I like the pics. I also liked being surprised. So, I avoided as many pics of BLT and WL before we stayed there, which added that extra WOW when you first walk in. But, we probably will not make it to DL, or if we do, will be very far in the future with a combo Aulani trip. I'll never make it to Disney Paris, so I enjoy those pics.

i forgot you were in NJ. I'll pass. It's Florida or here for me.

ahhh, norm, jerseys a great place. you'll be right next to me. i can blast my ac/dc and you can blast your randy travis music, or what ever they listen to there. :lmao:

Ummmm.... hey... just catching up...

I am being nice to you today, as your pa is going in for a procedure tomorrow.

Did ya see my V-day card for your wife?

Yeah. Thanks. That may be the only card she gets. The vase on the front of the card had maple leafs in it though...don't you guys do roses up there?

:rotfl2:

Well we're living here in Allentown
And they're closing all the factories down
Out in Bethlehem they're killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line.

Well our fathers fought the Second World War
Spent their weekends on the Jersey Shore
Met our mothers at the USO
Asked them to dance
Danced with them slow
And we're living here in Allentown.

But the restlessness was handed down
And it's getting very hard to staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
aaaaaaah aaahhhhh ooooooooh ooooooh ohhhhhhh.

Well we're waiting here in Allentown
For the Pennsylvania we never found
For the promises our teachers gave
If we worked hard
If we behaved.

So the graduations hang on the wall
But they never really helped us at all
No they never taught us what was real
Iron or coke,
Chromium steel.

And we're waiting here in Allentown.
But they've taken all the coal from the ground
And the union people crawled awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaah.

Every child had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got.
If something happened on the way to that place
They threw an American flag in our face, oh oh oh.

Well I'm living here in Allentown
And it's hard to keep a good man down.
But I won't be getting up todaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy
aaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah.

GUITAR SOLO

aaaaaaah aaaaaaah aaaaaaah oh oh oh.

And it's getting very hard to staaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
And we're living here in Allentown.

yes, that just about wraps up the area!!! now, we are the warehouse capital of the northeast! :woohoo: bethlehem steel is now a casino!! keeps the crime here instead of atlantic city.:thumbsup2

Aerosmith's " I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was our wedding song. After Aerosmith, ZZ Top would be my next favorite. Don't have any Randy Travis.

Just got back from taking my son to an outing from his beaver group.

They visited a local food pantry.

Guys, honestly it was tough to see the place.

They are a small operation, with shelves of boxed and canned goods setup...

They have families come through there picking up groceries, they are allowed to come once a month.

And during their visit, they can only take very very limited supplies of food. Each shelf is labeled with a number, and thats how many things you are allowed to take off of it.

To give you an idea, a family of 4 is allowed 1 box of cereal, 4 tins of canned vegetables, 1 box of cookies, 1 package of spaghetti, 1 package of other assorted pastas, 3 boxes of Kraft Dinner (or Kraft Mac and Cheese as you yanks call it), 2 tins of tuna, 3 tins of beans, 1 roll of toilet paper, etc... for a whole MONTH... I think it works out to about a 4 or 5 day supply.

It really gives you a new perspective on how fortunate we are...

We not only toured the facility, but then helped stock shelves with donations.

It's not any better here either Brian. Pretty sad really. My FIL volunteers at a local food and clothing pantry.

We try and donate what we can.

We are all truly fortunate. I try to never take anything for granted!

I'm just messin' with you back.

I'm glad you like many of them. :thumbsup2

Very weird at the house tonight. Our girls are staying at my in-laws tonight since my DW and I are leaving for the hospital so early.

Very quiet. Too quiet!

I do believe this is the first time since my oldest was born that we've had the house to ourselves.

Is this what being empty nester's is like? Kinda boring!

Yep, yep we are.

Our church began a food pantry about 5 years ago, and at that time was serving 5-6 families per week. Currently it serves about 125-140 families per week. A big difference is they can come back each week, but they can get 1 bag of non-perishables (of their choice - they can even walk the aisles), 1 bag of perishables (when they have them, which is most weeks but not all), and 1 1/2 bag of personal products (toiletries, tp, etc). Laundry soap once per month.

We volunteer there a couple of times per month. It's a great way to teach the next generation about serving others and putting their own situation into perspective.

Just sayin'...

It does put things in perspective. I know I forget to count my blessings.

There's also post padding permitted at the end, between the beginning and the middle, and between the middle and the end, but no other times.

Well my Dad got his surgery time for tomorrow.

So I get to be up at 4:15a tomorrow morning to be on the road by 5a to be at the Hospital by 6:30a for his procedure at 7:30a.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are much appreciated! :thumbsup2
We'll keep him in our prayers!

Hi my name is Travis recently turned 32. married with a 3 year old daughter who happens to have an extra 21st chromosome. finally got back to disney world after a 24 year absence back in July. We will be making a trip back to Disney in January 2013(27th- Feb 1). to celebrate my Occupational Therapy degree completion. A little break before I begin working toward my masters. We are so excited about our trip that the vacation planning CD is played at least once daily. As proof of my love of Disney world I will share a moment from our last trip that no one else knows about. We arrived to the magic kingdom on our first day and happened to walk in as the parade was about to begin. We lucked up and got a spot right up front on the center island near the entrance (where the flagpole is). It was truly a magical experience as almost every character walked right up to us and gave my wife and daughter hugs. At the end of the parade my wife looked up me wiping her tears away. I just smiled and was happy I had on my sunglasses and she couldn't see I was barely holding them back myself.:cool1: It was really meaningful to have such a great time as a family. The last 3 years were pretty hectic after my daughter's birth and finding out she had down syndrome. We enjoyed every step but the disney magic was just what we needed. Looking forward to getting a lot of tips from the board for our next trip.
Hi Travis! Welcome to the group. That's a great story about the parade - right place, right time!

Wonderful as it is.... it is NOT in the 70's there anytime between April & September... so it doesn't qualify as year round.
Yes it is. At 2am.

Yes, yes it does. With DW working in Social Work, I see this first hand.
How are your kids reacting to it?

Glad you were able to provide this lesson in compassion for them. Sadly, the need is up. Those that once provided the resources to stock the pantry are now needing the services.

I don't think he completely comprehends the severity of the issue.

He understood that some people don't have enough money for food.

He was really helpful with the restocking of the shelves - kinda 'cause I was there to nudge him.

I don't think he was really emotionally moved, but he knew he was helping, and he said he felt good about that.
