:lmao::lmao: Spoken with true wisdom.

when i was at work this past sat. morning, i used a hand truck to move 2, 50lb buckets of stuff that goes into a water softner. the 23 year old kid we got working there calls me names and so on and so forth because i didnt carry them. i told him, i was young and stupid to at one time and would carry them but the first time you get that shooting pain up your leg, into your back and cant walk for 3 days, you learn to use a hand truck. so i used my favorite line on him: " youll see":lmao:

Well I grew up with In-N-Out - and Five Guys... ugh. I don't care for them.

There are several things about INO - first everything is fresh, never frozen. That's a big, big one for me.

Next time you go west - give it another try - and go Animal Style. Mmmmm.

It's kind of like anyone who grew up with something though... it's just IT - no matter what someone else thinks. They definitely have a "grip" on the California market place though.

Christopher, thanks for this. I was suspecting something to this point. I will admit I'll try it again (now knowing about Animal Style) but I believe that it's no different than my love for Harvey's from back home. Nothing to brag about, but when I go back I gotta have one.

I've had the Double-Double Animal Style a few times when on the left coast but Five Guy's is like Cheeseburger Crack. :lmao:

Best way to describe a 5 Guys burger ever!

I'll agree with you. I much prefer 5 Guys to In-n-Out. For me, I think it's because In-n-Out relies on mustard for it's predominant flavor note. I very much dislike (bordering on hate) mustard.

I liked the flavor (and am a mustard fan as well) I was expecting more I guess.

Great, now you have me thinking a drunk Captain Jack Sparrow was charting the islands. Then, there are the hurricanes and Bermuda triangle. What if I'm put on trial for murder outside US? I saw Chipwrecked yesterday, and not to ruin it for anyone, but what if i end up on an island with talking chipmunks? I know it is all irrational paranoia, and i will not let it dampen my vacation. My backup plan is to be too drunk to be worried.

With a little marinade, those chipmunks would be good eatin' , just saying

Absolutely enjoying this 53 degree January afternoon! :thumbsup2

The sun was actually out for a short bit - felt like Spring!

Too bad we're back to normal tomorrow - High of 27!

forgot to add at the end... "you whippersnapper!" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

and

"Get off my lawn!!" j/k

ok..I have to go to work....uuugh! But I caught the glimpse of you guys talking aobut a Dis Dad cruise...if you do that let me know the date before we go in June so I can book on board and get a discount!!:rotfl2:

See you guys later...God only knows when I get to come home for the next two days!!!!

I really would like to put one together. Been thinking about it for weeks now.

:sad2: Kentuckians and their fear of a little dusting.

Yes. And he was using a compass that doesn't point north.

Wait a minute... that's the backup plan? What was the original plan then? :confused3 :lmao:

Snow, pirates, and booze in one post. Bravo.

That sounds about right.
Hey, how did the Eagles do in the playoffs this year?

Cat fight.

I'm about a 4 hour drive from Cincy. 7.5 hours of driving will make a man pretty thirsty! :thumbsup2

No offense, but that amount of time gets me about 4 or 5 hours away from WDW. I'm going that way.

Some people just dumbfound me... our manager is on vacation for 2 weeks, so I'm kind of in charge. I was just pulled aside by one of our employees. The past week or so, he has been running his mouth starting rumors about people with a few truck drivers. Really no ill intent about it and everyone knows he was just joking. Well, the jokes got around so somebody he started a rumor about told a truck driver to ask him a certain question. This happened and he came to me complaining that he doesn't want to hear that kind of abuse and it really hurts his feelings...

I'm sorry but it is no worse than what you said about anybody else. If you can make a joke, you'd best be able to take one. :sad2: Our manager drives me nuts sometimes, but I don't envy the kindergarten like behavior he has to deal with around here sometimes.

As a manager, after the various whines, I told one female employee she could get more work done if she didn't spend an hour putting on her makeup, another female employee that her coworkers would stop looking at her chest if she would button her blouse (it had two unbutton, not counting the collar), and a male employee that being 15 minutes late was still late, and since he did it every day, he could just return an hour of pay each week (cut him a break). All 3 triggered HR complaints. One of the parts I did not like about management.

Backup? Sheesh, that's usually my primary plan for any type of vacation:lmao::lmao::lmao:

"Around the World" anyone?:rotfl2:

You're buying! I'm there.

I'm finding it hard to believe there are no dads heading to the World in April this year! :confused3 I would normally be one of them, but we currently have no plans to visit this year. Still waiting for that winning lottery ticket..... :lmao:

We'll be in Hilton Head.

WELCOME to the LCBO! :rotfl2: Seriously, this is what it is like all the time with us, always something saying something about someone else. "Brent, blah-blah is walking away from cash". "Brent, so-so took an extra 5 minutes of break" :headache: The funny thing is though, I make a LOT of jokes about people, but no one has the guts to make one to me. :lmao:

And no burger for me :( I do know where a Five Guys is though, just not near me

One of the really nice things that I liked about INO growing up, was that it was a family run business. Growth was measured and deliberate - not your "on every corner" type such as you find with most chains. They were truly a Southern California establishment for most of the time. Growth into Nevada & Arizona came, and now they've gone into other states, but still mostly a west coast chain. Everything is made fresh after you order it. No heat lamps, no stuff sitting around. The fries are cut from potatoes right there in the kitchen. The onions are sliced daily, so are the tomatoes. The lettuce is hand leafed.

Let me just say it this way too... in the 14 years since DW and I FIRST left the state of CA for the midwest, I've personally known or met about 30 people who did the same as us - leaving for affordability issues, etc. and every single one, any time they've returned to CA - In-N-Out is either the first thing they'll go for upon arrival, or way up at the top of the list of Must-Do's. If you'd grown up there... you'd understand.

I never tried Five Guys until I went to Ft. Lauderdale in December. We have several near us, and lots of folks sing their praises, but I'd never gotten there. (Locally I prefer Steak & Shake). When I ate there at 5 Guys in December, I was completely and totally unimpressed. Sorry to all you lovers, but it did nothing for me. The only thing that I liked about it - honestly - was that they had Cherry Coke on their fountain in addition to regular. ANYTIME Cherry is an option, I'll take that over regular Coke.

The fact to there are those of you who've tried In-N-Out and still prefer Five Guys - that's okay by me. That just means there's more for me when I go west. And to all you 5 Guys lovers... there's more for you since I'll pass and go somewhere else.

I'm finding the discussions about the childish behavior of coworkers very interesting. Five years ago, when we started expanding the team here we had to go out and hire a lot of 'kids' fresh from college. We now have a workforce in the office, most of whom are young enough to be my kids. For the most part they are good, hard working professionals, but every once in a while you get a flashback to what I'll call a "Ferris Bueller" moment. As in, why do I have to have someone check my stuff before it goes out. It's time for me to challenge authority around here. And this from someone with around 5-6 years under their belt. I think the culture of 'give them a trophy for just showing up' weighs heavily here. I want to get one of those spanking paddles they used in Animal House for just such occasions. But i'd imagine there's a regulation against that sort of thing.

Sadly it's getting harder and harder to find a Harveys around here.:sad2:

This burger talk is killing me. I've been trying to eat healthy at lunch, and I'm currently ticked off with Hardees, but I might just have to visit them at lunch since that's the "best" burger place I can get to during my lunch hour.:lmao:

So, DDC Convention, 2013 - WDW, 2014 - Cruise and 2015 - DLR? :confused3

Sounds like a good plan to me - though it could be such that after 2013 and seeing how it plays out, there might be a couple of opportunities in the year to allow for decisions to be made as to which events play better for individual tastes and schedules. That way people wouldn't have to wait so long for the next one if they're so inclined.

Never tried an In-N-Out burger, but I have been to Five Guys...I didn't really get the hype, either. It was decent, but I didn't understand what was so special about it. :confused3

Like everyone else, I like the local joints I grew up with. :thumbsup2
