Morning guys :cool1: TGIF

Got back last night from our National Sales Conf. It was fun to catch up with my colleagues from across the U.S. and China. We had the option of doing a group activity and I chose go karting. They did about 55mph, it was a blast. I'll post a pic later of my 1st place trophy :thumbsup2 this may be third addiction after family and Disney!:

Congrats on the meeting and kart racing. Did you throw any turtles at the other drivers?

Morning Peeps!

Already sitting at my desk drinking coffee and "working"

Happy Friday to all!

Matt

I'm doing the same here.

:dancer: 30 days until Myrtle Beach vacation!

Like CJ, you are already living in a vacation area.

I did go karting a few years ago for a bachelor party. It was a blast! The place we went had computerized timing through 3 heats that then seeded you for a feature race. Helmets, fire suits, penalty area for driving infractions - it was a blast!

Drunk kart driving. A great idea.

Man, sounds like a big party with all you guys in MB at the same time. Dont do anything I wouldnt do.... which isnt much but some standards must be maintainted!!:rotfl2:

Matt

You can join the fun too Matt - come on down for the weekend!

Isn't everyday a beach vacation for you Don? Looks like a few of us will be in MB at the same time. I'm 31 days out.
HAHA! When we first talked about going to MG I asked my wife why we were leaving a perfectly good beach to go to another beach for vacation... I have yet to hear a good reason :lmao:

You'll be there too, Mike? We need to work out some details here!! I'll PM you.

Congrats on the meeting and kart racing. Did you throw any turtles at the other drivers?
:lmao::lmao:

Yeah, yeah... we're funny like that.

I'm going to miss everybody. Still 2 months out.

:sad1: Sorry, Mark. Planning to drive through VB again?

I did that as part of a team building activity about 5 years ago. It was a lot of fun. The place we went to was very much as you describe Barry.

Congrats David on 1st place!

Hello gents!

The busy-ness of summer is upon us here. Just wanted to stop in and say hi, between printing out various items I need to take with me this weekend on two separate Scouting activities that I'll be going to. First is Wood Badge Staff Development. I got my beads last year as many might recall - and this year I'm serving on Staff for the Fall Course. This is Development weekend 2 as we gear up for the first course weekend in August. Then after I leave that - I'm headed to a different camp where my younger son Matthew will be going through his Order of the Arrow Ordeal. He was called out at Spring Camporee, and when he successfully completes the weekend will be an Ordeal Member of the OA. :) I want to see him complete the OA ceremony Saturday night, plus I'm going for the Brotherhood Ceremony to seal my membership as well. But I'll have to race :drive: between activities to make it on time. I'll feel like I'm in a go kart at times I'm sure - trying to beat the clock! I had to get special permission from the WB Course Director to cut out a bit early Saturday afternoon in order to get to the other camp on time for the Brotherhood Ceremony.

Then next week the real craziness begins. We've been invited to over 20 different graduation open houses (it's only going to increase as my older son gets closer to being a senior himself... junior in the fall), and from June to after school starts again in August - there won't be a single week where all 5 of us are home together - except for the one 9 day period in July when we'll be in Florida together. Our eldest was questioning us on that recently, and when we laid it out for him, he realized exactly WHY we made the decision to go to Florida for a week in the heat of the summer. To unplug. To get away from all of the demands of home, and just be together as a family for a bit with no responsibilities or people needing our services. Harrison is extremely active at church doing all of the lights & sound for the high school group, but lately has been called upon to do the Thursday night service (which is exactly like Sundays - just gives an option for those folks who can't go on Sunday), and even on Sunday mornings. Between those times, rehearsals for those times, set-up for the high school activities on Saturday nights (prior to church on Sunday), Scouts and school activities - he's hardly home anymore. Plus Matthew is gone for different things multiple evenings; Annie and Julie have their activities and of course my own... we're a very busy household! So we NEED that week. I'm really looking forward to it too.

No parks are planned. I do have my AP, and Julie already said go ahead if I want to - but don't even think of buying a ticket for her as she won't use it. We do still have some non-expiring water park entitlements that could be used, so we might do that. Even the boys have said they don't want to go to the parks. Annie might though - so we'll see about her. We are looking at doing Hoop-Dee-Doo or La Nouba though. We'll be at AKV, which is very convenient for our beloved BOMA, which we'll eat at twice - once for breakfast and once for dinner. And we want to go over and eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe, but mostly we'll be in our room eating - and simply enjoying the pool and resort. Just to be there is a big part of it now. The parks are nice, but not critical. At least not in the ghastly heat of summer.

Anyway - just stopping in to say hello. It's been a couple of weeks since I last did. Hope you all are doing well.

Wow, Christopher, you have a full summer! Just think in just a few short years, you and your DW will be empty nesters and will be asking yourself, Where did we get all this free time?

Yep. While we occasionally miss those busy-in-a-different-way early years when the boys were small - we are thoroughly enjoying the time we're in now. And of course, looking forward to those future years when the kids are gone and we have more "free time." But then there could be grandkids and the fun things that time period brings.

We're in the midst of college planning for the eldest now. The stack of brochures and mailers continues to grow, and he's starting to identify potentials. He's ending his sophomore year strong, with a very solid GPA and next year will have 3 honors courses instead of just 1, and will be in a college extension course, already embarking on earning those credits. Life is busy, but good. Both boys go on week long mission trips this summer. Both have 2 different summer camps - Scout and church related, and both have lots of other activities filling their time. I can't complain though - it's much better than them sitting around the house saying they're bored, or have nothing to do.

It will be strange when #1 goes off to college, taking us down to 2 in the house again - though we got a taste of that last summer when he worked on staff at Scout summer camp all summer long. And the increase in activity is only helping to prepare his mother for the eventual reality that her baby is no longer a baby and won't be living under our roof forever.

I will say though that we are definitely looking forward to doing some of those bucket list items sans kids... for us it's just 2, 5 and a decade and all 3 of them will be off to college and starting their own lives. We've been in Indiana for a decade already, and that time seems to have flown... I can only imagine what the next decade will be like.

Welcome back, Christopher! :goodvibes

Wow... busy indeed! No wonder you've been a little scarce lately. Sounds like a fun and interesting few weeks coming up. You're a great dad for thinking ahead to break free for a summer trip. :thumbsup2

My BiL did that for his bachelor party too. It was great. We even had a NASCAR type moment after the race when I went after the guy who spun me after the final race. :rotfl2:

Congrats on the meeting and kart racing. Did you throw any turtles at the other drivers?

The one I went to wouldn't let you drink until after you raced.:confused3

Probably not--for us, I think it's quicker to go down I-95. There doesn't seem to be a fast way to get from Norfolk across to I-95.

Welcome back stopher! Totally understand that need to get away. I got tired just reading your update!

We'll try not to use up all the fun and leave some for you guys!

We appreciate that!

Being a Dad is hard work. My wife found the watch she has been looking for under my son's mattress along with the key finder she doesn't use anymore. :headache:

When asked all he could say was he liked it and wanted it. Maybe he has a career in politics. Ugh.

I removed his bedroom door and he has lost his favorite stuffed animals for the remainder of the summer. Hopefully that was enough of a shook to wake him up that illegal, immoral, unethical behavior will not be tolerated.

I'll miss them when they head out for the summer but after this latest incident I am looking for a little time to myself. :drinking1

ugh. well at least he had an answer. DD does things and I ask why she did it and all I get is, "I don't know." Stay strong and follow through. I know it's hard. I know for me it's only going to get more difficult as they get older.

Nah, I didn't see a Mr Fusion installed on that anywhere. No flux capacitor, either. :thumbsup2

On a related note - those movies are on the list of "We can't watch them until I catch the kids using 4-letter words. . . and once we have the talk about when and where those words are appropriate, we can watch all these movies that they have not yet been allowed to watch."

DD hears words here and there, and for the most part she doesn't repeat them. she used the word "sexy" for a while, and I've tried to get her to stop using it.

Seems like you can't take your family anywhere nowadays without exposing them to foul language. especially with cell phones. People talk on cell phones like it's a private conversation... well, no, it's not because we all hear you!!

and slowly but surely radio and tv are allowing more and more questionable language. Perhaps we'll just move to Pennsylvania and become Amish until the kids are adults.

Do you ever feel like you spend allot of time driving around in circles? :car:

Yes, yes I do.

This prom stuff is ridiculous..

I can only imagine. good luck!

Hey guys, been crazy here. Just looked back a few pages and have really missed you guys. Well the DD'S know the trip is on. Despite my efforts to not tell them DW wanted them to be able to anticipate the trip. After all the screaming for joy was over they started asking about caracter meals. We are mot telling them everything so we left it to two.
As far as the "door off it's hinges" I use that whenever their doors get slammed. It is a safety issue for me I saw a friend loose a finger to a slammed door so it is not tolerated here.
Behavior has been bad here, so they are now on a point system, they started with 100 points and need fifty to go to WDW. We have told them that we are going, wether they are with us or not is another mater.

I couldn't personally threaten them with not going to WDW. There's no way I could follow through on it. I don't believe in making idle threats.

Interesting observation I had during our last drive to WDW. There are different versions of songs played in different areas of the country. There is a song by the Zac Brown Band called "Toes in the Water." The version we hear up here in Wisconsin has the line "I got my toes in the water, @$$ in the sand."
While driving through Kentucky/Tennessee/Georgia (I don't remember where, and it was 2 am so all of the scenery is "darkness") that song came on the a local radio station. However, the line was "toes in the water, heels in the sand."

So, clearly, Wisconsinites are all a bunch of godless heathens that cuss and swear at the drop of a hat. :upsidedow

Good Day Men!

For a good time chick Here! And vote for me!

Haven't been there in a while. Haven't had time for more than keeping up here. Haven't been on the photo threads in quite a bit.

Love the pic of Dave in line :lmao: I know what to look for when we meet in Sept.. :rotfl2:

Congrats on 1st place!

Drunk kart driving. A great idea.

I was kicked off a kart in Wildwood, NJ for driving like an idiot. Yes, I was intoxicated and actually announced before the race that I would get myself removed. My friends didn't think they would kick anyone off because we hadn't seen it happen the whole time we were there. turns out they do. It was funny at the time, but I look back now and think what a Beverly I was.

The busy-ness of summer is upon us here. Just wanted to stop in and say hi...

Hi! Sounds like busy summer. Hope you enjoy it!

I wonder what the lyrics would be here in NY!:scared1:
