Hey guys, sticking my head back in for a second.

Hey Dads - quick checking in. Anyone going to be at AKL in the next couple of months? I'm trying to get my hands on a more current activities guide for the resort - I know that they have the cultural stores every night, and the night vision goggles on the savannah, but I wanted to see what else was there, since one of our ADRs will be for Boma. (Love them zebra domes!)

I'll be there end of June/beginning of July, if you want it around then. I know fi you head over to AKV, they do drumming circles with a CM in the evening inside in a room off the lobby. My kids really enjoyed it, and it was not the crazy cacophony you might expect.

Can there be too much nudity? I guess that's the question Game of Thrones is trying to answer...

I am a big fan of female nudity, and even I thought that there was too much nudity in Showgirls. I think it was a supply/demand problem: sure, there were lots of breasts on display, but with that many, they kind of got devalued.

I'm just now getting used to the place. Seems like a cool place to hang.

Morning!

I managed to grab a cube that is allllllll the way back in the corner and I can see who's coming my way :thumbsup2

Well... I just recently found my way of getting streaming music at work. Normally they have it blocked. Either way, though, I always have music playing to drown out all that "productive" talk going on around me. :rolleyes1

Don - you should check out the Space Mountain Queue music - they just added it recently - it's one of my favs!

What’s up?

Up is the vertical direction from whence you are positioned, but that's not important right now.

Morning gentlemen.... and you too Captain.

I'm hoping to duck out a bit early from the office today to go and chase a little white ball for a while. I joined our parrish men's league this year and this is the first day that I could actually get out to play. Good timing too as I have a client golf event in Indy on Monday.

Speaking of Indy. I'll be heading down there Sunday afternoon / evening and leaving sometime on Tuesday. Still trying to figure out schedules as I have the golf thing during the day Monday and I might have my boss joining me after for the evening. Should he not be able to join, would any of the Indy area Dads want to meet up for dinner Monday night? Alternatively I might be able to meet up early afternoon on Tuesday before I head back home. I'll let you know once plans firm up a bit.

‘Morning all…

What’s up?
The humidity.

Could you send some of that rain inland a might. I got a “Yard-Nazi” letter from my HOA a little while back and the rain would be a helpful component of my efforts to grow some “acceptable” grass.
Care to share the background story? :confused3:lmao:

Soooo glad I live out in the country and don't have to deal with BS like a neighbor telling me how to care for my lawn. Instead I just have my DW, and right now she has me putting in some edging and landscape paper down so that we can put some rocks that apparently must have some gold nuggets mixed in with them for what they cost in our flower beds around the house. My back is not very happy with me this morning.:headache:

I just can't comprehend this at all. Economics and :goodvibes:goodvibes. The more economics you have, the more :goodvibes:goodvibes you get?

It was bleedin hot here yesterday. I had 93 deg F going home. Sux when the AC in the Subaru is dead.

Matt

I just drive with windows down and rarely use my AC. Family hates it.

Just curious... does anyone listen to d-cot.com? Currently listening to the exit music for Soarin' Over California. :music:

Need to go check it out. I'm listening to ESPN radio.

I got to win the lottery, of course I'd still work, I'd go to work everyday at whatever I own, park in the front, say Morning to everyone that I pass in the building, walk into my office shut the door, go out a backdoor in the office, get into a twin car of the one I parked in the front and leave for the day:banana:,
:confused3:rotfl2:

Way to complicated. I will get up at Golden Oaks and boat over to MK or boat over to FW for the boat there. That's enough work for me.

Music… at work… you’re allowed to have such… Luck-y
I’d trade my window for that.

Smartphone takes care of that.

Morning, all! pirate:

So my boss stops by yesterday afternoon to tell me that I have to take all my stuff out of my cubical before Friday morning. :confused3 Apparently, they are moving my row of cubes a total of 3 feet so they can put in new cubes behind our row. So I now need to take everything out... move it to another location... then move it back in when they are done. :sad2: So... I said I need to work from home on Friday... She said "Ok". :cool1: Oh... and I get to use company time to move the stuff, so that ain't bad either :rotfl2:

Everyone should be required to move all their stuff every three to five years. That way you throw the unneeded stuff out and the rest of the stuff works harder to make sure that it doesn't meet the same fateful end... ;)

Sounds like a lot of work for a 3' move. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Sounds like my office building. The company built it about 10 years ago for exactly what we required at the time with no capability for expansion. This while talking about growing the business the whole time. Now that we HAVE grown, there's nowhere to put the bodies. They are talking about reducing cube sizes now to get more in. Where's the smack to the forehead smilie?

‘Morning all…

What’s up?

2,467 ceiling tiles, 42 sprinkler heads, and some florescent lighting that just sucks the life out of everyone without a window.

Could you send some of that rain inland a might. I got a “Yard-Nazi” letter from my HOA a little while back and the rain would be a helpful component of my efforts to grow some “acceptable” grass.

Send 'em my way. They won't complain about your yard anymore. :lmao:

Windows are nice and all, but…
I prefer a spot where I can see and hear folks coming and I don’t have my back to the walkway.

Love my window even though I face away from it. It's also on the other side of the cubes from the boss. Most of the bosses here have doors on their cubes but are in the center of the building. I think I'll keep my worker-bee status so that I can keep my window.

Music… at work… you’re allowed to have such… Luck-y
I’d trade my window for that.

Only problem with music is that it makes it harder to hear when someone is coming close to the cube so that I can look like I'm actually working. :rolleyes1

Morning Guys!

Its a soon to be rainy Wednesday as Beryl makes its way up the coast. Morning sky was overcast was slight patches of lighter gray towards the horizon.

I have alot of slides and work to do this morning, but figured I would surf over here instead... go figure.

Matt

Yeah, we got to deal with that all weekend...to the tune of about 8 inches of rain...of course we needed it, so I'm not complaining, but it did wash out events we had planned on Monday. We had planned to take my 4 year old to the National Cemetary here to place flags, but they cancelled the event due to the weather.

I throw everything away at work. Deny. Deny. Deny.

?

Just a little rain here. They call in drought like conditions. My grass is still green. Not sure I understand the weather jargon anymore.

Will definitely try that! Probably not today, as its 70's and rain, but the next hot day I'm all over it. Thank Randall!

Matt

I find that the faster I go the colder it gets.

Of course, The MAN with the pretty lights stopped me yesterday and told me that I shouldn't be going that fast. I said OK, so he didn't give me a ticket. :cool1:

So, an actual Disney question. Someone check my math please for 2 trips a year.

An AP, for 4 with DVC discount is $1676. That would be approximate equivalent of a 3 day ticket ($928) and a 2 day ticket ($672).

An AP renewal with same discount for 4 would be $1096. That would be approximate equivalent of a 2 day ticket ($672) and a 1 day ticket ($340).

I never realized the renewal was that much cheaper. We like to do parks every other day. The downside is the initial payment, but the renewal certainly makes it make more sense. We did Hilton Head this year, but probably will do WDW more often. What am I missing here?

Yeah... rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey... whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky :lmao:

:lmao::lmao: I think the .gov has infiltrated our ranks...

Smartphones also require money.
Something else I’d trade that window for.

Well…
My approach to yard work has been that if it wants to grow and doesn’t mind my mowing it short on a regular bases, then it’s welcome to stay. As such, there are several things other then “grass” that live on the premises (predominantly clover). My property is more meadow then yard (and attract rabbits and vast amounts of song birds which suites me fine). It’s also greener then most folks, but it not by definition… “a lawn”. I see “lawns” as being “Fascist” (meaning in this instance: “a forced conformity to an unnatural state of being that is put forth by a violent and closed minded minority for no purpose other then perceived self interest”). The covenants give them the right to act like that, but you’d like to think that they wouldn’t. Truth be told, we plan to completely relandscape the entire front yard this autumn anyway (when the weather is more suited to such, and I’ve saved a bit of funds for the project.), but the HOA has demanded that I waste money now trying to establish an “acceptable grass” lawn… in the summer… while there is a drought… in a town where the city water bill is unnaturally high… in a neighborhood where there are (many) far worse “yards”… on a street where even the neighbors on either side of me were appalled to hear that I got sited.

Just wanted confirmation... glad my letter made it to the right address. pirate:

In all seriousness, who gives a beverly what is growing as long as it is green and cut short???? I mean, I guess this time of year, you'd obviously be able to see the clover due to the flowers, but who really cares. I like clover. It makes a great ground cover. I was having a hard time establishing some grass in an area of my yard about a year ago, and I was pretty excited when the white clover started popping up in there.:lmao:

Good Morning!

tried to put the pool up yesterday. got it up, and started filling it, and discovered I have at least three holes in the liner!! PEANUT BUTTER!!!

it was time to leave for work by the time I noticed, so just got back from picking up a patch from the pool supply store. Now to see if it actually works.

I agree... I know my numbers are correct, they match my slip that I filled out.

Maybe we need a class action suit against the lottery, as THEY are the ones loosing weekly, not us.

class action??? if you win, wouldn't everybody just get there dollar back?

Matt

An Italian, a German, and a Polish guy are walking through the desert. Each one brought one item to help aid them on their journey. The Italian is leading the way carrying a machete. The German, walking behind the Italian, asks, "What is the machete for again?". The Italian answers confidently, "So I can cut open any cactus we find and get water. It's more practical than that shovel you are carrying." The German angrily replies, "I haven't seen one cactus yet, so we may just have to dig for water." The Italian sighs and looks back, "Well, I don't think he's going to be any help." Behind them, the Polak is struggling to keep up, carrying a car door. The German yells back, "Hey, why in the world did you bring a car door?" The Polak stops, smiles, and says, "Because if it gets too hot, then I can roll down the window."

I've heard this joke also works if you substitute "Candian" for Polish/Polak.

Having been on one of these HOAs in the past, leaving because I just felt bad and dirty about it, I was wondering what their penalties are for noncompliance? I might suggest stringing them along for as long as you can before they assess any sort of fine, appeal the decision through whatever means you can, and see how much closer to the autumn when you want to do the project you can get.

Also, if this would force you to spend money now AND in the autumn, fines they assess might still be cheaper than two relandscaping jobs.

Just a little rain here. They call in drought like conditions. My grass is still green. Not sure I understand the weather jargon anymore.

Our grass is definitely more of a brown right now than a green. Yesterday was the first rain we've had in weeks. And it wasn't much at that!

I've been able to go a full week between mowings. I just mowed last night and it didn't even look like I had - probably could've gone longer.

I couldn’t serve on an HOA board either. It seems to be modeled on the structure and guidelines established for the “House Un-American Activities Committee” (which I fully expect to see reactivated in the near future given the current mood in the nation).
:scared:

Their noncompliance letter didn’t discuss fines (I’d have considered just paying that). Their threat was more specific: I had ten days to act or they’d hire a firm to “bring the property into compliance” and then forward the invoice on to me. I’d have no say in the “who”, “what”, “when” or “how” departments.
:headache:

Basically I wrote then a letter back asking for a clarification on exactly what they wanted done and noted that I’d be acting in October/November anyway.

Not good enough… :headache:

I treated for “broad leaf weeds” first, but that also killed off the clover and actually made things worse. What’s happening at this time is that I loosened all the now exposed soil, sowed grass seed and covered it in straw. None of that was very expensive and it does show a good faith effort. The daily watering will cost me in unnecessary water bills, but it could be worse. I’ll use this method to get through the summer and then fix the problem in the fall. If anything grows… fine, if not… it still gets replaced either way on down the road.

We’ll see how it goes. :rolleyes1
