DDA Chapter 8

Good morning, DDA!

I have to get DS off to school, go to the dentist, and then go do a bunch of little errands. I want to get DS's percussion kit turned in before they charge me for another month of rental, I want to pop in the Disney Store, I have some shorts I bought for DS that are huge so they need to be returned. Of course the shorts can't go back to the same mall as the Disney Store.
Tonight is DS's band concert at the high school. Not sure WHY they decided to make a big, long program with performances from 5 separate middle & high school groups, but it sounds like it will be a LONG night.

Glynis when do you leave for your trip to London? I can't see your ticker, sounds like it is getting close!

Elizabeth good luck at the Dentist!

Kristine :yay: for savanna view!

Karen I hope you can work things out with a dog sitter

Bernadette hope you are feeling better :wizard:

Vicki hope you are able to get some rest :wizard:

Tia good luck figuring out your trip dates & ADR's!

Anne Marie I have a TS booked for everyday of our stay in Aug., but I plan on canceling most of them. We will not be doing the DDP either & I think it will be a little easier on the pocketbook to eat more CS & I will be placing an order with Garden Grocer for breakfast & snack items.

Tammi I was telling Garrett the other day that we need some hot weather here so I can condition myself for Aug. :rotfl:

:wizard: & to everyone!

Today is the last day of school :dance3:

Have a great day all :goodvibes

I think we'll go the second week of August next year, and the first week of August in 2010 so the APs will cover both trips. Hey! 2010 will be my 40th birthday! Definitely the first week of August in 2010!!

You really should think about arriving by July 30th or so next year...;)

3 suitcases packed...2 to go :faint:...I did get an email from the concierge guy that we definitely have a Savannah view, so I was excited about that. I can't wait to be on that plane so I don't have to worry about anything else

That is wonderful news! How are you getting everyone's stuff in to 5 suitcases? I may need for you to come to my house before our cruise next summer.

You could say "No balloons at AKL!" Which is absolutely true, but since you won't be at AKL the whole time AND they don't take up any room you might as well give in on that one.

DS requires constant vigilance - you never know what he will put in his backpack. I fuss at him all the time not to put anything sharp or liquid in there, but "useless" usually escapes my notice until later.

That's the last thing we do. I clear out the backpacks, let them put stuff beside them that they want to go, then I pack them myself. Otherwise, school binders and all sorts of other heavy non-needed things go to the airport with us.

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. I don't like to have my teeth worked on.
Hopefully it will go well and I won't be there for the full 2 hours they blocked off for me!

I hope you aren't there long and everything goes well.

All this talking of packing made me realize that I need to get going since Katie and I leave Sunday night. I've spent the last few days going through clothes, and deciding what to take. Does that count? Guess I'll drag the suitcase out tomorrow and try to fit it all in one. We're only going to be gone for 10 days, so I'm trying to pack about 5 pairs of pants and then double the number of tops to make it easier. One nice outfit to wear at the theater, and that should do it!

My cousin put together our itinerary and boy does she have lots for us to do. Let's just say our days are packed. She even managed to work in a day trip to Stratford upon Avon. That was something Katie really wanted to do, so I'm glad it got worked in. I've got the passports ready, travel documents ready, plane tickets printed, journal ready, camera almost ready (got to empty the card and make sure the other 2 are set to go), ipod almost ready for the flight (need to put a few videos on there for Katie). Whew! I'm going to need a vacation from getting ready to go on vacation!

Wow -- you will have so much fun! I can't wait to see some pics.

I decided on this pair of Croc flip flops

http://www.shoebuy.com/crocs-capri/194103/433183

I hope they are as comfy as they look!

Cute! I don't really like flip-flops (my toes always seem to get blisters), but I found a cute pair of Tory Burch on sale (40% off) last weekend and bought them. I hope I actually wear them some.

Robyn -- I hope Mo is feeling better.

Ditto for all the other DDA kids and parents!

Karen -- sending you PD that everything works out.

Elin -- we had gotten really hot here -- even setting records a week ago, but with the rain that came in yesterday, we dropped to high 60s. It was wonderful!

The rain that was supposed to be northeast of DFW actually flooded parts of the metroplex yesterday and did rain out the baseball games, extending our season by a couple of days.

Today will be swimming lessons and errands. Have a great day everyone!

:scared: :wizard: :wizard: That is goes quickly and painlessly

Get moving girl. You are going to have a wonderful trip. I hope that the morning sickness subsides completely before you leave. That would make life much easier for you.

Nick's concert is tomorrow night and it looks like it will be long too. Between Chorus, band, jazz band and specialty chorus I'm sure we'll be out most of the night.

Tonight is work for me. I've had so many consecutive days off that I'm dreading going :rotfl: I'll be back on track all too soon though.

I need to get moving. Colby has speech Therapy this morning followed fairly closely by school. I need to run a bunch of errands while he is at school. I'll have a couple of hours home before work. Hopefully I can tie up a few loose ends in the kitchen while I'm home. Oh yeah, I need to do more laundry too :worried:

Have a Great Day DDA

Wow! I can't believe you're so close! You'd better get packing or Elizabeth might have a heart attack. ;)

Good morning, DDA! Hate to post and run, but we've got to get to work. Ater getting the baby off with her dad I may have 2 kids today and I may have none (well, plus Terra). If none, we'll help pack a few boxes for the move this weekend. If 2, we'll have to think of something fun. Or maybe they can pack a few boxes. ;) That was apparently a lot of fun yesterday as Terra and Cinderella were fighting over who got to help BigSis pack her room.

someone told me a jump rope around the waist...guess I will have things to try after the trip

When I was in elementary school gym class they gave us ropes that were about 1/2 an inch thick. We would sit on the ground put the rope under our thighs and practice tying our bows for shoes. They also had us make two loops to tie our shoes, instead of looping one side and then wrapping around and looping in through the hole. The big rope is much easier to handle then tiny shoe laces.

She always brings a smile to our faces!!:lovestruc

I love the way this kid thinks!! :goodvibes

motor skill...Jonathan was the same way. the handwriting from Jonathan to this day is AWFUL! but he can tie his shoes...so there is hope. We used to spend a month in Marco Island...and one of the neighbors there taught Jonathan. I told Bill we may have to go back for Christopher! :rotfl:

Is it a motor skill issue or a vision problem, Kristine? Or both?

Kristine - could you please PM me the number for grand gatherings and the diver at Coral Reef before you leave. My 180 days are fast approaching and I need to get things in gear. TIA!

sent you a PM

I love Stratford:lovestruc :lovestruc. You sound ready to me!!!

Well, I think I'm finally mentally prepared. That's been the biggest challenge this time around. I've never had to be the "grown up" on a trip. Either my dad or Alan took care of all the travel arrangements, and made sure we got where we needed to be. Now, I've got to be in charge and make sure my daughter gets where she needs to be. It's kind of daunting!

We're really excited, though! I really cannot wait!!!

I can't believe your trip is almost here, Glynis! You will get all the small stuff done easily and the packing will be a breeze since you have a plan of attack. ;)

I hope so! I realized this morning, that I'm going to have to cram 2 days worth of errands into today. Tomorrow is shot! I have my ob appointment, and then have to help out at Katie's water day at school. That will take up the whole day.

Luckily, my sister is helping out. She's altering some pants for both Katie and me and also offered to charge my ipod and put movies on it for Katie. That's a big chunk of stuff off my list. I'll just drop all the stuff at her house this morning and pick it up this afternoon.

If y'all see me hanging around here too much, tell me to get off my duff and do something!

Glynis when do you leave for your trip to London? I can't see your ticker, sounds like it is getting close!

We leave Sunday night. We have to be at the airport by 10:00 pm and our flight takes off at 12:38 in the morning!!! Talk about your red-eye! I plan to sleep that first leg to JFK. We do have an hour layover at JFK, and then take off for Heathrow! I'm excited, but kind of sickly nervous about it!!! I'm really hoping that the morning sickness gives me a break! It hasn't been too bad, so I'm hoping the flying won't make it worse!

Wow! I can't believe you're so close! You'd better get packing or Elizabeth might have a heart attack. ;)

I'm a bit worried about that! Maybe I should just invite her to come do my packing. Do you think the fact that Katie and I are only taking one suitcase combined will throw her over the edge?

Have a Great Day DDA

From your lips.....

Actually, I'm doing pretty well just ignoring it. As long as I have some peanut butter crackers on hand, I'm doing ok.

Have a good time at the concert tonight!

Nah, I'm good. ;)

I hope so too!

I've tried that style on before and they didn't fit my feet. They are cute, I hope you like them!

You'll be fine! You and Katie are going to have a wonderful time!

OK, NOW I'm not so good. ONE suitcase? :faint:

Marci - It looks like our dates for 2009 will be Aug. 7-16, contingent on DH being able to get that week off. 2010 will be July 30-Aug. 8. Theoretically. That was some serious rain yesterday. I am not surprised that the games were rained out!

I really need to go get in the shower. Don't want to be late for the dentist. Actually, I would prefer not to GO to the dentist today, but that tooth without the crown really needs to be fixed before it gets worse. :headache:
