I wish your hopes worked! Today most areas are under Level 3 Snow emergencies. I have a family member who called to say that his 40K lb city snow plow was struggling to get through a flat part of town. We are supposed to drive through a VERY hilly part of town, so we're just playing it by ear right now. I wish the bride would just postpone the wedding, and yes I know what that's asking of her! Seriously though, I don't know that we're going to be able to make it.

I called the district police office for the area in which the wedding is being held. Currently, you are not allowed to drive and many of the roads are closed (especially the hilly ones we would have to travel). The Snow Emergency is supposed to be rescinded (or at least changed to a lesser severity) at noon, so I guess I'll call back then. If we're allowed driving, then we'll venture out... but if it's too bad, we'll just have to come home and cancel on her.

This is such a struggle for me, and I'm kind of in an odd place as far as coming to terms with how big a deal this is to the bride. I'm far enough to removed from my wedding to know that the music that played before, and even the unity candle song, just doesn't matter for the rest of your life. Heck -- I couldn't care less right now who stood next to us, who performed the ceremony, or whether or not I wore a beautiful dress or jeans. Clearly life happens, and is what it is going to be... whether or not you spent 20 months making 3 "wedding binders" of plans down to every detail, or eloped to the courthouse.

This coming from the girl who - and I would bet all the money I could spare on this - was the most OCD about planning her wedding that you could ever even swap stories about. I even made a list of songs the DJ could and could not play at the reception (I believe it was about 360 songs for him to choose from -- some of which he was mandated to play, and in a particular order), because it was ALL going to be up to me, and was going to go how I wanted it to.



That being said, I'm close enough to it still, to know that if today were my wedding day, I would be unaware of the above-mentioned truths, and would be beyond hysterical if people told me they weren't willing to drive to my wedding, regardless of the conditions.

I mostly just feel absolutely horrible for her and her family

Stay safe, I have been married twice, the first we had the big wedding with all the trimmings, I was exhausted on my wedding night, and unfortunately my parents hadn't finished paying off the loan when we got divorced. The second we got married at his Mom's house with family and friends, basically all I did was show up and say I do. We're still married, and I had a much more enjoyable wedding night.

I'm shocked to see how many people are driving in this crap. I swear we are busier today than we were yesterday. If I could have turned around on the way to work - I would have gone straight home. But I couldn't turn around anywhere! We are at a Level Two - with surrounding counties at a Level Three - and not allowed to leave. I don't want to say "not allowed" ... but might as well stay for another hour and a half.

Sorry you're trapped at work, but glad that you are safe. Those snow pictures are , love the baby bib!

Karen - I have a brother with Cerebral Palsy, he is no longer able to work, but the last job he got through a government agency that specialized in placing disabled workers, is there a similar agency that you could go through?

here in texas they have an agency called texas rehab commision but i have the suckest counselor. i guess the thing with me is my brain tells me im not disabled and i hate asking for help from those agencies but my body says you are disabled. i have asked for help from many places before and i guess i am not asking the right question or they just dont wanna help.

Lexi looks like a doll in the picture

Lexi is our special baby. My sister tried for 9 years to have her. She was born the weekend my Dad died. You can't tell from the pictures, but her dress has Mickey and Minnie heads on it, and a pretty tuffed tulle hem.

Terra wants to know when we can start her countdown calendar. I told her we need to wait until a little closer than 275 days. I still have to answer the question daily though.

I'm always asked why we can't leave today. I try every thing to dodge her questions. She's still in school, I'm still sewing dresses, I don't have enough money. Nothing satifies her. And we don't go until September.

UGH, I had a huge recap post and it vanished. I don't have it in me to retype it. So 's and to all.

One last thing- Sally! I'm Robyn- SAHM (I babysit for 4 other kids as well during the week) to Emma-8, Molly-3 (soon to be 4), and Lucy- 8 months. I am married to Eric. My girls and I are Disney obsessed. Eric is too although he won't readily admit it.

hi sally. i'm karen 27 and have muscular dystrophy (i'm a jerry's kid ). i am in the mist of finding a job (ill give everyone why i am back looking in a second). i am going to get my 2nd service dog in july. Shocker (my first) unexpectedly got ill quickly and within 4 days passed. so it has been 2 week tomorrow. ironically she also had a form of md.

tia- im with terra. when something i cant wait for i start saying --months --weeks -- days till ----. like i am now with getting my new dog. mom yelled at me last weekend which made me upset. oh well.

glynis- can you email me some good healthy crock pot recipes. we are not going to have a kitchen for 2 months so we need them soon. kitchen remodeling starts beginning of may and goes for 3 months.

Hi Karen, good luck Job hunting. I had issues at work with an injury, I went to an attorney to see if they broke any ADA laws and was told that there are no laws against being a SOB! But I figure paybacks a ****. I had changed positions and they cut my old job from my boss. And I ended up having to sue them for back pay and medical expenses.

Karen if things go according to plan, we hope(I shouldn't say we as in me & Gary, because it will be more Gary & his brother lol) to begin remodeling next month or May. The kitchen will be done 1st & I know I am in for a big mess! I just keep telling myself that once it is done, all the headaches will be worth it.
