DDA Chapter 4

Jennifer sounds like your appointment went well today!
Congrats on the great appt. and I hope the new doc continues to work out.

Well I have the bug in my head that I want to take the kids to the Halloween party. Not sure we can afford a 3rd trip but we will have 2 free air tickets by then & we will all have AP's so I don't have to pay for tickets. I was looking at September 30 - October 5. Haven't run this past Dana yet though!:lmao: :scared:
YAY!!!! I hope you can make it work! :wizard:

I think you are doing remarkably well, Debbie!!! I'm so proud of you!!!
I'll ditto this!

I came home when I was done teaching and skipped rehearsal and dinner out with friends. I have been feeling better today and decided resting tonight would be more beneficial than singing for 2 hours and socializing for another 2... ;)
I hope you feel better today.

Vicki where are the pictures of your new do? I want to see :yay:
Yes, let us see!

Good morning DDA. Thank you all for the get well wishes last night. I woke up this morning with a lovely 103 degree fever. Surprisingly I still don't feel horrible. But I am taking it easy today in hopes that I can finally kick this. Last night I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up this morning at 6:30. I can't remember the last time I slept that much.

Bear with me as I rant a bit- So I closed down daycare, which has upset just about everyone. It really infuriates me that when I close and believe me it ain't very often, I get all kinds of guilt and sob stories. I understand it is a huge inconvenience for all involved but for crying out loud I deserve a small amount of respect. I didn't close down because I broke a nail. What makes me upset is that not one parent has a back up in place. But again somehow that's my fault! Normally I would get my sister to help out but she has pinkeye and my niece has strep throat. So I seriously doubt that they should be around the kids.

Back to your regularly scheduled Dissing!

I may pop back in a bit after the girls get off to school. Have a great day.
Robyn - you did the right thing. I always feel bad for women that operate daycare in their homes, for this very reason. Take it easy today and get yourself healthy. If you need to close tomorrow too, do it!

Bob and I celebrated Vday last night. He loved his photo book, saying it was the most personal gift he has ever received. He got me a box of chocolates and diamond earrings! The kids even got little gifts from him. All in all it was a great night.

How sweet, diamond earrings! Maybe next year a diamond ring :rolleyes1

Glad to hear he loved his gift!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

I received a coupon yesterday from Airtran for $25 off a flight. The coupon expires on the 17th & I do not think I will get to use it :( I haven't booked our Aug. flights yet as I am waiting for them to come down.

I would love to book a trip just to use the coupon :rotfl: I don't think my work would be to happy about that though :confused3

I am so ready for May, I really need to get away! My sil & bil decided yesterday to take a quick trip, they are leaving today. I would love to be able to do that!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Kevin and I exchanged cards this morning. He gave me last year's card, which he found in his desk recently. :rotfl:

In my card (for him) I wrote, "My real list--only one--Kevin M. Hardman" :lovestruc

He laughed and said, "Not true, but you can fib on Valentine's Day." :teeth:

Hope everyone has a great day. I have lots of laundry and packing to do for our weekend trip.

so cute!!

wouldn't it be great? I have a student whose family will book a weekend trip to Paris, or London, because they find a great deal at the last minute! :upsidedow

My chance at hours of undisturbed sleep was lost by 11:00 last night. I am usually awake then, so Kristin called and woke me out of a sound sleep. I was actually dreaming when my cell phone rang. Took a few moments to realize what it was! She has decided to come home for the weekend, which is very nice! :goodvibes

Then, the dog woke me up at 1:45 crying to be let out. When she does that I know she really needs to go, so I got up and took care of her and then got on here to post my Valentine wishes for you all. Read a little to get sleepy again ;) and went back to sleep about 2:30. I never heard Bob get up and move around this morning but the dog woke me up again at 6:45. I asked him to let her out this time and went back to sleep until 8:00! Heavenly!! :cloud9:

thanks for the comments on the new picture in my siggy. I looked for one of the 4 of us but couldn't find one from the October trip. I will keep looking... maybe on my PhotoPass CD. Kathrin looks so different with her hair cut that I didn't feel like I could put in one from any previous trips either.

No, no, no never without permission. I have a cousin who is pregnant and I asked before touching her belly. I think she is having a boy.

I think it's the same reason that people feel they have the right to pat a pregnant woman's belly.

So, Glynis, I'm guessing that the storm means the kids are home today and you don't have to have special breakfast ready at dawn. Hope you get to enjoy the day.

Actually, no! It would take a lot worse than this to close our school! We were pretty protected from the majority of the storm by the mountain that we are up against. But about 10 miles away from us the schools are closed.

So, breakfast was right on schedule!

You did the right thing! Those parents should have a back up in place, or just not gripe about having to deal with their own kids. I'm behind you 100%

I agree, Heidi! I never saw the need to go up to a pregnant womand and touch her belly! And I never had a stranger do it to me when I was pregnant. Bob would say it is because I have "THAT LOOK" about me... :rotfl:

Actually, I never had a family member (except Kathrin and Bob) do so without first asking! So maybe I DO have "THAT LOOK!" :rotfl2:

I agree 100%, Robyn. These are the same parents who would bring sick kids to you and expect you top care for them and would be the first to complain if those same kids got sick because they were around sickies in your care! Let it go, but maybe put something in your "contract" next year about it if you think it is necessary to remind them that they need a back up plan!

The worst for me was when I was pregnant with the twins. I was visiting my parents at one point when I was about 6 months along (but looked much more). I was at the grocery store with my mom, and some man I didn't know came up and said, "You better watch out, she's going to BLOW!" And then he laughed like he'd said something hysterical! I swear he almost ended up with tomatoes all over his head.

Usually people were very kind about asking polite questions, but this guy just came out of nowhere!

The snow continues here. Where I live, it's not so bad, but in other areas of my county, it's pretty bad! Alan made it home by 10:45, exhausted but ok.

As of 9:00 last night, there were about 300 students that were still not picked up by parents. They were able to bus them all to one school, and parents were informed about the move. By 10:30 all but 165 had been picked up and taken home. Those 165 live in very far out areas, and parents could not make it in to pick them up. So, they got to have a "sleep over" at the school. There were several teachers that volunteered to stay and watch over things. Our school district has a huge emergency plan in place, so every school is equipped with sleeping bags for at least 500 kids. The kitchen was opened, and the kids were fed and entertained. That school (and several others) are closed today. The hope is that the parents will be able to pick their kids up by noon as the storm is supposed to blow out by then.

It did get very scary last night, as we had near hurricane force winds blowing the snow all around. At last count, there were 62 accidents just in my county alone! This was a bad one.

And of course, I need to go out today to get something for Alan. I thought we weren't going to do Valentine's day gifts this year, but apparently, he thought differently. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon, though. I don't want to be out in this weather!

Oh Tammi, that is SO SWEET!!!!!!! I am so glad things are going great for you two.

Very well put!!!!
Robyn,
If your sick, you should close & the parents should be mature enough to understand that.
