DDA Chapter 4

It is beautiful! I could live there.
Do you think the house is "zoned" so they don't have to heat the whole thing? The other thing to consider is that if I lived there I wouldn't need NEARLY as many shorts! They would be displaced by things like long underwear and parkas! DH claims that he likes cold, but I don't think he likes cold like Masachusetts cold.:scared:

DH REALLY likes the Sony camera. I am glad he swapped his tent, and I am glad we didn't spend a ton of money on accessories for the Olympus because I bet he will hardly ever use it now. We never even got a spare battery because the one he bought was the wrong size and he never did find the right one. I am pretty sure going forward he will buy lenses and such with the intention of using the Sony.
I'm sure the house has zones but it is so open that it would be tough. Just paying the bill to keep most of the house at say 55 would be high. You would need all that room for long pants and heavy sweaters.;)

Great zoo pictures!

DS had kind of a rough day. He got a "40" on that math homework.:scared: Then he got in trouble for talking in the hall so he has to stay inside for "recess" every day next week. They don't have recess - they are allowed to run around outside after they finish eating lunch. But he eats so slow I am worried that the teacher will accuse him of going out to play. I think that next week will not be good.:sad2: He says he will just sit in the classroom to eat, but I don't know if that will be an option. Maybe if he gets some extra help with math while he sits there it will turn out to be a good thing.

Tomorrow he is on a field trip to UNT all day so the teacher told them not to bring backpacks or lunches or anything. They are having lunch at the college. I hope he has fun.
Hope next week isn't as bad as you fear!:wizard:

I found a frame at Kohl's that had thick layers of matte. I removed the matte and used a piece of fleece to put the pins through. There was enough room for the entire pin to be between the glass and frame back and the fleece gave it a finished look.
That is great!

The girls will pick me up here about 9:00. Bob and I are taking them out for breakfast and then we are off.

I checked the weather forecast this morning first thing and I am concerned. Hartford, CT is under a heavy snow warning. 8 inches or so!
6.gif
This is where we are planning to stop tonight before continuing into Boston tomorrow morning.

For those of you who live in the New England area... do the road crews stay on top of storms like this on Interstate highways? They don't/can't around here, so you see my concern.
You shouldn't have a problem on the highways as long as there aren't white out conditions. Depending on who you listen to they are now say 1"-3" or 2"-4" or 3"-5". It is starting here around 8pm and through the night. Clearing sometime tomorrow.

Stay safe!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

They try their best. It all depends on how hard it is snowing and whether it ices up on contact. The best advice is to take it slow. You will be in a heavy vehicle which will help a lot.

I think it depends on what type of skin you have. I have REALLY oily skin. It is shiny all the time, no matter what I put on it. We have a Bare Minerals (or whatever the name is) store in the mall so I decided to give it a try. It is the original one that they sell on QVC, and I had the girl in the shop apply it for me. After a few hours my skin was just as shiny and greasy as always, so I saw no reason to purchase an entire new line of products to end up with the same results I get from my current products. There are a couple of stores that carry it, and I have seen at least one kiosk selling it at the mall (not the mall where the store is). I would see if you can find it somewhere to try it before you purchase it.

Safe travels, Elin!! :wizard:

I haven't been able to locate any place in Vermont or New Hampshire that carries it. It looks like I will have to bite the bullet and buy a starter set. I don't have terribly oily skin, but do have small, but frequent breakouts. I also send to have reddish undertones. Hopefully this will even things out and not contribute to any additional breakouts. I have also decided to set a goal for myself first. Chris and I are both planning to go on our diets starting Monday. We are less than 4 months out for our Summer vacation. Chris wants to start a 90 day plan thinking that if we have a specific time frame we will better be able to stay 100 % on track. His goal is 30 lbs, mine is 15 lbs. Once I reach my goal I will order the new make up and give myself a mini make over. I think I will attempt to grow my hair out during that time frame which will allow a new hairstyle too :goodvibes

yes i will be going back in july to get a yellow lab. when i talked to the trainer monday she said that at the moment they only have goldens or yellow labs for july class. i told her i wanted a yellow anyway. the way KSDS names the dogs is the pick a theme for the litter and they name the dogs on the theme of the litter. the dog will be between the age of 2 and 3. Shocker was 2 1/2 when i got her. Here is the website of the litter names. http://pups4ksds.org/litter.htm

I have a feeling my dog is daytona. vroom vroom

I bet you can't wait! :goodvibes:

Thanks for clarifying that my use of "we" in my previous post was BS. It's all Kevin. :rotfl:

 Sorry! :rotfl:

Jennifer (tink)--something is being sent out to you :)

Ooh, yay! I'll be watching :)

Glad you liked the lime chicken. I love it over lime flavored Tostitos with lots of cheese on top!

Nope. We haven't got that thread back, but I managed to copy about 97 of the recipes before it went poof, so if you want something, let me know!

WM Alex says he should get several more done this weekend!

Here are some of DH's pics from today. I resized them on Photobucket but they are still really big.:confused3

Great pictures!

I love Bare Minerals! I use it every single day. I wouldn't say it is a miracle, but it does even out the complexion and you cannot tell you are wearing makeup. I love the way it looks. For me it never looks like I am wearing makeup but just that I look better. I have sensitive skin and it does not bother me at all. I do have a friend who tried it but it irritated her skin. I think, as with any product, you need to try it to see if it is right for you.

QVC sells it under the name of Bare Escentuals. Other places like Ulta and some department stores also carry the line. They make eye makeup as well as lipstick, etc. too.

I absolutely ADORE Bare Minerals! We have a BM store nearby that gets way too much of my money! It's expensive (especially at first), but each container does last a lot longer than you would expect! I have extremely sensitive skin as well, and have had no problems with it except for one of the night-time products (which was unnecessary anyway). In fact, I would say that it actually did improve my skin (tone, clarity, etc). And as Elin mentioned, the best part is that you don't look at all "made-up". Well, no, maybe that's second best. In my opinion, the very best part is that you don't FEEL made up! I absolutely cannot STAND to have liquid anyh kind of makeup on my face anymore. The colors, etc available are great, too. It's a bit bulky to store (Kyle makes fun of my counter full of makeup pods), but I could go on and on forever about how worth it the investment was for me! :teeth:

Deb - Good luck reaching your goal!
I can't even seem to eat healthy for 2 days in a row. The days that I do OK by dinner I am STARVING and eat a much bigger meal than I should.

Thanks for the update, Bernadette. I am really not too worried about the Boston area. It is the central Connecticut part of the trip that looks like it could get bad.

I have found a Courtyard Inn in Brookline that has availability for tonight if we think we could outrun the storm and drive the whole trip today. I am going to double check the updated weather just before I leave.

The girls have left Richmond and ought to be here to pick me up in about 45 minutes.

Sounds like a great plan for both of you! I have a very ruddy complexion and I feel that Bare Minerals tones that down.

If you are planning to give it a try I would go with the basic item first and then, if you like it you could add the others later.

bareMinerals 2-piece Powder Foundation & Brush w/SPF 15
Item #A17644

* Retail Value $47.00
* QVC Price: $35.00
* Shipping & Handling: $3.97 (Easy Pay! 4 Installments of $8.75, plus Tax and S & H)

I think I may just buy the starter package on bare minerals.com. There is a 30 day guarantee and it comes with all the brushes and instructional DVD. It actually isn't anymore $$ than the Lancome products that I currently use. I think my pale winter complextion just makes me needs some base color and I hate liquids with a passion.

I'm off to do some more cleaning/organizing. Chris actually did some pick up last night and he vacuumed and worked on the kitchen :thumbsup2 I need to declutter the tops of everything. Things seem to pile up.

Good morning, DDA!

Amy - Please pass our well wishes on to Julie. They will be in our prayers for a healthy delivery and that the day care issues work out for everyone.

Marci - Good luck with the audit. I hope it doesn't cause too many stresses for you. I hope that the tournament goes well this weekend and Andrew gets a great start to the season!

Elin - Have a safe trip to Boston. Say hello to my home for me. I'm thinking that we may need to move back at somepoint as that's the only place Phil and I both get sad about missing. If you make it that far tonight, the Courtyard Inn should be perfect. The location will be great for you and it seems like a nice hotel.

Karen - Great picture of Shocker. You continue to be in my prayers. I'm glad that you'll have a new dog soon. I'm sure he/she'll be wonderful!

Vicki - I'm glad you got some answers for Becky. I hope that they can find the right balance quickly. Hope that you are feeling better too!! Have a great trip.

Chanon - How did your chops taste? Mine turned out pretty good. I used the rub and garlic butter from Glynis' recipe last week and they were tasty. I cooked them covered and they stayed really moist. On the thinner chop (vs the loin roast from the recipe) they were a little too spicy for Terra, but I just took off the outer edges and she liked them too.

Elizabeth - Nice pictures! The new camera looks good for DH. Sorry about DS' bad day. I hope that the field trip today is good and that next week doesn't go too badly.

Deb - I believe that's what both of my sisters use and they love it! (If not, it's something very similar.)

Denise - Great new for Rees! It sounds like things are improving greatly. How did the neuro appt go for John yesterday?

Hi all! Sorry that I've been a little MIA. I got busy earlier this week and it's taken me this long to clean up. On Tuesday I managed to finish clearing one set of shelves in the basement then vaccuumed that area to rid all of the dirt, cobwebs, who knows what. Dad came down as I was finishing and proceeded to resecure the sheleves and stabilize the whole unit so now I can actually use it all! That will do a long way to helping me with the next step.

Wednesday I sorted out 3 boxes of craft stuff and put them in the photo boxes I bought almost a year ago for just that purpose. Now Terra can actually use them! She's already made several pictures and puts everything right back when she's done.

Then yesterday was blown by my total lack of sleep the night before. Dad's van sputtered it's last sputter, or maybe more drove it's last inch, at 11:30 Wed night and I had to go pick him up. They bought a new one last week, but he was trying to get some last use out of that van and it's 560,000 miles (in just over 5years) before it's registration expired today. Well, he'd just decided that Wed night was it and he'd take the new van starting yesterday. He pulled in to make his last delivery of the night at UPS and the front axel broke! So, I had to go pick him up, help finish the delivery, empty out the van etc and then a salvage yard went and picked it up yesterday afternoon.

Today I may just do nothing. ;-) Actually, I need to start burning our photos onto DVD lest something happen with the computers again (knock on wood). I've made a list of the 4 main projects I have going or need to get going. Each has been assigned a day of the week that I will work on it and the 5th day will be a "field trip" type of day with Terra. So far this week, it's helped me focus on these projects and I've gotten things done on each of them. Now to just keep it that way.

sounds like a good plan Deb,
good luck

There has been lots of talk about Bare Minerals make up on the boutique thread. It sounds amazing, but I am wondering if any of you have reviews or use it. I trust all of you with things like this.
I've used it for several years now, and find that if I go back to liquid foundation my face will break out.

Hi everyone. The concert last night was fabulous.

I've read everything but just don't have the energy to reply to it all. RL issues with the ex are exhausting me.

Here's a :grouphug: and :wizard: for everyone. Know that I am thinking of you all!

Do you use just the foundation products or other items too? I'm trying to put together my wish list :lmao:

:stir: I'll try to whip up a hex to put on the ex :stir: That probably won't work, but I'm willing to try for you. Please know that we are here for you if you need to vent

I use their foundation, mineral veil, blush and brushes. I have a few eyeshadows that have come with the kits, but I rarely wear eyeshadow. I do have one very dark shadow that I use for eyeliner on a daily basis.

I know, and thank you. He is just doing things to push my buttons but in the long run the kids are the ones that will suffer. I'm just so ready for everything to be OVER WITH!!!

Tia and Amy - Chops turned out good. I liked the sauce so will probably put that on my "shelf of sauces to use on other meats" in the future. There were leftovers, but Bob beat me to them and took them for lunch.

BTW: The new Lemonade's Girl Scout Cookies are TO DIE FOR! :faint:

Tammi-'s I'm glad you had a nice evening last night.

Elin- I know I missed you but safe travels!:wizard:

Deb- Good luck with your goals, they certainly sound reachable and what a great end reward.

Tia- :yay: for all the progress.

Elizabeth- Those are great zoo pictures.

Marci- :wizard: for the tournament.

I'm sure I missed a bunch of you so 's and :wizard: all around.

Joe has been here all morning and as much as I love having him around, it totally throws me off my groove. And the kids as well- they have an audience to act up in front of.

We also just found out that my great aunt passed away this morning. Joe saw her last night- yesterday was her 95th birthday- and said she did not look good at all. I am sad that she died but relieved that she didn't suffer for too long. None of us think that my uncle will last much longer.
