DDA Chapter 4

Deal!!!

Cool! You better get here quick cause it gets worse every minute. :headache:

i took this picture last Wednesday after we got back from vet.
What a nice photo.

We frame all of our pins, using regular frames. We do add a matte, which gives us more room to work with. Kevin literally pushes the pins through the cardboard backing of the frame and then sticks the pin Mickey head back on. Here's an example of a picture from Matty's room.
That is really nice!

Julie does have preeclampsia, so please continue to keep them in your prayers.
More prayers for Julie!

DH and I went to the zoo today. :) He brought his new camera.
What did he think of it?

Bernadette, the countdown calendar will be so much fun for Emma!
I printed out the months of March & April with photos on the top-one of Emma at DTD with the Pooh statue and one of the kids with Buzz. I hope the days are big enough for the stickers.

Emma is saying "it doesn't look so good to X off". She's such a critic. She wants a chain.

yes i will be going back in july to get a yellow lab. when i talked to the trainer monday she said that at the moment they only have goldens or yellow labs for july class. i told her i wanted a yellow anyway. the way KSDS names the dogs is the pick a theme for the litter and they name the dogs on the theme of the litter. the dog will be between the age of 2 and 3. Shocker was 2 1/2 when i got her. Here is the website of the litter names. http://pups4ksds.org/litter.htm

I have a feeling my dog is daytona. vroom vroom
Daytona is a nice name. Some of them are pretty strange.

Elizabeth-here's the barn. Our kitchen windows are on the right of the photo. The barn is HUGE. There is a huge addition on the other side that you can't see.

It looks a lot nicer when it isn't so gloomy outside and the grass is green.

I
I've also been doing this...for my SIL. She's bored with what she's been cooking for us all, so I copied some recipes.

Glynis -- your lime chicken is what she cooked last night -- fabulous! All the adults loved it, none of the kids liked it. I think my SIL had it too runny. We're going to drain it better next time and do nachos -- then I think they'll eat it. That recipe is a real keeper -- thank you for sharing it!

They haven't returned y'alls thread back, have they? I was looking for it trying to get some of the recipes that haven't been re-posted on the new thread. Also, I hope your cold is better.

Glad you liked the lime chicken. I love it over lime flavored Tostitos with lots of cheese on top!

Nope. We haven't got that thread back, but I managed to copy about 97 of the recipes before it went poof, so if you want something, let me know!

That barn looks bigger than my house :rotfl:

Deb & Beth love your designs.

Tammi have a good time tonight!

Karen your flowers & the angel are pretty, nice picture of Shocker.

Prayers & :wizard: for Julie

Elizabeth sounds like you & dh had a good day together.

Bernadette, the countdown calendar will be so much fun for Emma!

Anne Marie your Disney pictures sound cute, good luck with framing the pins.

Vicki are you staying somewhere tonight before you fly out? Hope you can get a little bit of rest!

Marci good Luck to Andrew!

That looks like a stellar recap, so I'll ditto it!:goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes

Kevin says the trick is to find a frame with a cardboard backing that isn't too flimsy but is stiff enough to secure the pins (yes, the mickey head remains on the outside of the frame back). The pins still usually touch the glass (especially 3-D pins), but the matte adds some depth (and it looks really nice too). We buy most of our frames at Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for clarifying that my use of "we" in my previous post was BS.
It's all Kevin. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm glad there was good news for mom. I hope the aspirate tests come back negative as well. Sounds good for Desi too. I hope there's a princess: to be seen next time around.

Ditto to this as well!

That cake is adorable! Sounds like a great theme and you can have lots of fun with it.

I've got so many other thoughts/ideas swirling around in my head! Molly is very excited and telling anyone and everyone about it.

Hi everyone! Just sharing what for dinner here!
http://www.eatbetteramerica.com/recipes/dinner/caramelized-pork-slices.aspx
The sauce was great - and Tia, I can't cook pork either. I grew up on my Mom's pork that was always cooked until dry. It's hard to not cook pork long unless it's on the grill for me. (These actually simmered in the sauce for about 20 minutes while waiting for myBob to come home...and he's still not home...)

Got any leftovers? ;)

That sure would hold a lot of shorts :rotfl2:

I tried another new crockpot recipe today. This is one Dawn gave me a long time ago, and she may have very well gotten it from the WFD thread. Delicious!

Creamy Italian Chicken

2 lbs boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
4 oz softened cream cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 package dry Italian dressing mix
½ cup water (or white wine)
pasta

Cut chicken breasts into strips and put chicken strips into slow cooker. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter or margarine, cream cheese, soup and Italian dressing. Pour mixture over chicken strips and add white wine or water. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Serve over angel hair pasta or bowtie pasta.

Yup. It's a favorite WFD recipe. Did you guys like it? We love it!!!

I am sitting here waiting for my cousin to get here. He left his mom's at 8:30pm and it stopping to visit a friend. Who knows how long he'll be.

I forgot to ask you all to please one of Cassidy's oldest and dearest friends in your thoughts and prayers. There has been a LOT of stuff going on in this family for the 6 years we've known them and Carla knows that we are her safe house. She was hospitalized last week for cutting herself. There is now a social worker/dept. of social services (who came to school) involved and I hope and pray if nothing else that Carla gets the help she so desperately is calling out for.

She is added to my prayer list!

Well I got my frames done & put up in the playroom. Its 2 pictures of Walt Disney. One he is very young & has all stuffed Mickeys all around him. The other is where he is older & he is drawing Mickey Mouse.

The pin frame did not work out so well. I need some creative input from you guys. The pins are so thick (with the post & the mickey closure thingy) that i cannot find a frame large enough in depth to put them in. I was thinking about corkboard but I want them behind glass since the kids are in that room all the time & I don't want any picked off & lost. Any ideas???

I'm trying to come up with something similar for all of Alan's Olympic pins. My sister suggested using a shadow box frame, since it's deeper than a regular picture frame. I'm planning on checking at Michael's or another craft store in the next week or so. Hopefully that will work!

Julie does have preeclampsia, so please continue to keep them in your prayers.

I'm glad Kevin works with her DH...I sent some spaghetti and meatballs to work, so at least they have one night where they don't have to worry about dinner.

If anyone comes across any more Babies R Us coupons in the near future, could you let me know, please? Julie's shower is in a couple weeks. Thanks!

I am so sorry about Julie! I'll keep her in my prayers. Tell her to stay down!!!

It is at least 4 times bigger than my house and its just the mom & DS. I wouldn't want to have her heating bill though.:scared1:

It is beautiful! I could live there.
Do you think the house is "zoned" so they don't have to heat the whole thing? The other thing to consider is that if I lived there I wouldn't need NEARLY as many shorts! They would be displaced by things like long underwear and parkas! DH claims that he likes cold, but I don't think he likes cold like Masachusetts cold.:scared:

DH REALLY likes the Sony camera. I am glad he swapped his tent, and I am glad we didn't spend a ton of money on accessories for the Olympus because I bet he will hardly ever use it now. We never even got a spare battery because the one he bought was the wrong size and he never did find the right one. I am pretty sure going forward he will buy lenses and such with the intention of using the Sony.

Hey Glynis (or anyone else who might know), if you're on right now. If I sear/brown some pork chops before putting them in the oven at 350, do you know about how long I should cook them? The recipes I'm seeing say an hour at 350, but I didn't know if the searing would take off much of that time.

Thanks!!

Sorry I didn't see this before now. I'm sure you're already done. Here's what I would do. I would sear the pork for about 3 minutes per side in a screaming hot pan, then put them in the oven, starting for about 30 minutes. Check after that for the correct internal temp.

Elizabeth the zoo pictures look great! Tell dh he did well :thumbsup2

Thank you!
Now they are the size I was trying to get them to be. Weird.:confused3

There are otters that you can see swimming underwater through a window. He tried to get a pic of them but they are FAST!:rotfl2: I was surprised that the pics he got (of just water, no otters) actually looked pretty good. He had the camera pressed up against the glass. Some of the otters were back in the grass but there wasn't a good place to stand to get a pic of them, so no otter pics today.

DS had kind of a rough day. He got a "40" on that math homework.:scared: Then he got in trouble for talking in the hall so he has to stay inside for "recess" every day next week. They don't have recess - they are allowed to run around outside after they finish eating lunch. But he eats so slow I am worried that the teacher will accuse him of going out to play. I think that next week will not be good.:sad2: He says he will just sit in the classroom to eat, but I don't know if that will be an option. Maybe if he gets some extra help with math while he sits there it will turn out to be a good thing.

Tomorrow he is on a field trip to UNT all day so the teacher told them not to bring backpacks or lunches or anything. They are having lunch at the college. I hope he has fun.
