DDA Chapter 4

Deb,
The cell phone sounds like a good idea & not too bad on price.

jennifer(bear) pmed me yesterday condolences for shocker.

our mail arrived today and i received a package from my friend that sent me the flowers. its an angel holding a puppy dog(i call all dogs puppies). ill take a picture in a minute and post it.

marci- thanks for the card that was sweet.

The dental appt. went well. The crown feels 'normal', at least as far as I can tell with my mouth numb. Everytime I try to drink it runs out the side of my mouth.

Tonight is the George Strait concert. I'm leaving work early so I can get home and change, then we will head to Richmond. We have 5:30 dinner reservations at a place just a few blocks from where the concert is. Thanks for the recommendation Elin.

You are welcome! The great thing is that if you all like it, they are building one here in downtown F'burg! It is going to be where Chords used to be and should be open by late fall! :yay:

Have a great time tonight!

Will they drive it there as well?

unfortunately, no... but it is loaded and parked at Kathrin's apartment now. And she hasn't hit anything driving it yet either! :upsidedow

I think Jennifer (Bear) is with family as I emailed her over the weekend and she was at FIL's house :confused3 All seemed ok though.

I hadn't posted Vicki's design, just the 4th Designs that I was working on.

These are the 2 I did for Vicki
This was the first one, but I wasn't thrilled with the background and couldn't find one that I did like
MeyersSegway.jpg

So I popped the Characters in front of a Mickey Swirl. This is the one that Vicki chose
Meyers2.jpg

I went with Tigger and Pooh as I couldn't find many characters that had hands in the right places for the Segway. I'd love to see Beth's design too.

Those are adorable, Deb! I liked your 4th designs, too, though I forgot to tell you that. It was hard to come up with characters that could ride the Segways. I had to manipulate Minnie and Daisy, and they still don't completely work.

This is what I came up with for Vicki. I am going to take the Segway people off so that they can use it for another time. It is based on a shirt that I did for our family trip in 2006 that we had a lot of positive comments on.
Epcot-Segway.jpg

I also put a border around it for easier cutting.
Epcot-Segway-border.jpg

This is Miles in the original design.

And the rest of the family...minus the photographer (me).

For Vicki's I took the arm off of Spaceship Earth, since it's not there anymore. I also took off Aladdin and Jasmine and added Tink.

Get out your kleenex!

I got my DVD yesterday too but I didn't need any kleenex.:confused3 I did like it but it was just way too short!!!!

If you could keep my Grandma in your prayers that would be greatly appreciated.

Also my brother broke a tooth, he is in New Jersey all week for training for his job. He can not get a dental appointment at his dentist until April. Good thing it isn't bothering him.
:wizard: for your Grandma and brother! Good luck on your test too!:wizard:

I forgot to ask you all to please one of Cassidy's oldest and dearest friends in your thoughts and prayers. There has been a LOT of stuff going on in this family for the 6 years we've known them and Carla knows that we are her safe house. She was hospitalized last week for cutting herself. There is now a social worker/dept. of social services (who came to school) involved and I hope and pray if nothing else that Carla gets the help she so desperately is calling out for.
:wizard: Poor Carla. Hope she gets some help and a better home life!:wizard:

 For Cassidy. It must be hard for her to see her friend suffering!

The weather forecast has changed again for this weekend. Instead of cold and partly to mostly cloudy for our trek to BeanTown we are now looking at snow/rain showers.

Bernadette... is that a "little" snow or a lot?!?!?

I grew up in the mountains of western Pennsylvania but have lived (and driven) in Virginia and Georgia most of my adult life. I don't like snow any more and I am certainly not prepared to drive a 14-foot U-Haul in it!
Not too bad. We got some rain the other day that took away some of the snow already on the ground but made it all look nasty and dirty. We got less than inch this morning but at least things look cleaner. They are talking about a little bit (not measurable) Friday night and maybe Saturday morning. It is pretty cold here today (20s) but it should be high 30's by the weekend.

Ok this is wierd. I have off today & have nothing to do (except dishes! ). I ran all my errands yesterday. My house is spotless, ADR's made for August, clothes cleaned, hmmmm maybe I could make a few dinners to freeze................nah!!!!!!!!!
I will gladly come wash your dishes if you come make my house spotless AND finish my August ADR's.

Am I the only one that does not have a dishwasher? I keep saying I want one, but so far it hasn't happened. By the time I do get one, the boys will have moved out & I won't need it then lol
We have had one for about 20 years-so long before kids.

Well, just a quick post before I get back to work this morning.

It is wonderful knowing that I have such a great bunch of caring friends out there.
Glad to hear you got some answers on Becky and it seems relatively easy to fix.

Sorry about the UTI but it sounds like that is under control now.

Best of luck getting everything done so you can relax on vacation. I'm sure you'll have a great trip!!!!:wizard:

It's the first baseball tournament for Andrew's select team, and I'm terribly nervous. I know I've told you guys before that Andrew excells at soccer and just about everything else but baseball. He's good at baseball -- it's amazing he made the team, but he's one of the utility players so he only gets to play part of each game. He so wants to do well, and we do year-round lessons to help. He has really great base skills -- if he would have a good tournament it sure would set the stage for this summer and give him more confidence. I think the confidence thing is always going to be an issue as he struggles so with school and his expressive speech. Of course, the sensory issues don't help with this either. I keep hoping he'll decide he doesn't want to play, but I also know this is an important life lesson for him.
:wizard: Good Luck to Andrew!:wizard:

These are the 2 I did for Vicki
This was the first one, but I wasn't thrilled with the background and couldn't find one that I did like
Those are really great!!! One of us will have to take a photo of the spot in Italy where they let you take photos on the Segway tour. I've got some photos from my tour but it was so smokey that day. I'll try to remember to take a "blank" photo in May if we have nice weather.

Good or bad idea? :confused3

I need to do a bunch of cleaning today. I'll bring Colby to school then I can come home and get to it. Chris is going in for part of Colby's class to talk about being a mechanic and sharing some tools. Then he will drop him off at my parent's house and he can have some one on one time with Papa before I drop off the other kids at 3:15.
Cell phones sound like a great idea for your trip!

I bet Colby's class will LOVE to hear Chris and see his tools!!!!

The dental appt. went well. The crown feels 'normal', at least as far as I can tell with my mouth numb. Everytime I try to drink it runs out the side of my mouth.

Glad your appt went will this morning!

Have fun tonight!

Disney on the travel channel March 1st, starting at 2:00 pm EST.
COOL!! I told Emma we would make a countdown calendar starting March 1st. I bought some stickers to put on the calendar today at lunch. She is getting SO excited. Me too! It will be fun to watch some of that with her!

I ran to Ikea to get some frames for some Disney pictures I had that never got hung up. Also I got a huge frame to put my pins in...I hate that they are "away" & you can't see them.
That's great!

Hey!! Where are our tickers!
I miss them too!

our mail arrived today and i received a package from my friend that sent me the flowers. its an angel holding a puppy dog(i call all dogs puppies). ill take a picture in a minute and post it.
Sounds cute!

This is what I came up with for Vicki.

Those are great! Love your original one too!

Tomorrow morning I have the permanent crown put on my tooth. I hope once it gets put on it stays on. That is the most common issue that I hear, that they fall off.

I have had my fair share of crowns, and they have never fallen out except after literally 10 years. I also chew gum, etc and do all the things they suggest you not do ;) I know they CAN fall out, but I don't know that it's super common, at least not in my family's experience.

Well, I was able to salvage everything from my laundry except for Alyssa's dress. It was a navy dress with a white color and white cuffs. Yep, the orange ended up on the white and it just isn't coming out. Oh well, hopefully we will be wearing spring-y dresses soon anyway.

I'm glad you were able to salvage most of it. I'm sorry Alyssa's favorite dress was ruined! :(

I forgot to ask you all to please one of Cassidy's oldest and dearest friends in your thoughts and prayers. There has been a LOT of stuff going on in this family for the 6 years we've known them and Carla knows that we are her safe house. She was hospitalized last week for cutting herself. Absolutely.... I'm gald someone is involved now!

Elin I hope the weather is not bad for you this weekend & yes I think the ladybug is a good sign(it's a nice thought anyway lol).

Tammi good luck at the Dentist today!

We had a bunny in our yard this morning! (In the snow, the poor thing!)

Well, just a quick post before I get back to work this morning. I'm so far behind at work and don't know how I'll get the things done that have to be done! I wanted to stop in here and fill you in on Becky.

Becky had her table test yesteday. We had to leave here at 5:30 am to drive to Green Bay so we could be there by 8am. It's a 2 hour drive but you never know about the weather. Weather was great so we arrived a little early. I had taken some work to fill my time while she was getting the procedure and resting for the 4 hours after. She left the room at 10:45 and didn't return until 12:45. I was concerned because the procedure was only supposed to take about 1/2 - 3/4 hour. So needless to say, it was a wasted day of trying to get any work done for me. It turns out the doctor had issues with the procedure before hers so they didn't start until noon. She passed out on the first phase of the test. This is what we wanted. It means that they have found the problem and as far as problems go this is the best one for her blackouts. She has neuro cardiogenic syncope. This means that her neuro and cardio systems aren't in sync so her blood pressure drops when she stands. She was put on sudafed twice a day. They will try different meds to find what works to get them in sync. She had to rest for 4 hours afterwards so we left at 5pm.

About 3:30, I started to get serious symptoms of a UTI. I called my doctor and made plans to be tested first thing this morning. Well, on the way back, the symptoms got much worse so I ended up calling Chuck to ask him to meet me at the hospital's after hours clinic so he could take Becky home. I stopped 3 times to use restrooms along the way. My UTI had some very bad numbers! I got some primarine for the symptoms which gave me relief in about 1/2 hour and some antibiotics to take care of the bacteria.

Did I say I'm also very behind at work! I worked until 1am Tuesday night and was up by 5am yesterday morning. I don't know that I'll be back before we leave. We'll have Chuck's laptop and will spring for internet at least a couple of days while we are down there so I'll stop in next week.

Thanks for all your concern. Deb called and talked to Chuck & Becky. It is wonderful knowing that I have such a great bunch of caring friends out there.

I'm glad Becky's test found easily treatable, benign results. I hope you are feeling better quickly! :wizard:

Well I got my frames done & put up in the playroom. Its 2 pictures of Walt Disney. One he is very young & has all stuffed Mickeys all around him. The other is where he is older & he is drawing Mickey Mouse.

The pin frame did not work out so well. I need some creative input from you guys. The pins are so thick (with the post & the mickey closure thingy) that i cannot find a frame large enough in depth to put them in. I was thinking about corkboard but I want them behind glass since the kids are in that room all the time & I don't want any picked off & lost. Any ideas???

i know elizabeth will kill me when i say this. if these are keepers what about cutting off the pin part and somehow adhere it to the inside.

i took this picture last Wednesday after we got back from vet. i was trying to get a pic of a hawk that was in our backyard but it flew away so took shockers pic instead.

We frame all of our pins, using regular frames. We do add a matte, which gives us more room to work with. Kevin literally pushes the pins through the cardboard backing of the frame and then sticks the pin Mickey head back on. Here's an example of a picture from Matty's room:

ETA: Just to clarify, that's a blue matte with a cherry frame (most of the frame is cut out of the picture).

Karen, that's a nice picture of Shocker.

Tammi, have fun tonight!

Vicki, sending lots of :wizard: that your meds kick in fast. I hope you all have a wonderful trip to WDW!

Becky, prayers for your grandma.

Theresa, prayers for Carla, too!

Marci, best of luck with the audit. Hope Andrew has a great baseball season, too!

Great designs Deb and Beth!

:wave2: to everyone else! :)

i know elizabeth will kill me when i say this. if these are keepers what about cutting off the pin part and somehow adhere it to the inside.

:rotfl2: That's actually not a bad idea, but it would definitely destroy the pins.

Anne Marie - There are a couple of threads on the Collectors forum about displaying pins. I don't have any of ours displayed so I have never read the threads, but I know several people have asked.

DH and I went to the zoo today. :) He brought his new camera. It is REALLY windy today, but otherwise it is nice.
After the zoo we went to Target to get a gift card for his boss, then we grabbed lunch and came home to eat. We have been waiting for a couple of weeks for the refund on the gap insurance on the old car loan. DH has been calling for the past couple of days because we shold have had the check already. He finally got ahold of the lady today and the check hadn't even been printed yet! He signed the paperwork for the refund back on 2/12, and it was supposed to be sent to us on 2/15. So she managed to get the check ready this morning and we just went to pick it up. More money for WDW!!

Oh, and the shirts from Nordstrom arrived today! Exactly what I wanted, and it took less than a week to get them. From Florida. Definitely need to keep shopping at Nordstrom!

Julie does have preeclampsia, so please continue to keep them in your prayers.

I'm glad Kevin works with her DH...I sent some spaghetti and meatballs to work, so at least they have one night where they don't have to worry about dinner.

If anyone comes across any more Babies R Us coupons in the near future, could you let me know, please? Julie's shower is in a couple weeks. Thanks!

Karen, Good picture of Shocker.

Did I see you have a ticker about getting a Yellow Lab in 4 months? Will you wait to pick out a name when you see the dog? Or do you already have one in mind? :goodvibes

I am so happy for you. How old will the dog be when you get it?

Vicki - I hope you get to feeling better VERY soon and work miraculously gets itself done so you can relax and have a wonderful trip!

How in the heck are you going to get T-shirts made?!?!?!?!?

We already have the t-shirts. I'm going to print the designs (which as a computer major is easy for me) and I'll iron them on at Disney. As tired as I am, I only make mistakes if I try to do it now. I'll probably print a couple of extra copies of the designs too so that I have a backup in case of mistakes. :lmao:

That was the one thing that the girls wanted - matching tees for our Segway Tour so I want to try to make it happen.

This was just a quick post. I had to get on to get the designs from Deb & Beth so that I can get them printed. I'm packing now. Chuck & Becky will be home soon from classes. I'll have to help Becky finish packing. Our hope is to be out of here by 7pm.

That looks fantastic!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 So the black mickey head is on the outside/back of the frame? The frame I got today has a hard (almost particle board) feel to it so the pins wouldn't be able to go through that. So I need frames with cardboard backs then.
