DDA Chapter 4

Amy,
Continued :wizard: for Julie.

Karen,
What a nice picture of Shocker.

Well I got my frames done & put up in the playroom. Its 2 pictures of Walt Disney. One he is very young & has all stuffed Mickeys all around him. The other is where he is older & he is drawing Mickey Mouse.

The pin frame did not work out so well. I need some creative input from you guys. The pins are so thick (with the post & the mickey closure thingy) that i cannot find a frame large enough in depth to put them in. I was thinking about corkboard but I want them behind glass since the kids are in that room all the time & I don't want any picked off & lost. Any ideas???

I was going to tell you to ask Amy, because Kevin makes phenomenal framed stuff with their pins.... but I see she already answered that :)

Please show pictures when you're done, I think the pictures of Walt sound adorable!

Deb & Beth love your designs.

Tammi have a good time tonight!

Karen your flowers & the angel are pretty, nice picture of Shocker.

Prayers & :wizard: for Julie

Elizabeth sounds like you & dh had a good day together.

Bernadette, the countdown calendar will be so much fun for Emma!

Anne Marie your Disney pictures sound cute, good luck with framing the pins.

Vicki are you staying somewhere tonight before you fly out? Hope you can get a little bit of rest!

Marci good Luck to Andrew!

I'm not getting thread notifications again :confused3

I think our tickers will be back the 1st of the month, I hope so anyway!

yes i will be going back in july to get a yellow lab. when i talked to the trainer monday she said that at the moment they only have goldens or yellow labs for july class. i told her i wanted a yellow anyway. the way KSDS names the dogs is the pick a theme for the litter and they name the dogs on the theme of the litter. the dog will be between the age of 2 and 3. Shocker was 2 1/2 when i got her. Here is the website of the litter names. http://pups4ksds.org/litter.htm

I have a feeling my dog is daytona. vroom vroom

More good thoughts for Julie! :wizard:

Karen, I like the pic of Shocker! Some of those puppy names are very strange!:rotfl2: I am glad you have a new dog on the way! That is something to look forward to, although you will always miss Shocker.

That looks fantastic!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 So the black mickey head is on the outside/back of the frame? The frame I got today has a hard (almost particle board) feel to it so the pins wouldn't be able to go through that. So I need frames with cardboard backs then.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Kevin says the trick is to find a frame with a cardboard backing that isn't too flimsy but is stiff enough to secure the pins (yes, the mickey head remains on the outside of the frame back). The pins still usually touch the glass (especially 3-D pins), but the matte adds some depth (and it looks really nice too). We buy most of our frames at Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for clarifying that my use of "we" in my previous post was BS. It's all Kevin. :rotfl:

Shocker will always have a special place in my heart because she was my first service dog, we had many adventures, and she was our first family dog. she left a huge paw print on my heart.

Hey Glynis (or anyone else who might know), if you're on right now. If I sear/brown some pork chops before putting them in the oven at 350, do you know about how long I should cook them? The recipes I'm seeing say an hour at 350, but I didn't know if the searing would take off much of that time.

Thanks!!

Well, Tia, I am here but I have NO CLUE!:rotfl2:
DH says it depends on how thick your chops are.
We're pretty helpful, huh?

The dental appt. went well. The crown feels 'normal', at least as far as I can tell with my mouth numb. Everytime I try to drink it runs out the side of my mouth.

Tonight is the George Strait concert. I'm leaving work early so I can get home and change, then we will head to Richmond. We have 5:30 dinner reservations at a place just a few blocks from where the concert is. Thanks for the recommendation Elin.

have fun ! let me know how the concert was! and who opened for him? i saw him last year and he was great!

They aren't very think, only about 1", so I'm already wondering about the whole hour thing. I'll just check them after 30 and see how they're coming. Thanks for the help. ;) :rotfl:

Tia I usually cook pork chops for about an hour in the oven, checking on them every once in a while. I like to cook them a little crisp :thumbsup2

Thanks! I've never baked chops before, but had them out needing to be cooked. Mom and I both got stuff out for dinner on Sunday so we had double the pork ready to go (actually triple cause I had enough out for everyone, but no everyone was here for dinner after all).

I love this one -- too cute!

I've also been doing this...for my SIL. She's bored with what she's been cooking for us all, so I copied some recipes.

Okay, that's it, I'm going to have to go find that thread again! I'm seriously low on ideas now that I've been cooking regularly again.

moms smash and bash as you all call it found nothing so they did an ultra sound and found a small teeny tiny cyst. they think it is probably something like a boil but they are going to aspirate it next week just to make sure.

desi had her ob appointment today and there is only one. they did an internal ultrasound and the pictures were neat. we saw the head and the feet and the tiny little toes. we also think maybe a p**** but we are hoping it is the umbilical cord. she really wants a princess:

I'm glad there was good news for mom. I hope the aspirate tests come back negative as well. Sounds good for Desi too. I hope there's a princess: to be seen next time around.

Molly and I decided today that she is going to have a CandyLand birthday. I was trying to persuade her to have an all girl tea party but she is insistent that we invite one of her little boy friends. Someone on the CB posted a picture of the cake they did for their DD's 1st birthday.

When I showed it to Mo she loved it

I found a ton of stuff on Evilbay and all of it is relatively inexpensive. Stickers, tattoos and pencils for goody bags. I also found a Candyland rug gameboard, it's40" x 40". So I'm going to order that to play at the party. I also found some candy shaped foam beads to make necklaces. And then I figure we can decorate sugar cookies shaped like the game pieces in the different colors.

I think that we are going to rent a room at the Naval Academy, it's only $60 for the whole day, that way we will have plenty of room to set up different stations. Our house just isn't big enough. I am pretty excited and relieved that it's come together quickly and easily.

That cake is adorable! Sounds like a great theme and you can have lots of fun with it.

Hi everyone! Just sharing what for dinner here!
http://www.eatbetteramerica.com/recipes/dinner/caramelized-pork-slices.aspx
The sauce was great - and Tia, I can't cook pork either. I grew up on my Mom's pork that was always cooked until dry. It's hard to not cook pork long unless it's on the grill for me. (These actually simmered in the sauce for about 20 minutes while waiting for myBob to come home...and he's still not home...)
