DDA Chapter 17

Terry is scheduled for surgery sometime between noon and 1pm today. My girlfriend, Joey and I, will head up to Baltimore at 11am and stay until we know he is safely out of surgery. If all goes well, he will come home tomorrow.

Thanks again for all the good thoughts. I appreciate them.

:grouphug: :wizard: I hope that it is a short and very successful surgery

Elizabeth, is that a new tag?

I never knew you were a Jello Shot Chick!:thumbsup2 :upsidedow

Yes, it is new.

Good morning,

Been down with the bad cold/flu for a few days. I feel much better today but not 100%. I am down 4lbs this week so theres a bright side.

Sorry you have been sick, Anne Marie!

WOOHOO!!! Almost time!

Good morning,

Been down with the bad cold/flu for a few days. I feel much better today but not 100%. I am down 4lbs this week so theres a bright side.

Yuck, I hope you're 100% soon. Congrats on the loss though.

The school called looking for a sub this morning. I'm still not feeling great so I declined, but did have the chance to tell her that I'd like to work 2-3 full days each week. I think that accompanied by my waitress shifts will go a long way for us financially. Hopefully that means we've made it through the most difficult time of the year. Fingers crossed here.

The kids are ready for school. Colby is so excited that the gets to stay for the full day today. He gets to ride the bus. I wrote Hunter a note so that he can leave his last class a bit early to help Colby with the bus. It must be nice to have a big brother that is worried about you :lovestruck: Colby had asked Hunter if he could sit with him today.

I still have no appetite. I didn't sleep well again last night. After the house clears out I will go back to bed an hope that today is the last day of this crud.

Sounds like the best plan so you can be better soon. Hope Colby's full day goes wonderfully!

Robyn - I hope everything goes well today!

So Elizabeth is there something we need to know about you, Miss Jello Shot Chick :rotfl:

I'm so sorry you've been sick. I hope you feel 100% ASAP. That was the one thing about me being sick -- I wasn't hungry for the first few days... but then my appetite came back and I still didn't feel well. Hang in there!

More prayers said. Safe travels for you and your girlfriend.

sorry you are still under the weather. It sounds like you are the new favorite sub for the school -- that is terrific! What did you decide about giving swim lessons/safety courses?

Jake wasn't up when I left, so I don't know yet how he's feeling, but I'll check on him soon. I still have all this junk in my head, and I had terrible headaches over the weekend, but I feel marginally better today. Even though I kept pretty much to my points, I'm not seeing much change on the scale. Maybe I can add in some walking or something to jump-start.

To all those under the weather, I hope you all feel better today. :)

Have a good day, DDA!

Wednesday and New Year’s Eve – Part I

Animal Kingdom opened up at 7 today, but I just couldn’t get up early enough to check the bags and get there for opening. Instead, we left around 7:30, which gave us time to leave our bags with the bellman and have breakfast. We got over there about 7:45, and waited until 8 to get on the first set of safari trucks.

Here we are at Festival of the Lion King – I LOVE that show!

I don’t remember the order, but we did all the rides/shows we wanted to go on and had lunch at Pizzafari. At 10:45 Aaron got a page that MK was at stage 3. I felt sorry for all of the people who were trying to get in to MK and weren’t staying on property. I wasn’t feeling well, so we left AK about 1 or so. By the time we got over to go through the MK entrance to get to our hotel, the lines to get in to MK were backed way up. People were giving the CM’s a hard time about the park closing, so they had to bring in supervisors (we could see their cars cutting across to the main gates through the grass) to talk to the angry patrons. I felt so bad for those people waiting in line, as I knew what the hold-up was and knew they weren’t getting in quiet yet. We probably sat in that line 20 minutes or so.

If you look closely at the sign in this pic, it says to stay in your vehicle. So, Randy took a pic of the man in the car in front of us out of his vehicle…

We finally made it back to the hotel and got the keys changed for our new room. It had a gorgeous Castle view AND the daybed. (We watched Wishes from here every night and really took advantage of the view. It was also nice that we didn’t have to worry about Jake. The other nights, he had been standing on a chair so he could look out to the left to see the fireworks, though we could only see the really high ones since Sugar Loaf blocked our view.)

I went down to the concierge desk to ask them about urgent care facilities, since everything over the counter I had been taking for my sinus infection wasn’t working and I was miserable... in my Happy Place even…so I must have felt bad. They gave me fliers for two places who make house calls (there was no way I was getting caught outside that gate again and I honestly didn’t feel like driving anyway.) I started our laundry (of course, the washer wouldn’t work at first) and Randy finished it up. The boys were watching TV, playing Webkinz and other games, so I called the service. I have already fulfilled my deductible due to all the PT I did on my shoulder (that didn’t work), so it wasn’t going to cost much to have the doc come to me. The doc arrived around 4, and stayed until I practically pushed him out the door at 5:40. He talked a lot about sinus problems, infections, the meds he was giving me, Disney, how to file insurance etc. He also gave me my first round of medicine and arranged for the pharmacy to deliver my meds (for $5!).

While he was doing paperwork/calling the pharmacy to check on one of the regular allergy/sinus drugs I take, Randy and the boys got ready and headed over to our dinner at Yachtsman. I also was able to get my make-up touched up and tried to do a little to my hair. I changed clothes as soon as the doc left and took a taxi to dinner.

Have a good day, DDA!

I'm enjoying your trip report. I see you have a new tag too "Cruise Director Chick"

Good morning, DDA. Just a typical running day around here. Terra has dance this morning. It's observation day though, so that will be nice. We missed the one in Dec so I haven't seen her dance in a couple of months. After that, I've got to get to the post office. Easier today since Phil will be with us for dance. Now I can just run in and not get two kids out in the cold. This afternoon, we have a field trip to Whole Foods Market with Terra's Daisy troop. Hopefully, any snow yuckiness will continue to hold off until tonight so that we don't have to cancel the field trip.

Lindsay does the Pfizer/Wyeth merger effect Jonathan? I see that it was announced today. I was thinking that may have had something to do with the recent layoffs...or not :confused3

I promise my husband that I would head back to bed. I just had some toast and took tylenol an hour or so ago. Now I'll try to nap and maybe this headache will subside and I will wake up A okay :wizard:

Marci,
Your view sounds wonderful, sorry you were feeling sick during the trip though. pixiedust: for feeling better now.

Deb,
Feel better!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for everyone under the weather.

Tia - good luck with Erin and :yay: for finding some good house prospects!

Deb - I am glad that you made some better money last night. Also hope that you feel better this morning.

Lindsay (or anyone who knows) - Can you make some recommendations for Hawaii? My sister is thinking about going sometime this year for their 10th anniversary. She's sure she'll want to get out and do a little, but with things the way they are right now, laying on the beach with a stack of books is sounding pretty good all on its own. What island/area of an island would you recommend most? They'll try to trade with our RCI timeshare for a place to stay. Thanks!!

I was given a turkey at work today & it is frozen solid. I normally buy fresh(well not frozen lol), so I do not have to deal with waiting for it to thaw. But I am not complaining! Just wondering how long it will take a 12 pounds to thaw in the fridge?

Whatever you think would be a reasonable amount of time, it will take longer than that! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Probably 3-4 days, Janet.

Feel better, Anne Marie. If it is what I have, look to feel better in... I don't know how long. ;) I am still fighting it!

Tom and Bernadette - NOT LONG NOW!! :yay:
