DDA Chapter 13

Matthew's senior pictures came today. I'll try to scan them later.

I'm off to make dinner. Dh remembered something his mother used to make (back in the days when money was tight and ground meat was cheap) called Hamburger Gravy. It seems to be a lot like sausage gravy. I'm making it with mashed potatoes tonight.

I can't wait to see Matthew's pictures!

I have a funny story about your "Hamburger Gravy." Our school system used to serve it, and Bob and I both liked it. So, he asked for it when we were first married. I sent him to the store to buy flour and I proceeded to make dinner. We watched in amazement and some horror as the gravy on top of the mashed potatoes began to grow. Seems my Yankee DH didn't read the package (and neither did his wife). It was self-rising flour. Even the dog wouldn't eat it! :rotfl:

I have only had one wine I have ever liked. That was at California Grill and Terry choice it (well the waiter did for Terry). She let me have a taste of hers and I liked it so Chuck & I both ordered a glass of it. Yummy. I'd be more willing to try to find one I liked if it wasn't so expensive to try something that I am most likely not going to like. :confused3 It was a sweet wine. Then again, maybe it is better on my pocketbook if I don't like wine. Water and pop are so much less expensive. :lmao:

I sure did like that wine Just wish I could think of the name....will have to try to get help in finding that same wine in December!!!!!

Now we're just watching baseball, drinking really crappy wine. I have decided that I'm going to pick up the 'featured' wine at Jungle Jim's each week when I do my grocery shopping, and this weeks sucks. Plain and simple.

I looked at the website to see if I could see what wine you were drinking, Jennifer. I could not find their "featured" wine, so would you mind telling us what the really crappy wine was?? :confused3

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: You in a cooking class? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

That's right. Laugh it up.

Kyle passed his Step 3, with a wonderful score no less! :yay: :cool1:

Congrats to Kyle!

I have decided that since I do not have a degree in marketing AND since this is not MY homework that the SMU brochure is finished. I have wasted at least 20 sheets of paper trying to see what sort of bizzarro formatting surprises it had in store for me. I had to put a new black ink cartridge in the printer. I am absolutely finished! :headache:

Oh yeah, it's not "featured" in a usual "featured" way .... as in a big write-up or anything. I honestly think it's just whatever they decide to put up as a display on a given day, week, whatever. This time around it was "Big House Pink" and "Big House White" (www.bighousewine.com). To be honest, it got a bit better once it got a little air, I suppose...... after the first drink I honestly didn't think I'd be able to finish -- and a rose', in my opinion, is usually so friendly! It grew on me a bit, but still tasted kind of cheap.

(And here I am now, pretty much just embarrassed discussing wine with such a connoisseur  I totally describe wine by whether or not I like it, for the most part! :rotfl:)

Anyway, they have wine tastings, pairings, etc that we have yet to attend. I think someone there literally just picks out a wine to feature, put at a bit of a 'sale' price, etc. It's sometimes a really nice, expensive bottle of wine. It's sometimes a reputable (or popular) winery. And sometimes it's something local, something unique, etc. I thought it might be a nice way to pick up something new, considering the stock there is a bit overwhelming to just grab something random! ;)

Gylnis my heart and thoughts are with you at this time.:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Vicki and Chuck, my heart and thoughts will be with you tomorrow as you honor your dear Dad. He was such a wonderful man. I hope you are able to help your MIL through this difficult period. Strength to all.:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Theresa - Thanks for posting the sad news about Glynis' mother. I am so glad she was able to spend good time with her before the end.

Ok, now that the baseball game is over I have got to get to bed! I was going to bed early tonight, since I didn't get any sleep last night!

Goodnight!

I am NOT a connoisseur! NEVER, EVER be embarrassed to discuss your likes and dislikes of wine with me! I describe wines exactly how they taste to me. I am not one to find petroleum or sweat undertones to a wine. I would call it cheap! :rotfl: Keep trying those new wines. You will soon know what you like and won't be afraid to wade into their vast cellars!

Theresa - I am assuming that Glynis is not at home, right? So sending something there would not work. :confused3

Tammi - I am so sorry there is almost nothing you can do to help with the search for your friend. Again, I say it is so very sad. :(

Bob brought Kristin to dinner tonight following my rehearsal. He was just not himself and he left early. When I got home 30 minutes later he had already gone to bed. In the kitchen I found another letter from the CEO of his company. In addition to the 4 facilities they closed last week, today they let 28 corporate people go. Again it does not affect him directly, but will touch people he knows and cares about. This is all getting very scary.

Oh Elin,,,,it would be   :grouphug: :grouphug:

to your Bob

No time to catch up this morning,

Just a quick good morning then off to work.

Glynis wasn't kidding when she said her mom was going downhill fast:

Theresa,

My mother passed away tonight at about 8:00 p.m. My brother and father were with her at the end, and said that she was very peaceful. I'm leaving first thing in the morning with my sister to help make arrangements for the viewing and funeral. I'd be grateful if you could pass this information along to the DDA for me.

Glynis
I"m so sorry to hear this. :grouphug: :sad1:
