DDA Chapter 13

I am NOT a connoisseur! NEVER, EVER be embarrassed to discuss your likes and dislikes of wine with me! I describe wines exactly how they taste to me. I am not one to find petroleum or sweat undertones to a wine. I would call it cheap! :rotfl: Keep trying those new wines. You will soon know what you like and won't be afraid to wade into their vast cellars!

Yeah, I just laugh when I read about various woods and flowers I'm supposed to be tasting! :rotfl:

I'm mostly just afraid to try new things, for this very reason :rotfl: I have a pretty decent selection of wines I like, mostly reds that I had in Rome, and I just rotate between those. Of course, on occasion, I also buy ones that sound or look funny, too! :teeth:

Bob brought Kristin to dinner tonight following my rehearsal. He was just not himself and he left early. When I got home 30 minutes later he had already gone to bed. In the kitchen I found another letter from the CEO of his company. In addition to the 4 facilities they closed last week, today they let 28 corporate people go. Again it does not affect him directly, but will touch people he knows and cares about. This is all getting very scary.

:( What a sad, frustrating time for him watching it affect so many people he knows!

Oh do they sell Apricot wine? I still can't find it around here :sad2:

I don't know but I can definitely check for you! Is it usually an American wine? Or more common elsewhere? Any specific kind you'd like me to look for?

Thank you all, I think she is a cutie myself!

I am calling it a night, chat with you all tomorrow :goodvibes

She is precious! Please post more pictures.

Glynis wasn't kidding when she said her mom was going downhill fast:

Theresa,

My mother passed away tonight at about 8:00 p.m. My brother and father were with her at the end, and said that she was very peaceful. I'm leaving first thing in the morning with my sister to help make arrangements for the viewing and funeral. I'd be grateful if you could pass this information along to the DDA for me.

Glynis

Oh no. Sending lots of PD and prayers to Glynis and her family. Glynis -- take care of yourself and Peanut. I was six months pregnant with Andrew when Randy's father and my grandfather passed away (within 30 minutes of each other). There was so much to do (and one was in Kaufman, one was in Georgetown, 3 hours away) and I really wanted to help, but thankfully, everyone rallied around and made sure I got as much rest as possible.

Kyle passed his Step 3, with a wonderful score no less! :yay: :cool1:

That is great news!

Soccer tonight and homework. Andrew didn't even finish his homework last night. He's going to do it on the commute in. I hope he doesn't have as much tonight. We are having terrific weather here! It was around 40 when I left for work and it's supposed to warm up to 72 or so. I so wish we could spend the day outside.

Have a good day everyone. :)

I bought it in Switzerland & fell in love with it! I didn't want to chance bringing any home in our checked luggage & shipping would have probably been a doozy :guilty:

Last night Jackie and her friends went to a concert to see The Plain White T's....they wanted matching T-shirts for the concert so I quickly designed something for them...

Anyway...she came floating through the door last night, apparently all the band members signed their t-shirts!!

Now she wants to frame the darn thing :rotfl2:

OK, tekkie friends... I am trying to open a document that was sent to me that has fonts that are not installed on my computer. Don't ask me why the "Broadway" font is not on here... it is supposed to be according to Microsoft. I cannot seem to send it to myself from another computer by attaching it to an email. Any ideas how I can find it without having to pay $30 for it???

:( What a sad, frustrating time for him watching it affect so many people he knows!

As horrible as this is to say (and I haven't said it out loud to him), I am very thankful that he still has his job. When we went through this back in 1990 he was one of the first ones to be cut. I do not want to go through that again. We are still recovering. I am not sure we could do it a second time.

On another not so good note... today is Kathrin's 30th birthday. Last night some friends took her out to dinner and coming out of the restaurant she slipped on the wet pavement and fell. She has a nasty shiner but more importantly she has a broken tooth. She called me in tears this morning. She asked what more could possibly go wrong in a week's time. I was afraid to discuss this with her at this point. Please send some good thoughts her way. I think she could really use them.

I think that is a great idea! It is certainly better than her wanting to wear it all the time and not washing it in case the autographs came out!

Morning everyone!

Janet - your package is in the mail. It went out this morning via USPS.

Elin - I received a package from you today! Thank you! (And it's all in one piece too!) I might be able to theme a room around him soon...

And to everyone else that's talking about wine - I just started my Matron of Honor and bridesmaid's Wine of the Month Club! They were shipped out yesterday AND I get to see what they sent!
So if anyone wants to "play along" with them (and me...) this month's selections are:
Festival'34 Merlot 2006
Cline Viognier 2007

Are you able to go to Microsoft.com and check and see if you can download it from there?

I am glad he arrived in one piece! I was afraid I was going to have to hand deliver him if there was a problem this time. For those who don't know, the adorable running rabbit figurine I sent to Chanon for her "virtual shower" arrived in multiple pieces the first time it was shipped. Thank goodness I had insured it and the USPS "paid up" so I could have the shop owner re-order it!

I have actually had the second one, and the first has grapes in it from the Paso Robles area that we visited in the summer of '07. Ought to be a nice wine! :thumbsup2

I did try that! There are no longer any font downloads for my Office 2003. And I don't think I want to buy Office 2007 just to get the darned font. :rotfl:

I hear you, Elin. Randy has had the misfortune to be caught in downsizings, political tug-of-wars (between managers, not with him) and other things. I've been concerned since he's only been at his job since March. I've been trying to not complain about his long hours because I'm just so thankful he has a job right now.

Poor Kathrin. I hope her day/week improves significantly. (And you did remember to tell her never to ask what else could go wrong...) :grouphug:

I better get back to work. I just checked back in to see if we have any updates from Glynis.

when you open it...doesn't the program replace the font with another one
