DDA Chapter 13

it allegedly happened last month...which would explain why the young lady was over at our house every day for nearly a week. This is the young lady who knows that our house is open any time for her. I ended up giving as much information as I knew about the family. The young lady is a recovering (I hope) cutter. Her mother thinks my daughter is a bad influence....I told the officer that while I know my kid isn't perfect she isn't a bad influence.

Took them long enough to get around to investigating it! I hope they get things sorted out. Why does the mom think Cassidy is a bad influence? Do you let her walk to Dollar Tree in the dark?

DH just called to tell me there was an owl sitting on a ledge in our parking lot this morning. He wants it to come live on our balcony. I told him if he puts some dead rats out there maybe he can entice it.

She thinks all high schoolers/teens are bad, horrible, there is nothing good about them. The schools are just horrible.....you get the picture. My kid gets lumped in there even though Cassidy has been the only one to stick by her child since 5th grade...through thick and thin. Part of the mother's paranoia is the fact that we believe her daughter that the family is nutters and unhealthy. Can't have the real world knowing such things.

What does he think the owl will do? Make mail deliveries??

I expect he thinks it will pose for pictures.
He is off tomorrow. Wonder if he will go stomping around in the parking lot looking for the owl in the pre-dawn hours with his camera? Good thing the cop in the next building knows him.

I just received this note from Glynis:

Theresa,

I'm so sorry I haven't been online. I just spent the week with my mom, and got back to find that my computer died while I was gone. Alan just gave me his extra laptop, so I'm back online, but having a hard time connecting to the DIS.

Could you pass a message along to the DDA for me? I won't be online for some time. Things with my mom are going downhill very fast! Basically, her heart is turning into a stone, her dialysis isn't working well, and she's not going to last much longer. I'm just going to be flexible and do whatever I can to help make her last days happy. So, I'm not sure when I'll be around. I don't want people to worry about me, so I'm hoping you'll update everyone. I'll post when I can. I'm actually feeling pretty ok with all this. Mom and I had some great talks while I was there, and she's at peace. We went over her wishes, and things were made very clear that will make things easier.

Thank you for posting that, Theresa, Glynis' family is definitely in my prayers. I'm so glad she's been able to spend time there!

a call from the local police at 8:30 in the morning to talk to you about your daughter is not the way to start the day!!

The police officer was calling to tell me that she was going to talk to Cassidy about an alleged assault at the HS on one of her friends. Still makes my heart race.

That would be terrifying, Theresa!

Robyn - Well, if the owl eats the rats they won't clutter the balcony, right? DH is seriously all about that owl. It will not surprise me in the least if he goes out looking for it in the morning.

Our mascot is a falcon. I think they eat field mice. They probably share them with the owls.

I am glad Christopher was excited to go...both Cassidy and Abi loved going to their overnight trips!!

I am pretty sure none of the elementaries I went to had a mascot. Oh, no, one was the Gators. Ironically that was a TX school, not a FL one.

My Jr. High was sharks, and my high school was warriors.
