DDA Chapter 13

We are home. We left yesterday. I just went for the afternoon. His mom called tonight and is doing well. Chuck made prime rib, potatoes and beans for his dad and sister on Friday night I guess. His dad was gushing about how wonderful it was and how Chuck did it ALL himself. :lmao: He was absolutely amazed. My FIL is not allowed in the kitchen. He grills the meat but that is all he is allowed to do.

Theresa - Cassidy looks lovely! :goodvibes

Speaking of houses...
The family I sat for last night are long-time clients of mine. Their DD was in Brother's class when they were 2, and now she is 4.5. Their DS was about 10 mos. the first time I sat and he is turning 3 tomorrow. Anyway, they just moved into a new house. A HUGE new house. The downstairs is pretty self-explanatory, but the upstairs is kind of confusing. 5 bedrooms, at least 4 full baths, a playroom, and a laundry room. There are 2 sets of stairs, so that confused me, too. It's a good thing the little guy didn't fuss after I put him to bed because it would have taken me a long time to find his room again!

Vicki - Good luck with the work decisions! :wizard:

Jen - you must be even hoarser than you were before the football game! This has been quite the day for last second game wins/losses and OTs!!

Heckuva game, Jen. Sorry your boys lost, though. :(
Let me tell you, i was going CRAZY! because the eagles were playing, we did not get the game at home, so dad and i went to a local sports bar--of course, mostly eagles fans...i have never screamed so much in a bar in my life! They didnt play the best, but still would have loved a win!

Right now is the most beautiful time of year here because of the colors. It is absolutely amazing. However, if you want to swim in Lake Michigan or Lake Superior, you want to be here at the end of July or beginning of August. The beaches are gorgeous so anytime during the summer is great.

I would love to come up this time of year. Like right now. I am busy both days every weekend until the weekend of Nov. 15th.:scared: :scared1: :headache: Mostly all work related, but not all but their is something on my schedule. I am thinking about just going away even though I have lots to do.

What is the nearest airport?

I love fall, it is one of the reasons I did not stay in FL. Plus FL is too flat. That is why I keep thinking I should move to Georgia or the Carolinas. Instead of back to FL.

I have to take my camera with me this week and next as the leaves are starting to turn. It is supposed to be in the 80's the next 2 days. It is going to be uber hot in our office as the heat is on and we can not just turn it off. It is like a day long process to switch from air to heat.

We usually fly out of Green Bay WI. It is about 2 hours from here. We have an airport in Iron Mountain but it is expensive. There is also an airport in Marquette which we fly out of if we can get decent prices.

Becky  Your posts seem so unhappy ever since you started your current position. Would finding a new job help or do you need a complete change? You certainly seem most happy when you are on vacation, which I guess could be said for all of us :confused3

We watched our show and have gotten 2/3 of the boys to bed. Nick will be going soon, and I won't be far behind him. I just took the Tussinex. I am praying that it stops this cough. I need a break. I called for my schedule and it is not done yet, but I will be working at 4:15 tomorrow. At least I know that it will be no more than a 3 day schedule this week. I'm sure working more hours has tired me out some too.

I was thinking the same thing. :grouphug: Becky.

I've been thinking the same thing. Becky, have you looked into switching positions or going back to Florida?

Well they came and we forgot to take pictures. Rats. Mya was quite shy at first, but then I had her show them her room. That opened the gates of conversation and she was all talkative then. We spoke with John while Paula started asking Mya about her wish. I was surprised she never once mentioned Hannah Montanah but talked about how cool it would be to hang out with Arial and her princess friends. Surprised about the paperwork, I thought I was buying a new home. While we did that Paula and Mya played and talked. She stated that she really enjoy's Arial because she is a Mermaid AND a Princess. The other's are just Princess's. She also thinks it's cool that Arial wants to walk, I think this is her same desire. She does walk, but it is with assitance of braces and she has a staggard gate that is noticable by others.

Well they said they would get back to us with details.

That sounds awesome Mac. I'm glad to hear that she opened up.

Most of Junior High, High School, and college I was away somewhere most weekends. I am not able to do that with my previous or current job. Even at my previous job I was away places for periods of times.

I feel I spend most of my time driving all over. I do not mind driving, but it is not an efficient use of my time. I am working in a triangle as my service units this year are more spread out then last year. There is a 35 mile gap between one service unit and all the others.

I am supposed to work 35 hours a week. I work more then that most weeks. I feel I can never accomplish everything I am supposed to.

I have very few friends in PA. But I like this state it is gorgeous in areas. The weather is decent most of the time.

I would love to move back to FL, or the Carolinas, or Georgia. The economy scares me and I truly do not know what I want to do. I hate job searches. I feel lost and I do not know what I want to do with my life.

Sorry to babble on and on. Thanks for listening.

Sounds like a great initial meeting, Mac. I can't wait to see what they say when they get back to you!

You sound like Kathrin a year ago, Becky. I hope you can find what you need.

Chuck and I are off to enjoy the hot tub and night sky. We'll probably end up discussing Disney. We are still going back & forth on whether we are going to Disney for my birthday (or the week-end before). The flights are down to $268 each. I don't know if either of us can wait until March. We are both missing Disney.

So we are on the bus. First we are supposed to make a grocery store run. We drive around and do not find the store, turn around and drive some more. Turns out we had the wrong address. We had 915 and the address was 9150. Or a similar number. The address had us way far away from where we were supposed to be. We ended up finding the store. After a quick stop, we hit the road again to the port. After about 45 minutes we arrive. I think it was about 10:15am.

Now I was not smart enough to keep a camera out with me on the bus. I should have known better. So my pictures start again once we are at the port.

We later find out that we were one of the first busses to arrive. Some of the others did not stop at a store. Or their was confusion about if the bus was for them. Even the others that were left at the stop we got on at. Got there awhile after we did.

So we unloaded the bus. Told the porters to take our bags and then headed inside.

We rode the elevator upstairs with a port employee as our escort.

We got in line to check in at the Port

Before long we were checked in. They forgot to give us our Castaway Club lanyards, so Stephen ran back for some.

We were number 13, I was hoping that it was not bad like as so many are superstitious of the number. I am not. Although I could not believe how high the number was. It appeared that as we waited they were putting smaller amounts of people in each group then at Port Canaveral

The port at Los Angeles was divided into two sections, you had to go into the second section to board the ship. But people could sit over on the 2nd side. We tried to get over to the other side. But it was full, so we had to sit on side the elevator and escalators unload to. So we sat on that side for a period of time.

We found out that some bags were just left on the curb, from our bus if a porter was not told to claim them. Although everyone did get their bags.

Eventually we moved to the other side of the building. They had a few activities going on this side. There was a band, kids activities, and characters.

We got in line for Mickey as the line was short. I am not one to spend time in character lines. But while waiting in the port I have nothing else really to do.

Before long we were on the ship and they announced our names. We were finally on the Magic despite all the craziness. It was odd getting on the 4th deck instead of the third.

Becky - I am sorry things aren't terrific at your job. I can also understand how any job in this economy is better than no job at all. Trying to relocate and find a new job would be complicated. Maybe just browse around for another job an dsee if you can find anything you really want to apply for. Of course they will want to know why you aren't happy in your current job, and how you word that will be crucial. It always sounds like you are horribly overscheduled. If you are happy that way then that's one thing, but if you feel like you are running every minute of every day maybe you should cut back on the "non-essential" activities. Take a day or two and do NOTHING and see if that gives you a better perspective.

Becky -

Theresa - all the girls looked lovely. I hope she had a good time.

Amy & Deb - I hope you are starting to feel better. I never had the diaper woes that you are having, so no advice from me. Duct tape does sound appealing though. ;)

Elin - how was your soup?

No school and no work for me tomorrow. YAY! I need to take the kids for haircuts tomorrow, and return shoes and an outfit for Alyssa. Then maybe we can do something fun, like decorate for halloween or go to the pumpkin patch.
