I don't usually get into political discussions but I agree that this year we are being bombarded with a lot of negativity. After having just put two kids through college I can practically guarantee that Obama had both academic and need-based scholarships for any schooling he received. McCain's education was paid for too! I also know that many of my friends and then subsequently their children were able to travel to Europe on a shoestring, so none of those comments hold any water with me.

I think that both candidates are intelligent, savvy men who have hired the best spin doctors out there. They can make anything from the past of the other party look horrible. They can also make the attacks on their own candidates look like it is a mortal wound that should not have been inflicted.

I am not looking at any more advertising and deleting all political emails and answering machine messages for the next month. I am basing my vote on the general beliefs of the man who is running. I am not picking a party. I am not looking at what happened to him 35 years ago. The moral character of the man is what will finally decide my vote. And guess what? I have not yet decided who I am going to vote for...

I completely agree with this including the indecision at this point. Now, if it were a VP race, my mind would be closer to being made up.

That is very sweet of you, Tammi.

Here is the situation. If we do a 2BR from 12/22-12/27... should be 230 points. I think that is all I am interested in. Here is why:

If we got 2 studios we would need one for 12/22-27 (82) and one from 12/24-27 (66) which is fewer points.

BUT, I think the chances of us getting studios close to one another with such different booking dates is pretty slim, don't you? So I figure if we can't get the 2 BR we would just go back to plan B and look into 2 rooms at a moderate.

Yesterday Emma had her field trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Luckily, Eric and I were able to ride on the bus. But I was correct that the chaperons picked to ride on the bus were the 3 I suspected. They always pick new chaperons for each trip, sure!! But what mattered is that we had a really nice time. Emma loved the museum. We were only there an hour so she is insistent we go back. The museum holds the largest collection of Matisse. 2 sisters from Baltimore collected them along with some Picasso's and Van Gogh's.

Glad you & Emma had such a good day together, enjoy the apple orchard!

Let me just say how happy i am that tomorow is friday--i still have no voice, which will be interesting tomorrow--hopefully i can talk a little bit! Luckily, my kids have art in the morning and then its lunch/recess..after that, they have 15 min of spanish, then it will be time for rest/snack, then an hour assembly--so hopefully ill be able to get through!

Nothing much on tap today...I gave Cassidy a mental health day...last night she was in a funk and nothing I said could get her out of it or her to tell me what it was about. I did finally deduce part of it was boy related...I am seriously happy that Abi shows no interest in boys!!

OK, you DVC owners... There is/was a guy on the DVC rent/trade board offering points for OKW that would be prefect for our trip in December. We could get a 2BR at OKW for the exact number of points he is offering. A few people had posted on his thread but I PMed him hoping for a response. The thread is now closed and no one has received a response.

I know if you don't maintain your thread on there it gets closed. But there is also supposition that there is absolutely nothing available at Christmastime at the DVC resorts and he probably is not able to rent them out in time.

Do any of you know for certain that there is nothing available?

I see that Tammi is looking into it for you. 2 weeks ago I couldn't get ANYTHING of any size at any DVC resort for Oct 18 & 19th. I wouldn't be surprised if everything is booked. Today I was able to get the 18th at OKW. I could only get at 1 bedroom though so we will only list 4 on the ressie . It is still big enough for us for one night. We don't need room cards for EMH so it's no big deal. I am considering booking something for breakfast on the 19th though or maybe dinner on the 18th. We need to talk it out. I don't think we'll tell the kids that plans have changed

I'm glad that you get a day to rest!

We have school today, but we're off Friday and Monday. I don't teach Fridays or Mondays, so it doesn't do me much good. The kids need a day to sleep in, though, so they are happy for Friday. Monday they still have cross country practice and then we're heading to Syracuse to look at schools.

Garrett & Riley have a four day weekend as well & I am off Sat. - Mon.

For me, I am looking at my economic situation today compared to what it was 8 years ago...and since it is certainly NOT better (with no end in sight) today...I can not even remotely consider voting in the same party. (But that's just me)

I took advantage of our 77-degree gorgeous weather to get the lawn mowed! One less thing hanging over my head. Also another way to procrastinate on a decision for the December trip.

I just typed up the exhange lists for our 4 recipients. I need to take that with me. Maybe tonight I can look up all the addresses that we need for the hotels, port, rental car places and get those programmed into Jill our GPS.

I also managed to clean Hunter's room from top to bottom. I'm not sure where all those dust kitties or shall I call them lions came from. No wonder why Riley never goes into his room

I'm pretty sure one of my lovely "vectors" gave me the flu last year, so I will definitely get the shot this year. We also have a boy in our class that is immunocompromised due to a liver transplant, so I want to be sure that I'm not passing the flu along.

YAY if you don't owe anything else on the colonoscopy! We haven't received anything to let us know what we owe on the mammogram or echocardiogram. Nor have I heard any results (so I am going with "No news is good news"). Today we received the insurance paperwork on the PAP, and I owe about $17 for that.

They actually said that the mist is approved for ages 2 & up this year! But I couldn't get ahold of Momboss to ask her which one she wanted, and Princess has that chronic cough that I suspect is asthma related so we did the shot. Princess said "That HURT!" She was quite indignant. But she got over it in less than 15 seconds so it wasn't that bad.

I know we will owe the lab for the biopsies. We'll see what else they bill us for. I am really glad the billing office decided to just wait and see what the insurance did instead of having us pay it all up front. Hopefully your portion of the remaining bills won't be too bad!

Mom should be arriving at the chemo center right about now. I probably won't have time to call her until I get home from work. Princess has ballet and DS has band practice, and I don't know if Momboss and DH are going to finish work in time to help me pick the kids up. The kids both finish at 5:30.

I hear you...

choosing a president is not too difficult for us right now....wondering how bad things are going to get on the other hand I find really scary. we have friends and family that are in absolute economic disaster....as horrible as we feel for them...we pray it won't happen to us

We don't know anyone that is in that situation (yet), but I am feeling very scared just the same. I am worried about my parents who I know have money in the stock market. I am worried for my friend whose dh in in retail. I worry about dh's job and our own stock losses. It's just a scary time, because I don't see an end in the near future.

Randy couldn't get the shower fixed last night -- wrong size parts again. And he bought a bunch of things to try. I might just have to call the plumber. I did get a little more done on clean-out, but homework got in the way.
