I am5-6 miles down from the Pocono Racetrack I can hear the cars go around the track, whenever there is something going on up there.

Cool, we may be in your neck of the woods then :thumbsup2

The orthodontist is pleased with Nick's progress since he had 2 permanent teeth removed. We have another 6 month reprieve :goodvibes He will reassess then and we'll go from there :thumbsup2

Colby and Chris are still sleeping :confused3

:rotfl:

Thanks for all the good wishes!!!

I had looked there when I was searching for it. Isn't that bread amazing?:goodvibes

Chris came home from work a little while ago. He isn't feeling well. It must be bad because he never comes home sick. He and Colby are taking a nap. I need to pick at least Nick up as school since he has an orthodontist appointment at 3. Hunter can either ride the bus home or come with me.
:wizard: for Chris!!!

Janet,
Thanks for the link. I have been on Chanons site thinking how cool it is to have such a thing..never had that when I was getting married..love it!

Hi there,

I know this has nothing to do with this thread but I am really stuck. I'm looking for personalised designs for my ds who's nine. I would like to give him a personalised letter or something similar each day of our holiday. If you can help I'd really appreciate it.

Kind regards from Scotland:flower3:

Yay for not having to go back for 6 months! :cool1:
I hope Chris feels better soon! :wizard:

Hi, Wendy!
I'm not sure how many of us on this thread still do any designs. (I have never designed anything, I just come here to chat.) You might try posting your request in a new thread on the main DISign board. :)

OK, so I figured out how to print both sides of the paper, but now the graphics and text are going to drive me over the edge! When I type something in one column, the stuff in the column next to it moves! I don't want it to move! And the logo on the cover won't move. :headache: It is down too low, but no matter what I do when it prints it won't move any higher. Grr. I have already decided that since SMU costs $43,000 RIGHT NOW that we are NOT going to send DS there. Not sure what the point of this project is, other than to frustrate me beyond words! (No, it's not my project, but if I can't get the stuff formatted there is little chance that DS will be able to do it!)

:wizard: for your meeting. I hope you can get your computer fixed.
Thanks! Got my computer fixed very fast. I needed a new keyboard. I thought I might have been loosing my mind last night and forgot my password. Of course they do make it rotate it pretty often and have lower/uppercase letters, numbers and symbols. And I was able to reschedule the meeting til 2:00 so I was much more prepared for it. It went better than anticipated. Next meeting at 10 tomorrow.

It will be blissfully peaceful in my house until Oct 13th. The boys and their family left for WDW and will be not be back until that Monday. :yay: :yay: I hope and pray that the adults can get along so that the kids can enjoy it. From the bits and pieces I get from the boys' parents it has already been a bumpy road. I plan to enjoy these next few days as much as I possibly can!!
:woohoo: Enjoy your peace! Hope the boys have fun!

It's pouring here.
It was raining so hard this morning that Joe asked if they were going to have school. Luckily it let up before he had to get on the bus.

the leaves are drooping and falling off fast.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Bernadette I hope things calm down at work for you :wizard:
Thanks! Thinking of my Jan trip and starting to think about May keep me going.

:worship: :worship: :worship:
Our house appraisel is tomorrow...Please send all the pixie dust you can for a good appraisel! We have been working like dogs to get things "perfect".
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Deb,
i can so sympathize with Hunter right now. I m having ear pain along with my sore throat. Last night I told Jeff it felt like my ear was on fire. I have a 3pm Dr. appt.
:wizard: Hope you're feeling better soon!

I suppose I should put my shoes on and go buy some clear liquids. DH can have broth and Jello and that sort of thing, but nothing red, orange, or purple. So I guess he gets lime Jello? Or lemon? Yum. :rolleyes1
:wizard: Good luck with all that! And good luck with your ...um...I mean DS's project.

I just made the invitation for Virginia's first birthday.
WOW! It seems like you just told us you were pregnant!

Chris came home from work a little while ago. He isn't feeling well. It must be bad because he never comes home sick.

Things are getting there...TOday was the best day, so we will see how tomorrow goes!
That sounds promising!

Ugh.
DS has been getting in trouble at lunch and failing to mention it. So today he got in trouble for the FOURTH time this year. The resource officer told him she was going to call me, so he figured he better tell me a call was coming.
I decided to go in the school and find an administrator for myself. Apparently he and his friends like to be silly and immature. Apparently DS is often the instigator of this behavior. They throw rocks at each other, hit each other with their lunchboxes, generally act like imbeciles.
Yesterday one of the boys flipped one of the special ed kids on his back in the courtyard, and DS was lucky enough to be standing right there. Now they are saying DS is engaging in bullying. PERFECT!

In elementary a kid was telling a story about his brother doing something. DS said that was a stupid thing to do. The kid came back the next day and told DS that he told his brother DS said he was stupid, and now the brother was going to come to school and shoot DS. I was LIVID. I called the principal and she did NOTHING. We had problems with that kid for 2 years.

Now DS is standing next to a kid who gets thrown on the ground and DS is a bully? Great! DS never touched the kid!

I know DS is immature and silly. I KNOW that. I also know he can not anticipate a situation escalating. It's that "Lack of self-preservation" we talked about a month or so ago. But for him to be labeled as a bully? That is just inaccurate. The administrator says "Well, most bullies are kids that have been bullied themselves." Yes, I am aware of that. But saying that makes me look like I am one of those clueless moms who can't believe anything bad about her child. I am not clueless, and DS is NOT a bully!

Today there was some big flap because Kid A took something that belonged to Kid B, so someone else got something that belonged to Kid A and wouldn't give it back, and they all went round and round. And in the end of course DS is one of the ones who gets called into the office by the resource officer. DS's mistake was being involved in the first place. He got Kid A's item and returned it to him, but he didn't get credit for that, he got in trouble for being part of it to begin with.

There is one kid who is definitely a troublemaker, and I have told DS to stay away from him. I have also told him the silly behavior HAS TO stop. So we'll see. I don't know if he CAN stop, because I don't know if he has the ability to recognize that silly behavior is starting and stop it before it gets out of hand.

The administrator is just concerned that eventually somebody is going to go too far and a fight is going to break out. DS said all of the boys have been approached about being silly and too much horseplay, yet they continue to do it. The administrator did tell DS he can ask for a library pass and go read in the library if he wants to get away from the situation, but he likes to spend lunch with his friends. I don't know what to do. :confused3

well the Dr said that my ears were clear so no infection. The rapid strep test came back negative. She thought it was strep or tonsillitis. So I am on a Z-pack.

Emma loves school but she's having a rough time figuring out where/how she fits in. She had a tomboy pal in preschool but all the girls in her K class are real girly girls. She tells me the boys don't want to be her friend.

SO....earlier this week Emma comes home and tells me she had to go the principal's office because a classmate hit her. She understood that she wasn't in trouble but I was surprised that her teacher didn't call me. I emailed her teacher and told her I wanted to know what happened. Her teacher called me and told me the child that hit her has impulse control issues. When they asked him what happened he would only say that his brain wouldn't work fast enough to tell him not to do it but wouldn't say why he did it. Sounds like his behavior has been excused in the past. Emma hasn't had any problems with him since.

So when I was talking to the teacher I mentioned that Emma is struggling trying to fit in. She suggested I look for books in the library about differences so Emma will be comfortable with who she is. Emma has always been comfortable with who she is. She's struggling to find a friend who is comfortable with who she is. The teacher assured me its still early in the year and friendships will come. Emma is still happy to go to school so I'm trying not to get too worried yet.

I'm getting ready to print our door designs. I don't have magnetic paper but have magnetic tape. Should I put the paper in a plastic sleeve and then use the magnetic tape on that or just on the paper? (It's a heaver cardstock type paper.)

I would...but ive never done the door designs so that is just a guess from me :)

Well, i did nothing but read tongiht--I started a book and finished it tonight--barely put it down! so here i am

Good luck, Anne Marie! :wizard:

Jennifer - I hope you feel better soon! :wizard:

Robyn - I am excited to meet all of you and to see Marci! Right now we are haivng great weather, so hopefully it will last! I can remember years past when it POURED the day of Race for the Cure, and I can also remember years where it was so cold at the AIDS walk that I thought my ears were going to break off. The 2 events are typically a week or 2 apart. One year it stormed the night before the AIDS walk and blew all of the porta-potties into the street. Luckily I wasn't one of the committee who had to go pick them up!
So Joe is coming to brunch and the Arboretum, then skipping out to go to his deal before we go to dinner? Do I have that right?

Marci - Joe lives west of Oak Lawn instead of east. But still not far at all!

That sounds right. I'll double check with him on the Arboretum but I'm sure he'll be in.

I've read but haven't had much time to do much of anything. I managed to bake 3 trays of brownies, 2 to take with me and 1 for the girls. I had to take Eric's parents to the airport this morning which turned into Mo, Lucy and I running some errands. That took all day. We came home and I got our goodies put away and a wish Gail a Happy Birthday. We then ate dinner and ran out to get ice cream, school fundraiser. Then Emma, Lucy and I ran to scouts while Eric and Mo were on dog duty for Eric's parents dog. There house is so not Lucy friendly! Neither though is the school cafeteria and it's disgusting floor.  Came home, got all the girls to bed and I threw together a bag. Don't :faint: Elizabeth!! I am signing off and heading to my parents. We are going to get on the road pretty early. I will have WiFi at the hotel but I can't guarantee I'll get a chance to check in. Have a great weekend.

Jennifer- I hope you and Virginia can kick the sickies fast. :wizard:

Bernadette- Lots of :wizard: for Emma to find her place at school. And some :wizard: and 's for you.

Elizabeth- :wizard: for you and DH to survive tomorrow. I hope the school stuff with DS works itself out and that he doesn't get into too much trouble. I am so at a loss for the right words, I think it's because I am freezing and my brain seems to have stopped working.

Good night

Bernadette - DS understands that the behavior is a problem, but I don't know if he has enough backbone to resist slipping back into that behavior. He has been immature and silly his whole life. How I am supposed to make him mature overnight? He doesn't want to be in trouble, but if his friends are all being silly then he is going to do it, too. I can call the diagnostician and see if she has any suggestions but there really isn't a cure for immaturity. :confused3
I hope Emma is able to find a buddy soon! Mr. Poor Impulse Control might not know why he hit her. With kids that age they don't always have (or need) a reason. He probably hit her because he could reach her. That doesn't excuse his behavior, but it might explain why he doesn't have a reason. He literally doesn't have a reason. He just hit her. She was there, he hit her, that's his whole story. I'm sorry he hit her, though. That wasn't nice. :guilty:

Hi Wendy. I don't design, so I'm no help to you. Are are several other threads in the Creative Designs forum. I hope you can find what you are looking for.

Elizabeth - sorry, I don't have any advice for you and DS. But I'll check back with you in a few years to find out how you handled it, when Nicholas starts to go through that stage.

Bernadette - Maybe you shouldn't be so concerned quite yet. It sounds like Emma isn't. :wizard: that she finds someone to pal around with.

Chanon - I've never done magnets so I can't advise you. Is the rehearsal dinner tomorrow night? How was Mom today?

I'm watching the debate. She's holding her own.
