Fellow DVC members...if I wanted to pay cash for a cruise, could I get a discount as a DVC member?

We as DVC Members are not given any kind of discount for Disney Cruises but on the other hand they are having a Member Cruise for DVC Members! It's this October but unfortunately it's booked but I'm sure if you call MS that you could be put on a waiting list.

No, but you frequently can usually get a credit with the Disney Credit Card and free drink plan if booked through AAA.

Free soda, coffee, tea, water, ice tea, fruit punch, orange juice, and milk is available to every one so what kind of extra drinks is AAA getting you?

There is usually a shipboard credit if you pay with Disney Visa but no DVC discount or AP discount that I heard of

Shop it around I used cruise value center for an August 06, 7 day cruise, two outside rooms for 7 people and $100 credit per room for $6800 other travel agents wanted $7200 and Disney was charging $8200 for the same accomodations so shop it around

I remember I looked very seriously at the member cruise and could not figure out why it cost more than a regular cruise. That really puzzled me quite a bit. No one could seem to tell me why the member cruise was priced higher.

If you shop around you can find a good deal. My interest was piqued by the member cruise, and I had trouble getting through.

I finally decided to just book a regular DCL cruise and got a few quotes agents, and went through the sponsor of the cruise forum because they had the best deal. It is for December '06, 4 night, 2 cabins cat 11, 1 double and one single for a total of a tad over $1700 for the two cabins 3 people, including the transfers from MCO to the port and to WDW afterwards.

You will find that some TAs have group blocks and rates and so you can get a very good deal.

This is not totally accurate. Free soda is available for meals however, you must pay for soda outside of meals. It works much like the WDW mug plan including a free MUG except you don't have to have your mug. Many other cruises don't even give you soda for meals unless you pay extra or have their soda plan. I forget the charge for DCL for the soda plan, but it's not cheap.

Didn't someone say at one of the meetings that they may give us special offers like a reduction in points etc on future cruises?

I agree on cruisevalue.com. We used them - everything was straightforward, and disney still sent us all our documents. Plus we were still able to log into the disney website and prebook excursions etc.

The cruiseline is the only think i would consider renting my points out - it is just too many points to use for the cruise if booking thru dvc, for me anyway.

In Aug of 04 and 05 soda was free for all but that could have changed because in 02 the washers and dryers were free to all and they changed that

We booked out DCL for June 2007 back in December 2005. The earlier that you book the cheaper the cost. Also we used a travel agent that specializes in Disney vactions. There are several Disney travel agents that offer Cash rebates of $50 - $200 after you complete your cruise so buy early and shop around.

You might want to let Disney know this because the DCL website still has on it "Free sodas are available at the beverage station on Deck 9" it is under FAQ What do I have to pay for at Bars and Lounges

Looks like may have changed it since our list cruise with them about a year and a half ago. I though it was strange that they were free for meals but not otherwise, thanks for the information. The W/D were free then as well.

I dont think it was complaining that did it because there are few that don't complain about the high price disney and they dont seem to want to give that away

Probably has more to due to the fact that soda is cheap and it is one more thing that distinguishes DCL from the others

Also it is only one deck 9 and the line can get long so if you are not within two floors of it and at the back of the ship you will probably just buy a soda at the bar anyway
