DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

You guys should all email DCL and tell them you got tired of waiting and booked with another cruise line. They have to realize that by waiting to see their prices people are missing out on opening day prices on other cruise lines.
I have been tweeting DCL on a regular basis as well. Of course, no response from them.

Just in case they're reading, here's another ship jumper. Just booked a 2017 Europe cruise on another line. No guarantees that Disney was going to do that route on those dates, but I'm ready to move on with my planning.
What ship? Where are you going?

Loved our EC Fantasy cruise last summer and wanted to do DCL Alaska in 2017. Getting tired of waiting and started to look at other cruise lines for fun as I enjoy planning vacations.
Princess and Celebrity now really have me interested and started researching them a lot. If Disney put their prices and itineraries up earlier I would have booked and not started researching other lines that now really have my interest.

We have a family of 5 and I called RCL this morning as they are having a BOGO sale. I got a quote for 2 connecting balcony rooms for $5,700 on the Oasis out of port canaveral. Does that seem like a good deal? Free gratuities as well! (I am not-so-patiently waiting for DCL release)
We booked the last cruise available on the fantasy may 2017 with OBB two inside rooms-- over $10000. We do not plan on keeping it and have already booked cruises with other lines for next two years.

I just noticed on the GT thread. There are GT and mto discounts on the Fantasy until the end of June. Maybe the delay on releasing next year is because their are still trying to sell this year???

That was suggested that if they waited after selling the 2016 cruises they would not have the price comparison between years.
It was also suggested the objective was to prevent people booked for this summer to jump to a new cruise in 2017.

Maybe they are just late. With everything in Europe maybe it was harder than usual to come up with good itineraries.

Other cruise lines seem to be having no trouble coming up with good itinerarys. Why would it be hard for Disney?

I really think they are having some kind of crisis and are not sure how to price etc. The sailing we were on in march was empty. Really empty. Never seen a cruise like that before. It was kind of off season but it was weird.
Good, maybe they will realize going only for the money and taking away the magic (stricter alcohol carryons, signatures, etc) is taking away what makes people love Disney and why they are willing to pay more for it.

Excellent point!

We sailed on Princess when we did Alaska and we loved it!!!!! We were on the Sapphire Princess and it was the best food we have had on any cruise before or after. The chef told us that they just buy enough food to get to Alaska and then they buy all of their seafood fresh. Glacier Bay National Park is amazing and you won't get to see it if you go on Disney.

How are the kids clubs? I'm very interested in booking an Alaska trip and I've heard great things about Celebrity and Princess.

The clubs are more restricted age-wise, so my kids were each in their own club. My daughter liked all of the attention she got from the counselors. They all knew her by name. They do a lot of crafts and activities where the counselors are actively doing something with the kids. My older son liked that his younger sister was not in the same club LOL! Older kids also had scheduled activities, but I think they also had more free time with the computers.

Princess in having a good sale on Alaska cruises this Summer. 3rd and 4th passengers only pay 249.00. I priced out a few cruises end of August early Sept was around 3k for 4 in a balcony. Prices are higher next Summer.

I agree......I booked it! The balcony room for a family of 5 was only a few hundred dollars less than getting 2 balconies (connected on deck 11)...but you only get free gratuities for the first 2 guests, so by booking 2 rooms, we have 100 more sq feet, double the balcony space, and only have to pay for 1 person's gratuity. This is for an Eastern Caribbean going to San Juan the first week of November 2017
That's funny...I am looking at that cruise for that week....I'm getting jittery about it...I am looking at Harmony though...2700 for two ocean balcony or 2300 ocean view....and as you said, free grats...I'm very tempted to just book.

Booked the Vision of the Seas for July 2017 while sailing the Freedom of the Seas for our March Break. Taking us to Northern Europe including 2 nights in St. Petersburg, Russia. Very excited as it is for our 25th anniversary. Thought I'd check here to see if it was worth it to change back to DCL, but they're proving once again that it's not worth it to wait.
Very disappointed with the 'customer service' of DCL. They could at least have something more up by now!

Maybe they're shifting away from cruising?

The current itineraries are only a year out. DCL has to know that planning ahead of time is important. Maybe there is a reason or some regulation where they can't announce future itineraries that far in advance? :rolleyes1

@Tower they are building two new ships so no way is Disney backing away from cruising. Still, it's puzzling what could be keeping them from releasing more dates.
