DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

The current itineraries are only a year out. DCL has to know that planning ahead of time is important. Maybe there is a reason or some regulation where they can't announce future itineraries that far in advance? :rolleyes1
I doubt it. Many other cruise lines offer itineraries up to to 2 years out. And DCL did also, at one time. We booked our first DCL cruise 15 months out, and our second 23 months out.

Booked the Vision of the Seas for July 2017 while sailing the Freedom of the Seas for our March Break. Taking us to Northern Europe including 2 nights in St. Petersburg, Russia. Very excited as it is for our 25th anniversary. Thought I'd check here to see if it was worth it to change back to DCL, but they're proving once again that it's not worth it to wait.
Very disappointed with the 'customer service' of DCL. They could at least have something more up by now!

Maybe they're shifting away from cruising?
Royal has some very nice 12 night Baltic cruises. I'm in no hurry to book anything though. I've got a big cruise coming up, I just put a deposit on the Vista in Dec, and....OMG taxes. I can't swing another deposit right now. I am curious to see the Baltic cruise prices on DCL though.

Received an email from my TA today saying they anticipate the release any day now. I might be reading into things, but I felt there was some wording that led me believe that my TA thinks DCL will release all of 2017 at once, which would make up for this delay for me. But honestly, I would be shocked.

But I'm also only on the fence for a short California Coast cruise in 2017; I'm really waiting for 2018 sail dates. :)

Please share what you did in San Juan. The Carnival cruise I just booked for 2017 (notice a theme here?) stops there, but it's one of the late stops 3-11 PM. With a young child (4) I'm not sure exactly what to do there if we won't be going to the beach...

We did a combination of the free trolley bus to the first fort and then the little like road train (also free) to the other fort. All I would say is both were extremely busy and we had to wait for them. We then walked back from the second fort to the town stopping for a drink along the way. The forts are nice and reasonably priced (you can get a ticket to both forts at either). There are some shops around as well (typical caribbean ones mainly). You might have more luck with the shuttle in the afternoon as we went at lunch time.

Other cruise lines have managed it. I think they are just trying to maximize this years sales personally.

Interesting. I kind of hope they don't as I feel bad for all the TA's having to sort things out for such a long time period but at least the TA's seem to be thinking something is happening soon.

What business sense could this make???

My emotions have turned from excitement, into anxiousness, and finally into irritation.

I guess they know no matter what, we'll be watching with our cc's ready.

Royal Caribbean has two "Ultimate" Baltic cruises on Serenade of the Seas in 2017 (11 nights and 13 nights), and both spend 3 says in St. Petersburg, Russia. One starts in Copenhagen and ends in Stockholm, and the other does the reverse.

My TA also seems to think the release will be for the entire rest of 2017 through December . She asked for anyone thinking of booking for that time period to give her a heads up so she can be prepared to send us the info asap when she gets it.

Hopefully your TA is right!

That would help explain the delay. Rather than doing it in 2 releases as in the past (March for the summer itins and May for the rest of year) maybe they're going to go halfway in between and release it all mid-April. Mazatlan was leaked as a fall port already so the schedules past the summer are already coming together.

That would be nice for everyone who hasn't already been burned out waiting!
Hopefully there will be some new/different/interesting itineraries whenever they are announced.

Kind of screws over people wanting to book the WBPC though, at just 12mo out and trying to get 2+ weeks off of work.

I agree. Two weeks is a tough one where I work and they like a lot of warning. If they open them with less than a 12-month notice, I wouldn't be able to swing it.
