DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

Well, I think I just answered my own question..just did a search for first week of November 2016 and balcony cabins start at 4253...so not even close to the RC prices. Ugh! That is way too much for a non holiday week for just 2.

Were you looking at opening day prices? I though they were closer to $3,600ish.

We have been talking about a summer '17 cruise in Europe (out of Barcelona). Do I just book quickly via Disney Cruise site, 2-book through a TA (we are talking about flying into London, taking the train to Paris and then head to Spain for the cruise) or 3-book cruise through a Disney TA and then have a different TA handle the rest of the trip? Ack!! Too many choices. I want the best price but I also like knowing I have someone to help us out if needed (like on our Disney Caribbean cruise when we couldn't get on the tender boats to Grand Cayman and had a day room booked at the Marriott).

To be honest, all the unrest in Europe has us concerned. We really want to take our children a very special vacation (we did Oahu and Maui in '14) before they head off to college. I fear change and love all things Disney and Disney related so honestly would be most comfortable traveling with Disney.

And all this waiting stinks!! I was constantly checking online and in doing so also booked a 4 day cruise right after Thanksgiving.

I'm actually booked on two sailings of the Vista myself, for Christmas break and one in June of 2017.

Question. I am also looking to book a trip for the first week of Nov. 2017- I'm debating between the new RC Harmony or the Disney Fantasy. I can get a balcony cabin on the RC for two for 2800 plus some good perks such as free grats and a $190 OBC.

Do you think Fantasy can compete with that price...being that it's not during "prime time"?

This question is not just meant for you Ofinn...as I just wanted to comment on the Vista...but anyone who know about Fantasy pricing, please advise...

I always price out rooms for four. Im not sure if that's a good price for 2 or not. Carnival hardly charges anything for the 3rd and 4th passenger. I think Royal and NCL are the same. In our case the other cruiselines are usually half the price of DCL or less.

Hmmm...I'm not so sure about that. I've been doing this for awhile and they've offered them as far back as I can remember. In fact, here's a thread from this board from 2012 where people are discussing booking Interline rates on DCL even earlier than 2012! http://www.disboards.com/threads/interline-rates-and-castaway-club.2984187/

I've cruise 12 times in the last four 1/2 years. It's funny that thread you brought up was the first time I booked an interline rate. It was the first time they offered them on the Dream. I guess after being on the ships so often in the last 4 years I just see things differently. We haven't always gotten the interline rate some of our cruises have been with GT rates. I've definitely noticed an increase in discounts over the last 4 years. I've been on sailings that were at least 1/3 cast members and travel agents. I've talked to travel agents that have told me they have had a hard time selling DCL cruises due to price. Even the Capt of the Wonder asked me on our last cruise if price was a factor in which cruises I chose....I thought that was kind of a weird question.
I'm not of the belief that Disney can just charge whatever they want and people are going to keep filling the ships. The economy is not that great and it's even worse in Europe. I've noticed a definite change onboard the ships, and a definite change on these boards. Three years ago people were defending Disney's prices. Now it's the opposite lots of diser's many who are platinum are jumping ship. There are still few diehards on here that will defend DCL at all costs. Some people say that for everyone that leaves there's someone to take there place. That may be true in the short term, but it's too early to tell how that's going to work out in the long run. It take's a lot of money to get to platinum. How many people taking their first cruise in 2016 are going to be able to accomplish that at these prices?

The interline rates are great, but I would much rather book 6 months or so ahead. I still don't know if my dh is going to get to go with us on the Iceland cruise. The discounts have been plentiful, but trying to make things work out at the last minute is getting old.

I could not agree more. Last year we went to Japan and had a wonderful 16 days trip - Eco premium flights, very nice hotels, bullet train and restaurants. I did cost less than a 12 night cruise in the Med. From far.
I could be interesting in new cruises but at that price I'd rather travel the world.

Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian also sail from Port Canaveral. Other Florida cruise ports are Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Tampa.

I'm going to throw it out there - do they usually release on a Monday and then sales open Tuesday? I thought this was what happened last few years in which case the fact it hasn't would mean it wont til Monday right or have I imagined this (very possible lol)

This ship has sold very well. Its slim pickings for rooms on most of the sailings.

I looked into the Vista for next January or February and a lot of the cabins I want are already sold out. I will have to keep an eye on that ship.

And sometimes in the past, Disney has posted a "preview" of sorts on their website the day before it is announced that pricing is opening. Sometimes it's only for the European itineraries, but I've been keeping an eye on their site, but nothing (of course).

Disney have priced us out already, but I'm still waiting With the loss on the Canadian dollar and the prices as they are, and a DD12 who likes pools and other tween things, I don't see us cruising again unless we can swing a GT rate again, but even what we paid for a GT was crazy compared to what we could get on RCL or NCL...want to see what happens with Panama and Hawaii though...
