I'm the person who had already made a reservation on that date before they announced it was a
DVC only cruise. I had my TA call twice after that announcement and make sure we were still good to go.
Yesterday PM I got a phone call from DVC about the cruise - but it was too late to return their call by the time I heard it. I called
DCL to make sure we were still OK there.
This morning at about 8:30 (9:30 Eastern) DVC called back again and sure enough, we were going to get bumped from the cruise THIS LATE! I was nearly speechless, but luckily NOT (LOL). I explained to Anthony how I had our TA check twice and how I had reconfirmed just last night, and I really could not believe they were waiting until now to let me know.
Our conversation began that they could not transfer our current reservation and I would have to cancel it and rebook. By the time we finished, however, and Anthony knew of my displeasure and of the attempts on my side to make sure everything WAS still OK, he was able to (mysteriously) transfer my reservation. I definitely have to give Disney credit for that, although I am still baffled that they waited until the last minute to attempt to clear this up. The communication between DCL and DVC seems to have been lacking. (I'll be writing to them re that, but of course also stressing that I feel they resolved things satisfactorily in the end, but put me through some unneeded stress in the meantime.)
I think if I hadn't made so many attempts to verify, though, things wouldn't have turned out so well.
