DCL Make a decision please!

We had the Vancouver to Hawaii (April 2020) itinerary booked. That remains a bucket list cruise for us. Use the $$ for that to book a Panama Canal cruise later in 2020. Nope. Moved that to an Eastern Caribbean 7 night coming in December. That has to be safe.... right??!! Agree completely with what all the previous posts are saying. DCL needs to communicate a little better (more). :)

The issue there at this point is that making it to Seattle for the season is dubious right now. They have to crew the Wonder, quarantine each incoming crew member for 7 days with testing, get them vaccinated, and have the vax waiting period burn (2 weeks after last shot). Even with J&J that is 21 days lead once they have crew on board, which has not yet happened. Added pain point is they cannot bring in past crew from India and a couple.other countries, hard stop travel ban.

While part of the burn time can be used to deadhead the canal, they will also need to test to tie up in Seattle, and they have to have some wiggle room there. So you are looking at needing 28 days plus getting crew on to be able to sail, and it is already June 3. If we do not see a lot of action around crewing the Wonder pretty quick, it most likely means West Coast season is a goner.
Yep - as much as I would love to see it happen, the math is not working out (unless they have more crew on board than we know - do we know?)

I mean, we don't, but they have not been embarking crew and we would probably know that. Other ships seeing vaccination have been pretty public.

Too short a season and too.much cash on PC transit. Kinda a matter of losing less money by being idle, especially if they are staffing Magic, Dream and maybe also Fantasy, with issues bringing in CMs from a number of countries traditionally shipping in a lot of crew.

Does anyone think the Wonder will sail from the West coast this fall?

Personally I still think it will. The choice is either leave it completely empty and loose revenue or try and salvage the small amount of money they can by running the cruises already booked (assuming they don't decide to offer completely different itineraries). They currently have a guaranteed income from those cruises already booked. The likelihood is they have to run at reduced capacity anyway and some of those have even sold out. Paying for a ship to just sit in the ocean / port for months and months like they have been costs money too and therefore I don't see why they wouldn't at least try to get some cash from it. Some staff have started being called back to the Dream to do the early July test cruises. Therefore I really wouldn't be surprised if the other ships start seeing similar for end of July/August sailings. Now whether then it makes sense to go to Alaska for just 1 or 2 sailings I don't know but I think they will try and get the west coast cruises in at least.

I agree with those who have said there's not enough time to get the Wonder to the West Coast. That doesn't mean the ship will be sitting there for months and months empty. Once Disney can get it fully crewed and ready to go, the only thing preventing them from sailing cruises is a port agreement. They may decide it is more financially advantageous to leave it here, get it ready, and then do short three four and five day cruises from a port either in Florida, New Orleans, or Galveston.

There are plenty of people who would jump at the opportunity to book a last-minute short cruise on the Wonder.

Perhaps but as said currently they have X amount of guaranteed money compared to having to sell rooms in a very short space of time if they change itineraries around. Its what they weigh up as the best course of action and as you said would depend on port availability as well. With all cruise lines starting back up there may not be slots available to rearrange anything like this.

We are on the September 4th sailing on the Fantasy (PIF date is June 6) and we likely will not know until July. So frustrating.
Where can we meet? We too are on the 4th sailing. We are paid in full already and have made all our reservations, including port excursions. Fingers crossed. So, see you at Cabanas at 1:00!!!

In case people haven't spotted, the Wonder has been listed on Seattle ports from end of July onwards so I think they are looking at rescheduling through there.
This is interesting. If they did that, they would have to cancel the cruise and open up a new booking.

Would California even allow cruises in September or October? They've been pretty slow to reopen.

Is anyone in here on the August 2 Dream cruise? If so, did you have to pay in full yesterday with zero information from Disney on if you will sail and on what terms? I have some time before my pay in full date, but I don't think we will be doing so with zero information.

Disney is doing a CDC test sail for Dream, so any sailing is contingent on a certification from the CDC roughly 20 days subsequent to that test, or pending a second test to address deficiencies. Given test sail date and timelines, DCL doesn't know if 8/2 is going to sail, or on what terms.

Oh wow.... so you think no news until after? I understand no guarantees, but other cruise lines have put out what they at least plan to do upon approval. We may just have to jump ship on this one. I will just move my deposit to a Wish sailing for next summer and the other three families will likely cancel.
