DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

I would be very cautious about advising people to contact vaccination centres for left over dose in The UK. This may be what people do in the country you live in, but in The UK, this is not something that should be advised to do.

It may not be offered everywhere but it is offered in my area and I am in England. I also work in the NHS in a team that has set up a lot of test and vaccination centres. May not be applicable everywhere.

I agree, as a vaccinator, we had to contact the local radio station to ask them to tell people to stop coming down at the end of the day, all it does is cause problems for the marshalls and they get in the way. Our days are relentless, we just don't have time to deal with people hoping to get an early vaccine, we have places to call on if there are leftover doses.

I live in England and this morning I received a push txt from NHS to go to the Spur stadium today until 4pm to get my vaccination as a walk in appointment. So you never know ....

I'm Canadian so obviously don't qualify for these cruises but have been following along on this thread. One thing missing: teen and tween clubs. You have to book a time for the lab/oceaneers club but no mention of Vibe and Edge? How will this work given that there isn't always a schedule of events in these clubs?

I would guess that since they haven't been mentioned one of two things

1. they wont be open
or
2. they have the same reservation system as the lab / oceaneers club

Also as we have by all the new information, the Disney cruise experience will be very different to what it was, so we can't just assume that because there wasn't always a schedule of events for Vibe and Edge that when sailings resume it will still be the same.

Why are they requesting you wear a face mask in any public area. If all the guests and hopefully crew, will be fully vaccinated. Seem a little over kill to me

Becuase thats the UK Government Official Advice About Face Coverings

In England you must wear a face covering in the following indoor settings (examples are given in brackets):

  • public transport (aeroplanes, trains, trams and buses)
  • taxis and private hire vehicles
  • transport hubs (airports, rail and tram stations and terminals, maritime ports and terminals, bus and coach stations and terminals)
  • shops and supermarkets (places which offer goods or services for retail sale or hire)
  • shopping centres (malls and indoor markets)
  • auction houses
  • premises providing hospitality (bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes), except when seated at a table to eat or drink
  • post offices, banks, building societies, high-street solicitors and accountants, credit unions, short-term loan providers, savings clubs and money service businesses
  • estate and lettings agents
  • theatres
  • premises providing personal care and beauty treatments (hair salons, barbers, nail salons, massage centres, tattoo and piercing parlours)
  • premises providing veterinary services
  • visitor attractions and entertainment venues (museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, cultural and heritage sites, aquariums, indoor zoos and visitor farms, bingo halls, amusement arcades, adventure activity centres, indoor sports stadiums, funfairs, theme parks, casinos, skating rinks, bowling alleys, indoor play areas including soft-play areas)
  • libraries and public reading rooms
  • places of worship
  • funeral service providers (funeral homes, crematoria and burial ground chapels)
  • community centres, youth centres and social clubs
  • exhibition halls and conference centres
  • public areas in hotels and hostels
  • storage and distribution facilities
You are expected to wear a face covering before entering any of these settings and must keep it on until you leave unless there is a reasonable excuse for removing it.

You should also wear a face covering in indoor places not listed here where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.

I recall when these opened, I said definitely go for the 4 day. Now I changed my mind—if I were in the UK the only one I would consider is the 2 day. Only one dining room, only one show (not guaranteed) only 2.5 hrs for kids in clubs (at a reserved time, again subject to availability so it may be less), no guarantee of being able to use the pool, and reservations for every activity. No mention of spa either so likely closed. On a 4 night, I’d worry I would be spending a lot of time in my room reading a book between reserved activities (if I am lucky enough to get them) while the kids watch tv because there is nothing for them to do.

If crew and adults are all vaccinated this should be very low risk, these restrictions feel more like what we would see if cruises had resumed last summer. I’m so disappointed.

I agree completely. We are not in the UK, but have a cruise booked on a different line in August (that I expect will cancel). I have been following just to understand what restrictions MAY be in place so we know what to expect if it does sail. Limited, reservations only kids club and reservations for everything does not sound relaxing to us at all. I think we’ll stick to land-based vacations for a bit!

These restrictions on Disney Cruise Line are in line with current land based restrictions in The UK and the rest of Europe. I guess for those who live in countries where the restrictions are not as severe, it comes as a shock. But for UK people there is no big shock as these restrictions are what day to day life is like.

This is the bit I don’t think it’s very clear on... whether or not there’s still rotational dining, as one place it says you have the same table, elsewhere it does specify that if you’re on a 2
nighter, you won’t get to experience all the restaurants... so that makes me think you do rotate...

no guarantee of being able to use the pool

Given the dates I think pool use isn't guaranteed anyway. Average high in Liverpool in July is 68° F, and at sea it'll be cooler. Southampton in August is a little better but not all that much warmer. London in September/October isn't noted as beach party temps either.

These are in line with what we experience day to day too; however, at home we have a much bigger space than a stateroom, the kids have their toys, and there’s plentiful outdoor space (parks etc.) and are not confined to a ship’s limited spaces. I would not want to use limited vacation time and pay a high price to be stuck in a stateroom much of the time with bored kids.

For those that this works for, great! I’ll keep following to see how these go - it is exciting to see progress towards cruising.

Again your assumptions are different due to not being from UK / Ireland. 20 c / 68f temperature is beach weather to us and considering the very harsh restrictions that we are just coming out of, the UK people on these cruises will be using the pools, despite what you may perceive as not being beach temperatures. It may not be what you are used to but its what we are used to.

I can understand how disappointing it must be for those who won’t have had the vaccine by then. Probably not Disney’s intention because they just have to follow what they’re told but I wonder if the intention of the government is to prioritise key workers.

20c is heatwave weather pretty much here in Yorkshire . My kids will go paddling in freezing cold English sea year round 🤣

We are fortunate as both myself and Mrs Scouser had our first jabs 10 weeks ago. We have a DS (13) with aspergers / autism who cant wear a mask (can just about manage neck covering), so will need to speak to the special needs helpline.

It will not be a "full on" disney cruise experience and we are looking at it through that prism. Value for money ? - probably not, but assuming we can get some resolution idea on face covering for a SEN child, then we will still be looking to go.
