Does anyone remember how much the DCL Beach towels that I've seen on the commercials and the DCL video are on the ship? I assume they sell them.

We got ours on Castaway Cay and paid $20 each (bought 2)--I haven't seen the commercial or the video, but the towels we got are nice--I wouldn't have got them if they weren't!

The beach towels on the video have disney cruise line written on them I believe and are red, blue an gold. $20.00 does not sound too bad considering I spent over that on my Dixie Landings towel many years ago and I love it!
Thanks!

I LOVE the beach towels! I get one at every visit to WDW and on my past 2 cruises. They are qreat quality, and @20-22 dollars are a very good buy. Plus I love having a momento from each vacation that is practical!.

Relling Twin ... 'practical momento'... pretty much a contradiction in terms for Disney, isn't it? ;)

Sorry for the slam there, Disney, but 'yer souveniers are overpriced!! (Which doesn't mean that we don't have a HOUSEFUL of them, mind you!)

I remember seeing some great DCL beach towels, but they were $42.00.
If I remember the ones you guys are talking about, they were in fact $20.00
but they were pretty small, and they had thin threading. Not altogether bad, but no great deal at 20 bucks. The big, plush towels were $42... Ya git what ya pay for, I guess.

'Beano'

There is a blue towel that is only sold (or at least that was what I was told) at Castaway Cay. It had a checkboard in the middle and sold for $35. I didn't buy it on my first cruise, but when we went for our second cruise last year, we stopped at the Disney Outlets at Belz and bought the towel for $9.99. The only thing wrong with it was the checkers were missing. It was a great deal! You may want to check out the two outlets in Orlando before the cruise. We got there at 10am and shopped for a while, then drove to Cape Canaveral. We got to the port around noon! :p

micKIM mouse - I'd love to know where the two outlets are in Orlando!. Where is Belz?

micKIM mouse, when did you find a Disney outlet store at Belz in Orlando? Belz' web site (www.belz.com) doesn't list a Disney store. And Disney's web site only lists Disney outlet stores in...

On a recent trip to New York City I went into the Disney Store on 5thAve. They had beach towels 50% off (MAGIC WORDS)
I bought DD a Tinkerbell and DS Buz Lightyear for $10.00 each.

The one we bought on the ship was very nice. I sure hope I didn't pay $40.00 for it because DS lost it this summer :(

BeanoC, I guess I should have said "fuctional momento" ! Towels are at least more fuctional then a set of Mickey Ears!LOL

These stores are actually called "The Character Warehouse" owned by Disney. They are located at the North end of 'International Drive' prior to the Bee Line Expressway. It dead-ends before the BeeLine. You can see the toll booths from the last mall building. There is actually 2 of these stores in 2 different buildings of the mall. They carry a lot of nice things. They may be overstocked, last years styles, etc. You can usually find a lot of really nice Disney merchandise there marked down quite a bit. We go to this store every trip we make to Disney. We usually hit this store BEFORE buying Disney souvenirs at Disney.

:bounce:

These outlets are definately a must for every Disney trip. They are owned by Disney (although they don't advertise it) and most years at Christmas they have a third temporary store in the same outlet complex with strictly Christmas merchandise. I've often found items that I wanted in the parks for 50% off in the outlets.

Anyone know of Disney outlet stores you can shop on-line? We can't to those places you metnioned, and I refuse to pay Disney prices. Any thought?:smooth:

These particular Disney stores you would not be able to purchase form online I'm pretty sure. They are different from the Disney Stores and from the Disney Catalogue Outlet Stores such as Dave mentioned above.

They are a great find though! I once purchased (several for gifts) red plaid flannel Winnie the Pooh christmas nightshirts for $5.98. They were beautiful and my friends all loved them. That was just one of my finds. We've done a lot of shopping there over the years.

Hope everyone can make there on their next trip!

FYI
There is also a Disney Outlet Store at the Premier Outlet Mall.
Usually go there for the souvenirs for back home. Word of warning,
if you see something you like, buy it and don't wait 'cause chances are
it will not be there when you go back.
