My daughter and I are planning to go to Discovery Cove in 01/08. I'm as blind as a bat without my glasses! Should I look into buying a prescription mask before I go or would swim goggles be better? If I get either, I guess I'm pretty much stuck wearing them around all day - or - are the lockers accessible enough that I could swap for my regular glasses during lunch, etc?

True story that they have wetsuits and/or vests to accommodate large people? In January, which would be better, temperature-wise?

Any idea when the January 2008 calendar will be up on DC's website for reservations? We are going to DW, too, and doing the 1/2 Marathon (walking) on 1/12. Need to figure out when to add in DC.

I'm SO excited about this!! Thanks for your help!

Prescription goggles are available. I was last there in 2005 and if I remember correctly, we had to leave a deposit or at least a credit card#.

They do have wetsuits to accomodate all sizes (I was an 18 at the time) although I opted for the vest.

The fresh water pool was quite cool as is the water for the dolphin swim. You can get a suit and if you want to change it for a vest, they'll allow you to do so. The staff is extremely helpful.

You should be able to call customer service and book for January.

I'll be visiting again this summer :cheer2: and I'll be sure to post when I return.

Although they have prescription goggles they are only for long or short sight, they do not have any suitable for astigmatism as I found in Feb.

Your glasses will be quite safe left on your lounger while you wear the goggles as will the goggles when you have your glasses on. Having said that the lockers are very accessible.

I do have astigmatism, so I'm wondering if I should just plan to purchase my own goggles. I want to be able to see clearly at DC! Would you suggest regular swim goggles or an actual diving mask? We plan to do the dolphin swim, snorkel, etc. I've never used either of these type of eyewear so am pretty clueless. Thanks!

Both DH and I need prescription masks (I have an astimatism) when we snorkel. We bought them at Snorkel Bob's online and had them shipped. They are fabulous!!

Website is as follows:

DH has astigmatism and used their goggles. he seemed happy. We went in 2004 and didn't have to put any deposit to use them but I can see why they would require this.
