DC Magic has started to evaporate my joy in VMK

Oh dear! I never thought I would be anything but happy to log on to VMK, but yesterday and today have made me rethink that.

My DC times have been between 10 and 20 minutes. I've cleared cookies and done everything I know of, so I don't think it's my computer. I don't have time to talk with friends before a game of fireworks or HM and still get all the way through the game. I can't play 3 pirate games in a row, and it usually takes more than that for me to get my rhythm.

VMK has just lost a huge chunk of the magic for me ,when I can't stay connected for more than 20 min. Yes, yes, you can refresh and try to plan for it, but the time goes so fast when you are talking with friends, or playing the games, and especially when you are trying to build rooms, that I often am just plain booted before I remember to hit F5.

Okay, sorry for the rant. It's just that if VMK started out this way, I would never have gotten this far, I probably would have checked out long ago.I used to be able to be on VMK for an hour or more at a time. When I first started playing, I don't ever recall getting disconnected. I still heart all my DIS VMK friends, but I'm greatful that I got to know most of you before the shortened DC times, because it sure makes it more difficult to make friends now.

Hope I get to at least 'wave' to you all next time I'm in VMK!

My playing time in between DC is at least 1 hour maybe 2

WOW! That's great!
Maybe it is just my computer. I just can't figure out what to try besides clearing all the cookies, which I've done.

My DC time has also been about 20 minutes. I used to be on for about 45 minutes before DC. I don't think it's the computer. I had thought that it was the timer on VMK, but if other people can be on VMK longer, I guess it's not that.

I get about 17 minutes before I have to log back in. Makes it lots of fun... "Will I get this game of ghosts in or not?? "

I agree at least partialy with your sentiment on the DC issue. I used to think people were nuts refreshing because I would always just crashout in the mansion (dc being diferent from a crash) I find in the morning (which being from England would be more likely lightnings play time) the dc can be as much as 2 hours if they don't have a quest or event. But on a regular basis I have come to understand no one excapes the dc and it is fairly consistant to all players reguardless of their computer.

In the past I did not believe the time was set by VMK, But others have reported being told this by staff and I have since noticed that we all drop in approximately the same time frame. If they are running a quest they seem to drop the time frame to a fasted dc seems related to attendance (peek times) Not to doubt Lightning or anyone else claiming no dc or long dc times but I think is more of a fluke when you don't DC.

here is an idea how about VMK staff makes more game rooms more worlds more instances so we dont crash as much

Actually....I think that the people who work for VMK -- They decide when you dc or not...At least that's what I think ;).

Mine is 20-30 minutes on average. I couldn't get through the birthday quest yesterday for that reason. :-( I can't get into VMK from work, so I don't get on until later in the afternoon/early evening. I made it through to the fireworks game and continuously got the DC message. The last time, I was at 114,000 points and about to start a new stage. By that point, there were kids needing to get put to bed, lunches to make, etc. It gets very frustrating.

It took me five hours to do the birthday quest yesterday! Not only am I crashing every 20 minutes, but then it takes almost an hour to get back in the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure miss the times when I could hit F5 and get right back into the game...........

I think that everytime VMK adds something to the game the file gets bigger and my computer can not handle it, but then again I am on dial-up.....

I am waving from here in case I don't make it into the game.... :scratchin

I have had wicked short dc's today... 10-20 mintues over and over... ugh

This might help a little, before I play a game or enter a new room I look at how long I have been on and I refresh my connection. That is a pain but helps not to dc in the middle of something.

:grouphug: I share your disappointment with the more frequent disconnets. I am still at the 25 - 30 minute disconnet point. Can't imagine every 10 minutes :sad2:

But if all you can have time for is a wave that is okay. :wave2:

Sorry I couldn't wait for you to log back on last night but this old body needs at least 6 hours sleep in order to function at work. Hope you got my VMK message.

Hi Califgirl!
Waving now before I DC........hahaha
I'm with you on this rant! I finally got a few hours yesterday to work on my room and dc with in 20 min all morning! I'd place and item in my room and poof, DC....talk to somebody poof DC.....shopping and poof DC. I spent more time trying to see if the purchase had gone thru, or the item placed correctly.
Is it any better today for anybody? Hopefully its temporary.

Miss you! Take care

This morning everytime I logged in 2 itmes and dc. After the 3rd time I was not able to see what I was typing or see anything. Then I got a box that would not go away even in fireworks. I hope they figure out a way so we dont dc so fast.

Argh, what I hate is how the dc's always seem to fall at the worst times for me- right at the end of games with good scores, right at the front of lines to get into rooms, right at the times when you'll be the most angry you could possibly be about a dc. *shakes head* It sure does seems sometimes like there's some cruel staff member there hitting the dc button for a good laugh at our expense.

Today I have been dc EVERY 30 minutes on the 8's.... ON THE 8's every time!!!

I've been getting dc a lot lately too. Maybe If I'm lucky I'll get around 45 minutes. Ladt night my computer was very good though when I was waiting/playing Falling Chairs to get magic. I lasted maybe 1 1/2 hours I was impressed.. I didn't win Falling Chairs though. Ah, but thats ok :thumbsup2

yeah, i think dc is an issue as well, especially during quests when you have do redo a high score on fireworks because of it, it can be frustrating, but i am sure disney are doing what they can to alleviate the problem or add server capacity

For the life of me this is something that I cannot understand why VMK does not address. It is now 10:15 and I've dc from vmk twice already! I constantly dc during games and refreshing doesn't really seem to make much of a difference anymore. In fact I think its pretty sad that we even have to refresh on our own. Seems to me that VMK has now trained us to dc ourselves! My opinion is that a player should never dc while "active". I define active as playing a game, trading, waiting in a queue. If you want to dc me when I'm just sitting in a room, even if I'm talking, I can deal with that but not when I'm trying to accomplish something. Also.. if there were some kind of guidelines to go by I'm sure that players would not be near as upset.

Here's an example: When you go to a disney park they have something posted as you are entering as to what rides are not operating that day. You can even get info way ahead of time before you even go on the refurb schedule. That way when you go to the park, you know what to expect and while you might be disappointed at least you had fair warning. I've worked in Customer Relations jobs several times and I've always found that customers are so much easier to deal with when they are told the truth about what to expect.

Now I can hear the vmk argument now.. "We dont't know when the dc will happen, its random" If thats the case it sounds like a bug to me and it needs to be fixed! There is just nothing fun about seeing that window pop up during your best game of fireworks ever, or in the third round of mansion when you're playing one on one and the other person vanishes. :badpc:

Please, please vmk creators/techies.. fix this problem! It really is ruining the magic of the game and I know that is the last thing you want to happen. There has been such great care taken to recreate actual disney park magic here, step it up and don't let the technical bugs ruin it all.
