Day 4:
Because today was Sunday, and although we were at WDW, we decided we needed to go to church, especially after the previous night in England and the ESPN club, so we headed to DD to the House of Blues for the Sunday Gospel Brunch. We were running late, and got some serious pixie dust sprinkled on us by the staff at the golf course at the marina in SSR - one of the golf course managers drove us over to DD so we wouldn't be late waiting on the boat! What a nice guy!!
The Gospel Brunch was great!! They have a huge buffet filled with Southern food, an omelette station, a station with Steamship round roast beef, and something I don't see at our church - a full bar...hahaha..
You will probably want to have a drink if you go, because let me tell you, white people can't dance to gospel music and it can be painfully embarassing at times to witness!! :rotfl2: But, don't get me wrong, the music and the performers were a lot of fun and the preacher was incredibly cool! He wore snakeskin boots, played a mean electric guitar, and somehow converted the songs of Rick James, Little Richard, and James Brown into hymns - it was a powerful thing! :cool1:
After the show, (I mean after church), we did some shopping at the HOB store - my favorite in the entire World!! Then we headed over across the street to Disney Quest. My very favorite thing about DisneyQuest is that once you are in, the games all are free!! Grumpy and I did the old 80's games - he was the "Defender" champ back in the day, and I love Galaga... and the 80's... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
We also liked the POTC virtual ride and the jumgle cruise virtual ride - (note: rowing does not affect your journey!! - I did not know this until Grumpy almost fell out of the boat laughing at me for rowing so hard!)
Grumpy almost died from sheer excitement once he discovered that there was free internet access on the 4th floor - along with a Cheesecake Factory Express!! And, some super-comfortable humongous chairs to recline and relax in semi-privacy while savoring chocate cheesecake, coffee, and did I say free internet access? (Note: the computers only allow you 20 minutes access at a time, before timing out).
After a few hours, we decided to walk back to the DD Marketplace and do some shopping. Grumpy stopped at the magic store and got a card trick - pretty cool, and then he bought me a "Pooh" to sleep with. OK, listen, I know I am too old, but hey, who cares? I like the way he snuggles perfectly under my arm at night. Everybody needs someone to love...
We headed back to our room and started getting dressed for our dinner at Flying Fish. One of our friends was meeting us there. We decided to take a cab and boy, did we wind up with a "winner" for a driver . He decided to tell us stories about previous guests in his cab that tried to "seduce" him, and all about the wild exploits that went on in the back of the cab as drove through the streets of Disney. :confused3 I may have believed him if we were in Vegas, but Disney??
So anyway, after a slightly uncomfortable 20 minutes, we arrive at the Boardwalk, and I just loved the whole 1930's New Jersey shore atmosphere- there was a juggler on the Boardwalk that was excellent, and all kinds of shops and little kiosks open. We met our friend, and headed for the Flying Fish restaurant. What a neat place - everywhere you look the decor is fabulous, and all the servers are professionals. We sat at the viewing counter, and the chef sent over a several appetizers - all 4 stars!! (the only thing I would mention, is that if you sit in front of where they cook, stay in front of the glass, otherwise the smoke from the wood-burning stove is bad)..
We had a great dinner, and met the first of three celebrities we saw on the trip - I don't know her real name, but she played the girls' coach in the "Porky's" movie back in the 1980's.
If you get a chance, try the restaurant - but go hungry - I was a little full still from brunch, so I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I should have...
Anyway, after dinner, we went back to SSR to get to bed early for our trip to MGM studios the next day...More to follow..

Sounds great! The Flying Fish is one of our favorites. Can't wait to hear who else you saw. :thumbsup2
