Cast of characters Me (Esmerelda51) and Mother 80 YEARS OLD

I freely admit that I am terrified to fly so an early morning flight seemed like a good idea. and 6:55 is not all that early is it? Well to make the airport 2 hours ahead makes it 5 AM and the bus to Denver leaves at 3:30 AM. This really does work out great because at that early hour I am still half asleep anyway so when I take the Ambien prescribed by my doctor I easily fall asleep the minute the plane takes off. As far as I know the flight was fine. DM tells me it was and the only problem was my snoring. I am even fine once we change planes in Atlanta and I do stay awake the whole way into Orlando. The Ambien works very well even when it doesn't put you to sleep because it does take the "edge" off. We made it into Orlando about 2PM and had Fl Tours meet us. This was a surprise to DM and she couldn't figure out why this guy had my name written on his sign. Baggage claimed and off we were to our first stop. Portofino Bay. When I had reserved the room originally I had requested a king smoking but changed to 2 queens and requested to keep the smoking but please request a balcony for me as my mother does not smoke. They had said they would do what they could. So we get there and check in. Room ready and the lady at the counter said what a great room I have for you!!! Was she every right! Room 3563. This was not just a balcony but a full size terrace over looking the lake. If you look up to the hotel just as the boat comes under the bridge it is on the top floor to your left before you get to the dock the one with the blue awnings. I can really recommend this room for people in the same circumstances. I did not mind but DM did have a bit of a problem with the beds being so high. Cost 179. per night Bay view with entertainment discount. Wine arrived soon after we got to room. Had a Loews Card.Very nice! Did not want to go out of the hotel for dinner Had a bit of a problem looking for a place to eat on a Sunday evening not a lot open early evening. Wandered around a bit looking and eventually got Pizza. Sat on my terrace and watched the boats go by Then watched some TV and went to sleep. Great end to a very long day.

I have been so hoping you'd post a trip report. I know this trip has been such a long time coming. I was nervous about you flying, but it sounds like you did great. I am looking forward to hearing about the great time you and your mom had. Look forward to the next installment.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Wow sounds like a great room....so you must of been in the west wing.....was it easy to get down to the boat dock.......thanks...amy

Yes I was in the West Wing. It was very easy to get to the dock just down the hall to the elevator down to ground level then just a few steps to the dock on the left. Really enjoyed the boat ride. For those who have never been, the boat ride was one of the many highlights of staying here. The route is completely landscaped and sooo restful. I can only assume that the busses are used only if it is raining very hard or it is extremely hot. The view coming back from the parks after you pass under the bridge and have the whole panorama of the hotel in front of you is priceless. Will definetly stay there again.
