Dawgs go to Disney - Hallobirthary 2010

Should we splurge and do MNSSHP?

  • YES! It is so fun even for college students and you'll get more time to do attractions!

  • No. It is overload for your DBF and the bank. You will only be there for a couple days, so relax.

Wow I did not realize they had that option! That sounds like a really good idea. I'll ask Morgan about it. Maybe we can do a late lunch and then snack around F&W for dinner! I don't know if he's willing to give up Mexican though! Hahaha:confused3

Do you know if they change their fixed lunch options throughout the year? Two out of three main courses (according to allears.net) have ham and I don't eat red meat. That lobster bisque sounds sooo good right now, too.

I just pulled Chefs for an example...I knew that pricing off the top of my head! :goodvibes I don't think they've changed it since a year ago when I went. I think they do lunch at just about every in-park restaurant, so you could probably do San Angel Inn for lunch too. I did Chefs last year on a short trip in August, it was great for lunch because it allowed us to have a break in the middle of the day without going back to the resort. I think the ADR was for 2pm?

I think I might consider doing San Angel for lunch actually. Cheaper options!! That way we can start at Mexico when we go around World Showcase and then snack around F&W and not have to do like a sit-down dinner!! I'll ask the DBF what he thinks :)

I definitely agree with breaking up the day. I don't know if we'll even be going back to our resort at all other than to sleep since we wanna do everything the parks offer, but who knows!

Hiiii

Happy FRIDAY!!! YAY :cheer2:

Did anyone else feel like this week has felt really long?

Here's a little update. Not much has changed.

Onelilspark suggested we try doing Chefs de Franch's fixed-price lunch, or any lunch for that matter. I suggested this to DBF, and I think he really would want to do San Angel for dinner still. I am wondering if I should change it to a later dinner since Mexico is on the end of WS. Right now it is at 5:15 on the 29th. I'm not sure how long it will take us to get through FW though. I plan to be there at rope drop. I know I want to do:

Spaceship Earth
The Land
The Seas with Nemo
Soarin
Test Track
MAYBE Mission Space...I Have never done this before. Any opinions on both versions?
CAPTIAN EO!!
Explore stores and Ice Station Cool (I want to trick DBF into trying Beverly :lmao: )

Maybe I should move it a little later so we have time to start at Canada and work our way over to Mexico after sampling, shopping, and checking out attractions. We could always backtrack though if we don't get to everything. I know I'll want to sample at a F&W booth for dessert.

:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

ALSO, WHY isn't the website ready?? Grrr

In case any of you are wondering about the DBF, the lawyer called him yesterday but he missed the call because he was asleep :headache:

I don't know if he plans to call back. I think he's going to just take out a student loan and pay the ticket, but he'll have to explain everything to his parents, which may not turn out so good. I just can't wait for this mess to be over. It all has to be settled by September 29th because that's when the ticket is due, but I want it to be settled sooner so I don't have to worry about how much I'm going to have to shell out for this!! Hopefully he will talk to his dad today.

I'm off to look at ADRs for SAI!

Apparently the public website will go live on July 12. Which is not the end of June...or the end of May for that matter!

:headache::headache::headache::headache::headache:

I'm so excited for it to come out though. WHAT took them so long? Oh well, three more days :hourglass

About time for a little update!!!

I changed my ADR....

Still at San Angel Inn, but for 6:15 instead of 5:15. That way we have a little more time to explore everything, snack at F&W, and then grab dessert and see anything we may have missed before IllumiNations :goodvibes

I may end up changing it again though after the F&W site finally comes up... Two more days!

A cute thing happened last night. I was using StumbleUpon.com last night, which is a website that let's you click a button and just takes you to a website according to your interests that you put on your StumbleUpon profile, and you can like or dislike a website. After a while, it starts to really know what you would like, and it's an easy way to waste time when you're bored and have nothing to do (or procrastinate..) So, it has this feature where you can Stumble keywords that you type in. I had "disney" typed in last night, and I StumbledUpon this website , AllEars's online collection of Disney World recipes. So, I sent it to Morgan's StumbleUpon because we're "friends" which allows us to share websites to each other.

Later on, he received it in his queue and he was like,

LOOK! THIS IS SO COOL! IT'S RECIPES FROM DISNEY WORLD!

:rotfl:

He's not quite as excited as I am about going to the World, so I didn't expect that reaction from him, but on the inside I was thinking..."I'm slowly turning you into a junkie" :lmao:

He looked at that website for hours, and got even more excited when he scrolled down to the World Showcase recipes.

PLUS he said he would cook me a Disney dinner (three course meal) for my birthday!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Morgan is a great cook and is seriously considering going to culinary school after getting his bachelor's in International Affairs. I'm so excited for my Disney Dinner!!! :yay::yay::yay:

If anyone has looked through that website before and has any suggestions on what would be delicious for an appetizer/entree/dessert, I would really appreciate it!!! Nothing with red meat though please!

Off to take my furbaby to the park :)

I HATE Mission Space; I'm all about thrill rides and not claustrophobic, but that ride ruined me for life. I won't even go near that building.

Dad and I rode it a few years ago; two other girls my age were put with us, and one of them had to use the barf bag during the ride. (Which, are literally located right next to your head, so easy access to grab it.)

I know two people died (at least) on that ride, so that's why the created the tame side and started making the health risks very apparent during the line. I hated it so much though that I won't even consider the tame side. It wasn't worth it, at all. I was sick to my stomach for the rest of the day!

OMG! :scared1:

Maybe I should stay away...I can't believe people have died on it...and they have barf bags?!?! :crazy2:

What happens that makes you feel sick? Just the movement?

On the more intense version, the entire vehicle spins to create the effect of blasting off into space. It can make some people motion sick.

The people who died had pre-existing conditions. If you're at all concerned, just go with the less intense/non-spinning version.

Hmm that makes sense :scratchin

Maybe I'll try the mild version and see what I think. Do you like the ride (either version?

We've always done the more intense version and it makes me a little queasy. I'm usually fine on rides, though occasionally Star Tours bugs me too. My boyfriend, who hates roller coasters, loves it. It's his favorite!

If you can ride most things without getting queasy, you'll be fine doing the intense version.

And as far as me liking the ride...I enjoy it, I think the ability to do that kind of simulation is really cool. So the geek in me enjoys it, but I don't particularly care if I do it each trip. Obviously when I'm with the BF, I'll go on it, but if I'm by myself, I'll probably skip it. If you haven't done it, do it!

I think I will try it! I usually don't get queasy on roller coasters unless there's a big drop, so I'm sure if we hit this before Mexican at San Angel there shouldn't be a problem :lmao:

Silly News!!!

I work as a transcriptionist, and most of the people who call in are financial advisors or insurance salespeople, that type of thing. We also get the occasional senior heathcare support coordinator or psychiatrist or doctor. For the most part though, it's all stocks, insurance, and money...this is me at my job: :surfweb:

Today though was a SPECIAL DAY!! I got a job, and I think it was a grandfather, and he was dictating a message to his family about their recent vacation to...you guessed it...DISNEY WORLD!!!

It just totally brightened up my day at work.pixiedust: I just wanted to get up and tell everyone in the room that this guy just got back from the World! I saved it for the DIS though :)

Nothing new really happening...

104 days!

WHERE is the F&W website?? I need to know.

I can't deal with the waiting....so close to double digits! I have been listening to SO many podcasts! My favorites are the DIS (of course), Be Our Guest Podcast, WDW Today, and WDW radio show.

I am going home this weekend and I'm going to look for old WDW pictures (got the idea from onelilspark...loved the fanny pack picture!! I loved my WDW one when I was a kid :rotfl: )

Soon I think I will be trying to figure out our day-by-day plans...has anyone tried tourinplans.com or something like that? I don't know if it's worth $10 to subscribe. I'm interested in getting the 2011 Unofficial Guide when it comes out (which I think is pretty soon....definitely before September) and then use the 50% off touringplans.com subscription discount. That way I don't have to think as hard about our itinerary!!

Too cute about the DIS call. I would've been giddy, too!

How is everything going with the BF? What'd he decide to do??

They haven't update the www.foodwinefest.com site, but on their main website, it's up! http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/pa...s/epcot-international-food-and-wine-festival/

Don't be hatin on my fanny pack and matching socks ;)

Heheheh I did see that! I'm having such a hard time deciding what I want!

Wait til you see my fanny pack...I'm scanning in the pics right now!! :rotfl:

The problem with fanny packs is that they make my fanny look bigger.

Heheh I guess that's why they call it a fanny pack!

It really did make my day :)

He is going to take out a student loan and pay the ticket. He never did contact the lawyer...after he saw their average fees! He's just going to have to tough it out and pay back a loan and learn to make smarter friends and better choices. :sad2:
