My daughter is pushing my wife and I to purchase a DVC package. Can anyone tell me if they have events for kids at SSR. I noticed that other resorts have kids clubs (places for kids to do things while mom and dad are chillin). Does SSR have movies for rainy days like boardwalk (I think). Shes 10 and she was just wondering.

Thank You

Hi there-hope I can help maybe a little as we are new members at SSR. I've only toured and haven't stayed so we haven't experienced all there is to do. I'm assuming you mean 'things to do' other than the pools-which look great, by the way. There is a Community Hall that I am kicking myself I didn't stop in to see. I've asked around here on the board and I'm told that the CH as SSR is really great. There are organized activitites that include crafts and movies. Some crafts included decorating t-shirt, hats, making beaded jewelry, tote bags, etc. I guess you get a daily schedule of activities when you check in. There are board games and other activites too. I've heard to CM's are really good. There is also Play Station 2 that is free of charge. There is also an arcade that the kids can save their quarters for. There are DVD players in each studio/villa and there is a huge selection of DVD's(Disney, of course) that are free of charge to view-I think you can take 3 at a time. My kids were really excited to see bikes for hire and the grounds would be great for riding around. There is shuffleboard and tennis. I'm hoping they are really fun for the kids because we like to slow down on vaca and don't spend every waking moment at the parks. Do a search of these board for Community Hall and SSR-you'll probably find that thread I was talking about. Hope this helps-Good Luck with your decision!

My daughter was 8 1/2 last time we visited SSR and she loved both the community hall, pool, and the video selection. I have to say that my college age kids also loved them. So I think your daughter will find many years of enjoyment. As far as Kids clubs the ages are up to 12, but I think there is a time when children feel they have outgrown the daycare setup. I have heard of sitting services that will actually take your children into the parks. (Need to do more research).

On the note of Down Town Disney I wish they had a Build A Bear Workshop store. That is my daughters favorite and it would be something special for our trips. By the way DTD at Disneyland has one.
