Daughter got hurt on Peter Pan

5 years ago dd fell in MGM and split open her cheek. She was bleeding all over and within seconds there were several security and first aid people by our side. They whisked us inside a restaurant into the back and away from other guests. They handed us new Mickey sweatshirts and t-shirts and told us to change because we had blood on our clothes. They drove us to the hospital in Celebration and paid the bill for her stitches. They called the next day and sent dd a stuffed Mickey and a get well card. The fall was totally our fault, not Disneys. I do believe if they think it's something serious, they will follow through, but bumps and scrapes must happen all day long & every day in the MK with the number of people they have there. I'm sorry this happened, but if everyone was okay I'd forget about it and move on.

I'm confused by your post.
Where was the ship positioned that you were "sneaking off"? If the ship wasn't fully to the loading/unloading area I would have stayed put until I could safely exit the ride.
The problem was the disabled man trying to board our ship was blocking the path off holding on. The cast member was not trained to handle this situation and kept asking us to get off. They should have let us get off first then board him or tell us to sit while they stopped the ride. The cast member was telling us to get off instead while the other person was trying to get on. Thansk for everyones post my daughter is fine now but was shaken up at the time and the swelling went down. This really is a training issue more than anything else and just a little sorry really would have went a long way in this.

We did stay put until the proper time. We were told by the cast member to exit when it was time to disembark we did and lsitened to her. This took place at the belt to get off and listened to a cast member. How much more could we have done??

I guess when my prescribed medication got stolen from my room at the beginning of my trip is not serious enough because even after they promised me that the housekeeping manager will be in touch with me personally, nobody ever showed up at the scheduled meeting time.

After all, it's only my athritis and anti-depressant medication, it's nothing serious.

Thanks for the clarification, it wasn't clear to me exactly what was going on in the original post. Yes, the CM should have allowed you to exit before trying to load someone. Mom does the parks in a w/c, but is able to load/unload easily. They usually have her standing, but not blocking, car exits until the people have exited. The person being loaded should not have been holding onto your ship to load until you were safely off.

Well, :rolleyes
I am on several different daily meds. The first thing I do when I get in the room is lock them in the safe. I also do not bring my expensive jewelry with me and what I do bring goes in the safe too.
If my meds were stolen I'd have to go home immediately. They are expensive, controlled and much sought after on the street.
I'd be very upset too, however I don't see a need to talk to management about it more than once as it could have been anyone who took them. Housekeeping, other guests, professional thieves, anyone could have walked by when my room was being cleaned and helped themselves. It's a sad reality, but that is the world in which we live, even while we're in Disney World.
If they had not contacted me like they said they would I would have walked down and talked to them. The first week of December had record numbers of guests in the value resorts. They were mobbed and overworked. Not really much of an excuse, but at least accept that you may have been overlooked and not ignored.

It sounds to me that Disney has been disappointing you all the way around lately. Perhaps it's time to take a Disney break. Sometimes that's all it takes for a new perspective. I know, it's happened to me too. I don't blame Disney really, I just needed a break because I came to expect too much and kept getting disappointed.
We went to Universal this last trip and had a blast. Everything there just seemed newer, fresher and nicer than Disney. (!)
I'm hoping the next trip to Disney will bring back the old magic feeling the last few trips were missing. If not, I'll just take another break and go somewhere else. I hear Busch gardens and Seaworld are both simply amazing too. ;) :)

1. I've never heard people steals medication in my life. I guess I'm just being to naive thinking that people can't be THAT evil.

2. I did NOT asked to talk to the manager, the manager actually called me and insist in talking to me directly and personally.

3. I don't think I have a "high expectation" when I'm complaining about:

i. no soap whatsoever for 3 days in a row
ii. housekeeping left a bag of other people's trash in my room
iii. misbillings of (total) US$700 (three dollars here, five dollars there, double billed here, double billed there)
iv. ordering food and the food didn't come until almost 2 hours later because they literally forgot to cook them.
v. myself and approximately 30+ other guests were waiting for a transport to MK from ASMu from 5:00pm to 5:50pm (and we took turn reporting this anomaly to guest services at ASMu)
vi. at the end of my trip, ASMu suddenly added the difference of price between AP rate (which I prepaid on the first day I arrived there) and the regular rate and I have to argue with them even though I have the confirmation letter on WDW letterhead that I'm entitled for the AP discount rate... which in the end got straightened out, but not after spending another 40 minutes fighting with them.
vii. one of my PS (for ice cream social) disappeared.

the list goes on.

It's not Disney that I need to take a break from, but its bad customer service.

Holy cow fat cow!
If all those things happened to me at Disney, I'd have to say it would be my last trip to Disney. I've never heard of so many problems in one trip. Wow.

Yeah, I know. Pathethic ain't it?

I would be willing to bet that did not happen. It would be very difficult to fall out of the ride. And if someone did it would be all over the news. I think you or your friend were misinformed.

Nah. I'm a normal mom, my friend is a normal mom. I've never known her to make anything up or exagerate, and from an engineering point of view, I could see where this might be possible. Go ahead and believe it's made up if it makes you feel better.

Your story is basically the same stories I've experienced this past trip in December 2004.

Basically:

1. Disney does NOT EVER admit any type of wrongdoing, regardless of the issue(s) on hand.
2. They tend to ask for a call-back number and they'll NEVER call you back.
3. They look (and I witnessed) like they are taking notes and actually putting the complaints to their computer, but when you come back the next day (or some other time with any type of complaint whatsoever), magically NONE of the reports have ever been entered to the system. It's more like some staff are erasing these reports.
4. They do NOT care about you. You've paid for the park, you've paid for the room, you'll be forced to eat/drink their food/drink. If you don't come back ever again, they DO NOT care, there are still more people who are willing to take over your 'spot'.
5. Oh, calling/writing to them, won't do squat either. All I got is a confirmation letter. 2 weeks have passed and no news from them. From my previous trip back in February 2004, I've also received the confirmation letter, but never a follow up. Not once.

I disagree,
My neighbor went to WDW in 2003 & somehow her dd's tix kept getting demagnetized so they would get to the park & it would not work & DAILY took over 2 hrs to go back to WL & try to fix it. YES, DAILY! Even though they finally ended up giving her a new ticket it really caused a problem due to the amt of time it took to fix. So my neighbor complained (a lot while she was there & yes, they did not do anything). When she got home she wrote a letter to about 15 people at Disney & ended up getting 5 days of free tix, a stuffed animal Simba (they asked her dd's fav movie & character) & a signed pic of the Lion King cast. So even though it took a while to fix the prob, they did acknowledge it & try to give them something for the inconvenience.

So, OP, I hope everyone is healed & you should continue to contact Disney for resolution!!

I never said that you or your friend made it up, however once the safety bar is lowered it would be very hard for anyone even a small child to fall out. And like I said if anyone did fall out, especially a small child it would have been all over the news. I am sure your friend did not make this up; only she was most likely given information that was not entirely accurate.

Just read my problematic trip report. The total of 16 hours of complaining have been done and nothing was done to rectify the loss of time and vacation mood due to these unprofessionalism.

How much more time do I have to spend to get any kind of "reimbursement" from them? Considering that it's vacation time, if they want to calculate my loss based on my hourly wage, they already have to pay more than $800... plus the additional time to write to xx number of people. That's on top of my ticketing mishaps which already took more than 10 hours to rectify by me calling long distance to them even before the trip (which I've posted on the DISboard as well).

So all in all, I don't think they will pay (the bare minimum equivalent to) $1500 plus long distance cost to me ever.

Unless I live in the US so I can just tell my attorney to get them, I'm not spending anymore time dealing with their lack of unprofessionalism. Too bad I've fully paid for my trip in November 2005.

I'm sorry that your child got hurt on vacation. Never fun when it happens no matter where you are.
However by reading your comments I get this picture in my head. You said your trying sneak off the ride and the CM is asking you numerous times to exit. So for what ever reason the car is four from the end and you haven't gotten off yet. So the Cm has one party half off the ride and the other party half on. Since its getting close to the end he has no choice but to hit the stop button. Unfortunately in the process someone got hurt.
I agree its a training issue for the CM's who run the rides. If someone who has a disability is trying to get on a ride, the ride should be stopped to allow that person amble time. An annc should be made to all other passengers that the ride is going to stop and please stay seated.

That is exactly what I kept asking and they would only say they had to stop it. But again where was the notice that is was stopping or to even let us exit first then get him on. I went two years ago with my FIL who was in a wheel chair and they told us then like they did this time that they do not stop the ride to board disabled people. Maybe they need to change that policy? We still love Disney and my daughter still wants to go back (she wanted to go back first day we got home of course), but from what everyone is saying there seems to be some training issues that need to be fixed first.

Their was a cast member trying to help him get into our cart who should not have been the one to help him as she was overwhelmed by him.

CM's are not allowed to help disabled people in/out of rides. It has to be a member of their group.

On a side note. My friend rode Peter Pan on her trip in November, and the ride stopped because someone FELL OFF- inside the ride. No kidding. Better be carful on Peter Pan.

That is horrible. They had to have been goofing around for that to happen.
You can't just "fall off" if you are sitting on your bottom in the ride. :confused3

I would suggest you get a reimbursement for your November trip. I really don't think Walt Disney World is the place for you!! :guilty:

I think for a non-injury related situation, they are more likely to offer compensation. When it is an injury situation, they have possible legal considerations to consider.

A friend of mine had problem with her tickets being demagnetized. They ended up offering to extend her AP's for a month. She said that would not do any good since they were not returning for 3 or 4 months. They extended her whole families AP's 4 months! She finally discovered what was causing the problem. Her purse had a magnetic snap.

I think that if I couldn't exit safely I would have opted to stay seated and gone around the horn one more time! Talking about injuries my dd first trip to the world (she was 4) was literally a trip....you've never seen a child fall onto and out of so may things in the course of one week. Every photo I've got has her covered in 101 dalmations bandages. Amongst the falls...a doozie while getting off of the carousel and one getting onto the bus...ouch...possibley a case of bad parenting on my part (I'am better at it now that I've had more experience..joking). I had an experience last year on the Rockin' roller Coaster (one of our family favourites). I've been on it many times with no problems but this particular time I was 3 rd car from the back and when I went to tighten my shoulder strap it didn't pull tight onto my lap. The ride operaters buzzed by so fast that when I tried to flag them it was too late. What a ride.....I bruised my collar bone so badly I could barely move the next day. The entire ride I was thrown around in my seat and during the first inversion there was all my body weight dropping down onto the strap which was sitting about ear level on me instead of snug. I thought I was gonna die...for real. I've never hung on so tight in my entire life...not good for my mental health that's for sure. I was real cranky afterwards but it never occured to me to complain. As far as the apology from Disney goes, that would constituate some admission of wrong doing on their part..so it's probably never going to come. Good luck and glad that your dd wasn't seriously injured. :cat:

P.S Fat Cow are you sure that your not suffering from a case of "Mad Cow"...dang...and after these folks just started letting our beef back into their country! You could derail our entire beef industry all over again...simma! Here's some pixie dust heading your way..... :wizard:
