Damage at the Parks?

Every Disney site I go to tells me different things about damage at Disney (if any) Does anybody know if there really was any damage and if so, what was it?

Thanks:)

There was no real structural damage to any facility, with the exception of Living Seas at Epcot, and that was minor. There is a lot of landscaping stuff -- trees down, plant beds flooded out, etc -- and that is in the process of being taken care of. Stuff in the parks themselves was fixed first, with other on-property trees to be cut down and hauled out later. Some signage is gone, mostly in the outer access roads and along I-4. A few service buildings (sheds) were damaged and are in the process of being replaced.

That's pretty much it.

Wasn't ToT closed for a couple days after Frances due to roof damage?

I noticed a fair amount of trees down after Charley and again after Frances. I have not been in the parks after Jeanne.

The Animal Kingdom didn't looks quite as lush in spots after Charley. I saw a couple large stands of bamboo leaning and a few downed trees on the Safari route.

That is true, but TOT is fine after Jeanne. Also with Frances they had some damage at Test Track, but it was exteriro cue roofing and did not affect the ride. As far as Jeanne, all I have heard about is the Living Seas.

We were there for hurricane Jeanne. We went to the parks the next day and you would never know a hurricane blew thru! Disney had a large staff sleep underground...when the storm was over they got to work cleaning and fixing.

Actually it was not that bad from what we saw....and we watched it blow thru as we were in the GF on the 5th floor in an octogon room. We could see everything from the MK to the Epcot ball. The parks opened at 9am the next day and all was beautiful and working and everyone had big smiles. We went to the MK, Epcot, WS and DTD and all looked like nothing happened - no damage.

Jungle Cruise was closed all day Monday, don't know whether or not it was Jeanne related. We saw quite a few uprooted trees, including one right near our room at Pop Century!

We left Monday morning, and all we saw between resort hopping to CR, BW and SSR were uprooted trees, plenty of them at SSR with it being new. There were a few roof leaks at AKL Sunday between Boma and Jiko and also just inside the lobby in the back.

I'm still curious to hear how people staying in the value resorts faired. Since there is no lobby to go to or way to stay inside to go to a restaurant what did you do?

Jungle Cruise is under refurbishment. It was closed in August when we were there (for Hurricane Frances!).

I posted on another thread but I'll repeat my Pop Century-Jeanne experience here.

We weathered the storm at Pop Century. We received one memo under the door on Saturday afternoon that informed us tropical force winds were coming. We were told to prepare to be in our rooms until Sunday evening (about 24 hours) and to stock up on food for breakfast, lunch and dinner as Everything Pop would be closing.

So we headed out to a grocery store Saturday evening and stocked up on supplies (mostly beer, ice Doritos and Oreos). We drove into Lake Buena Vista and back and my mother was still in line at Everything Pop paying for the pizzas! It was CRAZY down there!! The staff in the food court was working hard and had great attitudes the entire evening.

We had a continuous stream of movies on the TV (Finding Nemo, Tarzan, Pirates of the Caribbean, Armegedon, Holes, and more). Our group consisted of 5 adults and only one child and that child (mine) doesn't get to watch TV or eat junk at home. I think Sunday was the best day of his vacation - he laid in bed, watched TV and ate Oreos all day. Someone told me there were characters at Everything Pop on Saturday night, but I didn't see them so I don't know if that is true or not.

We had about 3 phone messages that told us to stay in our rooms and that we would be informed when it was safe to go about. We were also informed that there would be no housekeeping service on Sunday, but we saw that housekeeping had left extra towels and a huge garbage bag (and a towel kitten - meow).

Well, there were people in the Hippy Dippy pool when I went to bed at 1:30 am and people in the pool when I woke up at 7am. We were in rooms 4304 and 4305 facing the pool and didn't hear the storm at all. We went out and about the resort Saturday morning and there were dozens of people out. Everything Pop was closed until about 4pm Sunday when it opened for beverage service only. The rumor we heard was they can't serve food until the winds die down to below 40 mph. We have NO idea if that was true. By about 6pm they were serving a limited menu (cheeseburgers, pizza, chicken soup, penne pasta with alfredo sauce and chicken, vegetable lo mein and chicken strips).

The big 1970's sign was knocked down out front and a lot of trees were down. We also saw a lot of light fixtures from the outside hallways were down. The little door blew off the play-dough can.

We felt safe and sound, but we had a touch of cabin fever from being in the room so long. By about 7pm Minnie and Goofy were in the lobby, followed shortly by Mickey and Pluto.

I hope to get a trip report done this week or next.

Jungle Cruise is under refurbishment. It was closed in August when we were there (for Hurricane Frances!).

We rode Jungle cruise on Monday 9/20 and again on Saturday 9/25 so it was open then, but it was closed on Monday 9/27 and we assumed it was from the hurricane.

We're here now-- arrived after Jeanne. Had lunch today at Beaches & Cream. Noticed the Yacht Club is missing quite a bit of shingles. I also have seen a lot of down tree's and a few signs here and there.

Just back and experienced Jeanne from OKW. we were originally in one of the Ft. wilderness Cabins but we were evacuated to a 2 bdrm villa at OKW. Oh poor us! :) We were on the golf course and I thought it was incredible! The winds were wild and the golf course turned into a mini water park. The walk ways looked like canals. There was a HUGE tree that was laying across the road. disney maintence is wonderful I couldnt believe they were out there in some of those wind gusts cleaning up. Next day everything back to normal with the exception of minor debri around.

Jungle Cruise was open September 10th.

Just back yesterday and also experienced Jeanne from Pop Century. Heather pretty much nailed the experience. We had a room on the back side of the Tramp building, overlooking Hourglass lake. We could see the hurricane blowing, but it didn't really seem to hit our room. And aside from tree damage, I didn't see much property damage. Actually, the next evening we were out at Magic Kingdom, and it was hard for us to believe that there was a hurricane the previous day. Everything just seemed so normal! But Everything Pop was a madhouse Saturday night. I've never seen so many pizza boxes! :)

We have a toddler, and we passed the time with the Disney movies, naps, and snacks & food. I had also bought a few toys at the gift shop the night before to help keep him entertained. We finally got the message that it was safe to leave our room at 9 PM. (Our phone was broken in the afternoon & we were unable to get our voice mail messages until then!) We were glad to be able to leave our room finally!

And we did Jungle Cruise Saturday evening, so it wasn't closed then, at least.

I read somewhere else that the canvas roof on the Off Kilter stage in Canada was ripped and the stage is currently topless and that also means no fans for the boys in the heat.
