D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Ah, nuts! I was just checking e-mail before turning off the computer, and it turns out that little Elizabeth and her mommy and brother and sister are heading back to the US afterall. Apparently, at her 2 week check, they did not like the look of how things were (not) healing in her arm, and need to get further testing and opinions. They fly out Tuesday, while daddy stays behind to help their teammates wrap up and move back to Australia. :sad1: Been a rough few weeks/ months for them.

Also, just heard from Andrew, my son; and he says Dad has not gone in yet, that others' surgeries are taking longer than anticipated. But, that he is well, and in good spirits.

Praying for your Dad tonight as he goes through surgery!

Bummer on the news about Elizabeth...that will not be easy being apart, all the way across the world. :sad2:

I am finally ready to answer...

Okay, what was the question again? Oh yeah. For part A, you hate bananas. Everybody on this TR knows that! But you like frozen bananas for a snack. I did NOT know that. (That makes no sense, by the way.) For part 2, Maroo avoids fruit, but selected a banana as one of the snacks she'd have.

Thank you so much for thinking about Dad last night. He wasn't called in for his procedure until almost 4:00, and was getting rather cranky by then from hunger. He is like me- when you need to eat- you need to eat RIGHT NOW, and waiting makes for a "Grumpy Butt" situation.

When they finally got him in there, he went vago on them, and they ended up having to put his IV in his neck. He was not happy, and furthermore, it shows that he was a lot more nervous about things than he was letting on to, as well.

But, they did repair the 3 tendons and a nerve, and was well enough to eat pizza by 8:00. I guess that says a lot.

They sent him home with a cast for 2 weeks, and told him to view himself as a one-armed guy for 2 months. And to expect physical therapy for another 6.

Again, thanks for all your prayers!!

Sounds like a successful surgery! :thumbsup2 Being able to eat is always a good sign. I'm glad to hear it - hope the recovery and therapy go well for him!

That sounds like good news about your father! I am glad the surgery is over know and hope that the recovery and healing will go as it should! :goodvibes

Thanks again All!! It's been a stressful week, and to add extra on top, I came down with a lower intestinal "thing" I think I picked up at dinner last night. I had hoped to get a new post up today, but it's not going to happen. :guilty: My guts hurt. Immodium is my friend.

So, I guess for those of you who need a little extra time to get your answer in, (Rosie) you get all the way until Sunday night!! That's plenty of time to go to (hint) Thread 1 to find the answer, AND the answer may not be completely in a major post. ;)

Well despite the long wait, the hunger pains, etc., it sounds as if the surgery was successful which is the most important thing. Now he should get some rest...as should you!

I hope you will feel better soon! :flower3: What a shame that the dinner you enjoyed so much yesterday turned out to be bad for you...

If you need entertainment: I just posted an update on my TR! :goodvibes

Liesa,

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

I'm glad your dad is on the road to recovery!

I have 10 minutes to try and find out the answer to you question.... will I find one in time? I think I already know the answers but I need to check. :confused3

EDIT::: OK.. for some reason I cannot find your (Liesa's) post about what you don't like? But I think you hate bananas (because they are mushy)but will eat a frozen banana. And I KNOW Mary hates veggies, although I did read that (at the time) she had to eat 4 servings of fruits and veggies for weight watchers. Then I read that she would eat a frozen banana. So I hope this is the correct answer... if not then I STINK!!!!!!

Well I know I don't have all the answers but I'll stab at what I think

Liessa fav snax frozen banans
Maroo Mickey sandwich

Phew! So glad to hear everything went well. My dad went through a similar surgery to repair the tendons in his arm a couple years ago. He was working on a office renovation, and he cut through his forearm down to the bone with his mitre saw. It took a lot of physical therapy, but he did regain full use of his arm.

Oh crap! ;) Thats a bummer! You have my permission to take it easy!

Great job, Dani!! Awesome!!

Now that you're back on here, I wanted to pose a question... it is about something I pondered on our very long road trip across the country a few weeks ago- maybe you ALL can help me out...

Dani breeds/sells hedgehogs and I totally thought of her when I was thinking about this...

We almost ran over a bunch of them as they are natural around here- sort of all over the place. But, can someone tell me, WHAT was the Good Lord thinking when He created them. Can someone PLEASE tell me HOW this species continues to exist given the nature of hedgehog procreation?? I mean, seriously, think about this for about 3 seconds!! HOW does this happen? I dont' need a video, but I was just pondering: how there can possibly more hedgehogs every day on this earth!!?? :confused3:confused3

OUCH!

LOL Liesa you would be shocked to know this is one of the number one questions I am asked and the answer is that although a hedgehog's quills are quite hard and sharp when the hedgehogs has them in "defense" mode (ie sticking out of its body as armor) when the hedgehog is "calm" their quills are down and remember also that quills are modified hairs not barbed and poisoned like a porcs so they aren't hurtfull.

Therefore when a male wants to mate the female first he sings to her (which sounds like finger nails on a chalkboard to our ears) which calms her then he approaches from the back and climbs onto her back "singing" the entire time once he is in the right place he bites down on the lower middle of her back (this covers a muscle that once he bites into it makes it impossible for the female to tense up or to stick him with her quills) and he is therefore able to get his "job" done. I know when I have a pregnant hedgies as she will have a reddish spot over this muscle) so hopefully this makes sense....speaking of this when am I going to be sending your little animal lovers a hedgie baby to love on?

The words to America's "Muskrat Love" come to mind...

"And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love"

Liessa will ya please make the next CLUE easier:lmao::lmao:

How about Who is Liessa gonna meet in DC with an accent ?????:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sorry about the intestinal thing, hope you're feeling better soon!

As for the latest question, I'm pretty sure I know the answers without looking back, so I'm going to take a guess:

You hate bananas because they make you gag, but you plan to get a chocolate covered frozen banana. Maroo hates veggies, but wants to get a banana for a snack, and count it as one of her veggies.
