First, I love your soy sauce volcano! It looks really tasty!
It was fun! But didn't steam nearly as much as I thought it would.
Second, sorry, but I won't reply to every tiny bit in our epic conversation - just the highlights! I think otherwise we end spending all our spare time carrying multiple conversations on in your PTR...
It's all good, I'm rather behind, and don't have time to be as chatty as I'd like to be anyway.
I better not post this on the DIS...

Might be a topic that is more apt for a private discussion!

I think the German - American relationship is very complex (at least from the German side), since America was on the one hand the "good" allied power which gave us freedom from the Nazis, but then when the cold war dragged on, it was more and more seen as an occupying foreign force. I think that shaped the way we see Americans a lot.
The things you mentioned are seen the same way here. I think on the positive side we also admire the American believe in that you can acchieve anything if you set your mind to it and the general friendliness and excellent custormer service people experience when they are on holiday in the US. On the negative side, Americans are considered superficial (or shallow?). Also they are seen as the foreigners that are least prepared to accept that things are different abroad than what they are used to at home - and don't hesitate to let everyone know about it.
I think you hit the nail on the head here. We hear the same things here- exactly.
You know, I don't think American strip malls are beautiful, but they are interesting to me - I think in a way that camels were interesting to you when you first moved to the steppe!
I think it's probably very much the same! Good analogy!
Katharina's DH was just over for dinner at my place and brought some pictures from their trip to Southern Bohemia last week (she is still in the Czech Republic). You need to bug her to post some pictures of castles. Wow! They do have pretty ones there!!!
Is she still there for touring, or for work??
KATHARINA!! Please post some castle pictures!!! I think everyone would LOVE to see them!!
We had some friends vacation in Prague not long ago, and they LOVED IT!! They said it was VERY affordable and VERY beautiful!
WE would LOVE to meet your parents and listen to your dad's special English!! He sounds charming, and outgoing! If they are up for it, let's plan on it!
You learned some German!

I saw you using it on other threads as well.
The general rule is that if you don't use a foreign language you will NOT learn it.
Well, they store the beer in the tunnels, so the brewery really uses them. And it is a small brewery in itself. At the end of the tour they will show you the boiler/cauldron/kettle (please pick the correct word!!) where the beer is brewed in and it is small.
I am so stoked to see this! SEriously, this is really so very interesting!
Ok, here it is: How to take a train in Germany!!
I hope you will arrive in Nuremberg well rested and without any train problems!!
Now I am looking forward to the game tomorrow!! But I am still stuck in Part 1 (at post 90 now...). It is so much fun to read it all, not just the updates!
I won't quote the whole post about the train, but am thanking you PROFUSELY!! It's an amazing display of your thoroughness and thoughtfulness!!!

You can be assured I will come back to this several times and sort of memorize it so I am very familiar with this process. The more you know...
THANKS!!
I hope we will be well rested too; if we can resist Lufthansa's yummy food and 5 servings of wine, maybe we can get some sleep!
I see you were the very first guesser in Ready, Set, Remember!
That train catching thing looks so complicated. I would surely get on the wrong train
I think they've done a pretty good job at letting you know where you should be, however, I am SOOOOOOOOo glad that Magdalene told us that you need to look for the END POINT of the train, not necesarily YOUR destination. THat would be cofusing!
