D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

I'm loving your scents!

Ok, now that I typed that it sounds a little funny:laughing:

I tend to relate scents with images or feelings all the time. All I have to do is smell Jovan musk and I think of my grandma and the smell of a cigar makes me think of my grandpa. It's pretty niffty how that works, huh.:goodvibes

You just forgot because now you're all popular and stuff. ;) We may have talked about it on Jordan's.

Now that you say it was in J's TR (?) PTR (?) I totally remember that now. I swear it's because I'm getting too old to remember most anything now. :sad2: Popular?? Nah, if you look at the post count, it's me talking mostly. I like to talk to myself- there aren't any more posters than any other thread on here, really.

Maroo, you're amazing. Your capacity for giving just astounds me, and I am in awe of all that you do.

I'm astonished that he knows his DVDs by VIN number. Amazing how the brain works! Truly!

Good luck in organizing everything. :goodvibes

I'm sure this is going to work out over the next few weeks. Maroo's pixie dust filled magic often goes a long way. ;)

:rotfl2:

We were a little young for that! Or maybe just I was (since I was the oldest). :rotfl: I will never forget my older cousins friend thinking I was the lamest thing ever since I didn't know who Paul McCartney and Wings were!

I heart Paul! I think we talked about that on Glennbo's thread too.

Oooh man, Pop is a hard one to think of a smell for! All I can think of, which has already been mentioned, is my Strawberry Shortcake doll that smelled like strawberries.

Another vote for Strawberry Shortcake! She must have been one popular chick!

I love these soaps you've been finding. They look just as good if not better than what you can get at Basin in DTD. As far as a scent for Pop.... I'm kinda stuck. One part of me says chocolate chip cookies and the other says Play D-oh. Great combination if I do say so myself

Basin: Beware. You're about to be raided! Even with my new toys, Basin's totally on my radar! Oh! And I forgot to mention... my mom is looking for candles for me to have during my bath. I don't think that's against the rules... At least water will be close by.

Play dough and choco cookies sounds like a lot of days at my own house. ;)

Phew! You blazed through twenty pages since I've been gone! Hmmm, scents of the trip. There are so many, aren't there? I love the smell of that Laila perfume at Norway. And (you can laugh) I really like the scent of the shampoo at the resorts. Sort of lilac-ey. But my number one Disney scent would have to be oranges - due to Soarin', of course. So I definitely applaud your choice of orange for Pop.

Hey, I think I may have some music for you - didn't you say you're looking for the music from The Living Seas? I wonder if i could email you an mp3 attachment? I've also got the Animal Kingdom official soundtrack which has really cool bgm. I could burn it and send it to you - if I knew where you'd be and when!

Better not leave on vacation again, Rebecca. :lmao: J/K...

I've never had Disney shampoo, since I've only ever stayed at the Fort (2x). I'm looking forward to finding out what all the rage is over shampoo.

WhaT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: do you have the Seas???? OK, I"m PMing you RIGHT now!!

I'm here! I will admit, I have only read this 3rd installment, but do want to go back and get the rest of the story as time allows.

I have a million questions - but I'm certain its all in the updates and I just need to read. :goodvibes

Maroo, I will say a prayer or two for that family you are working with and that everything works out!

As far as a scent for Pop, I think orange is very fitting. It's a bright color and a bright scent, much like Pop. It's a happy scent, and Pop is so shiny and happy feeling I think!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: Brook!! A DISCelebrity joins the ranks!! But this is no ordinary Soldier; NO WAY! This is one who loves her a Casey Nugget as much as I do!! I'm thrilled to have you here!

Keep reading... you won't be sorry, especially if you will play the game starting in a week or so!!

\Orange scent.. "bright is a good description"!!

I'm loving your scents!

Ok, now that I typed that it sounds a little funny:laughing:

Can you smell me all the way over there?? Sorry! I know it's hot, but...

It is VERY nifty how that works- I have zillions of trigger scents!

winkers posted:Were you a Nun?
Oops, just saw this question while catching up....yep, I was a cloistered nun a long time ago. :thumbsup2 Of course you know the ones who become nuns were not the goody two shoes - that type would never make in religious life.:sad2:

Good Morning, Liesa!:goodvibes

Wow Mary, that is awesome what your church is doing for this family. Also, I don't know what the Autism Speaks chapter in Mississippi is like, but here in Tennessee when we had the floods, they had offered assistance if anyone needed it. They even personally called us. It was amazing, but we were fine and didn't know any other families with an autistic child that were affected by the floods. So I would contact someone down there and see if they can offer the family any assistance, especially since they lost so much.

I hope this boy and his family get their Disney trip.

Have you ever thought about how important the task that photographers play in war? Let me show a few images; I think most of you will immediately recognize them as irrefutable instruments that invoke feelings, passions, opinions, heritage, disgust, or patriotism.

The point of this exercise really isn’t to dwell on WHAT emotion it brought about, but rather the fact that they most likely did something within you is the whole point! Images and photos are crucial to record events, to enable one to relive a specific point in time, and to help bring others to a place of being able to share those things you’ve experienced. While doing my research for this installment I was frankly brought to tears with some of the incredibly disturbing images captured during the various wars, but I think I’m safe to say that that was the photographer's point! To cause emotions to surface, and possibly even spur some on to action.

I can promise no less during our HAPPY raid on Disney. I’ll say it right now, so there’s no grandiose expectations on anyone’s part as to my skill- I have a teensy little, PoC, as I affectionately call my itty bitty Nikon Coolpix, and it does what it can do. Blurry, grainy poo. But, there’s a heart and a motivation behind the lens. I’ll do my best!!! Of that, I give my word.

For those of you who are new, and as a review to those who’ve been here a long while, let’s do a little recap of the photo themes you CAN expect.

1) Fountains. I love fountains, and I think they make fantastic backdrops for Disney pictures. Disney fountains especially, have some great detailing that I hope to focus in on, and hey, most of you have gathered by now, that I have absolutely NO problem asking any unsuspecting passerby to snap a shot of me. That way, I get an easy out for the way it may, or may not turn out. And remember, for those of you who’ve played the Master Predictor Game, your guesses are recorded- we’ll see who comes closest.

2) Although Tate hasn’t made an appearance in quite some time, I am still compiling a list of where he’d like his picture taken. It is a growing list, but remember, some of those shots and poses will depend on YOU!! If you’ll recall, Tate is requesting that any outfits or props you’d like to send his way will make his photo hunt that much more FUN!!!

3) HATS! HATS! And more HATS! Wherever the opportunity affords itself, silliness involving hats will ensue. Some day, I should take a trip with the KatMark Gang!

4) And last, and not even least, is the Food Art Array you’ll end up with. It’s become like…OBLIGATORY around here, so I won’t disappoint any of you by being neglectful in my duties. OH! And there is a VERY FUN photo shoot planned that involves wieners. ;)

I’ll leave you all with that, and let you scoop yourselves out of the gutter, where I know some of you have just tripped and fallen.

I will be looking forward to your photos! I am sure that there will be some very creative pictures! :goodvibes

Perhaps I ought to ask again for Tater's measurements??

I am very thankful to report that my days off for that have NOT messed this trip up. It would have messed up the trip with Lauren's famiy, but it turns out they are no longer going in November, so I guess it all worked out.
Glad to hear it isn't going to mess up your trip! Positive thoughts and prayers that you will continue to improve and can fully enjoy it when you get there!

I am in the process of setting up a trip for a family that I have gotten to know. They are the Carson family - They have a really neat story, but I will tell you the short part of it - and how it may affect my solo days of THIS trip.

A major loss for any family - but for this family already trying to keep their son out of state sponsored care, they were devastated by the loss.

My church sort of adopted them when my church was out doing work for a lot of the families right after the storm. This family did not have a church home in Yazoo City and were in need of so many things. So my church friends have rounded up clothes, furniture, and some other things they needed.

His family has been trying to get him to Disney to meet Mickey Mouse - but the cost of his education and travel to get his needs met have always been first priority. He doesn't qualify for a wish because what he has is not life threatening.

Anyway...this story is a lot longer - but to shorten it a bit - there are some of us that want him to REALLY get to go to Disney. They need to go when the older child does not have to miss so much school and they need an assistant to go with them.

So...we are shooting for Labor Day weekend. I was able to get them a room at the POP - even with this very late notice - for Free Dining. So it really is not a terribly expensive trip for them, considering.

But we are working on finding an assistant that will be able to go with them and work out travel arrangements, tickets and lodging for them, too.

IF we can't find an assistant - or don't have the funds to bring them - then it is possible that I will spend some of my solo days helping them with their son and getting them on their way to the parks and such.

It would not really be ideal - Ideally we would have one of his assistants that he is used to - and a male would be better - but the primary goal is to get them to Disney! And I am confident that it will all work out somehow.

We are still trying to raise the funds to get them to go - so the whole thing would fall apart if we couldn't get that done, anyway. And then they would have to go later in the year, possibly - and it wouldn't affect this trip at all.
Trying to drum up additional support for this whole thing! I am even contemplating if I can take the time off to help with the trip in some way. Please send me a PM and give me the additional details (what specifically still needs to be done, the exact dates already planned, etc.)

Their good friend and neighbor was killed in the storm as she literally laid down on her three sons. The sons are all fine, but she died. :sad1:
Very sad story indeed. Sending prayers for comfort and strength!

Ummmm.... I"m going with the Glenn half. :confused3:rotfl2: (That was too easy, give me a new one.)
You already know me too well I think......:rotfl2:

Would love to have seen the photographer taking this picture. You know, where did he stand, was he in the front of another boat or the stern, stuff like that.....:)

I'm sure it will be a very interesting visual smorgasbord for our enjoyment!

Sounds like some interesting options. I especially like the food pics, but not sure why...:confused3

Okay, I had a comment about hikes in the mountains and this being done before, but you went and gone and spoiled it with your clairvoyance!

Liesa, I love your photo ideas, and I think you'll do a fine job!

I never worry about photo quality with my point and shoot, and I think it's okay to go overboard with photos. You never know when you're going to capture that special moment. :thumbsup2

Ah thanks! I had no idea what Liesa is talking about with the gutter, now I know who, she was talking about! :rotfl:

Along the same lines as Marv....as I read your post all I could think about was how all of the photographs from the 18th century have that strange brush-stroke quality to them. ;)

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to your TR and all of the great pictures you're going to get!

I can think of nothing I would like more than to have you join our hat brigade. :)

I am not in the gutter...I promise. :rotfl:

I love your list of photo ops (especially the hats! and the food). I'll try to not get to far behind on tomorrow's update with the surgery.

Behave while I'm gone. ;)

The nurse in the kiss picture from WWII, just passed away a few weeks ago. I found out about on MSN who of course had a ridiculous article about how it is a picture of harassment since the nurse didn't know the solider. PFFFFT. People are too much sometimes.

I love Disney pictures. You can never have too many of them BUT you forgot something really important on your list.....LIGHT FIXTURES. :rolleyes1

Ah thanks! I had no idea what Liesa is talking about with the gutter, now I know who, she was talking about! :rotfl:
Hey, hey, hey! I resemble that remark....:) (For some reason I was actually suspicious who she intended that comment for :guilty: )

Of course, I have no doubts there should be room left nearby in anticipation of your arrival. :lmao:

I am not in the gutter...I promise. :rotfl:
:rolleyes1

And poles

Ok, guys, your responses were EXACTLY what I thought they might be- esp. about the PAINTING!! I KNOW that was a painting; the point was about war IMAGES!!!

I will be looking forward to your photos! I am sure that there will be some very creative pictures! :goodvibes

Perhaps I ought to ask again for Tater's measurements??

I hope we can do something creative during this trip! They may not have quality in technique, but they should make up for it in FUN!

I'll take Tate's measurements again, and get those posted...

Glad to hear it isn't going to mess up your trip! Positive thoughts and prayers that you will continue to improve and can fully enjoy it when you get there!

Me too! Nothing worse than not feeling well on vacation!! Be healthy, maroo!

You already know me too well I think......:rotfl2:

Maybe so. :lmao:

Would love to have seen the photographer taking this picture. You know, where did he stand, was he in the front of another boat or the stern, stuff like that.....:)

Maybe from one of the ice floaties. :confused3 You knuckleheads! I know that's not a photo!! :rotfl2:

I'm sure it will be a very interesting visual smorgasbord for our enjoyment!

I'm sure it will. That and more.

Sounds like some interesting options. I especially like the food pics, but not sure why...:confused3[/QUOTE]

I confess, I do too. Besides just being lovely by nature, they do help all of us planners in getting a feel for portions, value, etc...

Okay, I had a comment about hikes in the mountains and this being done before, but you went and gone and spoiled it with your clairvoyance!

My other name is Leota.

I take pix of Ethnic men (Italians ) and of POLES , not the ones from Poland !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We all know the kinds of trouble you get into, Rosie!! I especially love your vantage points from the bushes! :rotfl:

Perhaps I should hide my husband? ;)

I think you may be right, TK!

Liesa, I love your photo ideas, and I think you'll do a fine job!

I never worry about photo quality with my point and shoot, and I think it's okay to go overboard with photos. You never know when you're going to capture that special moment. :thumbsup2

Well, I got exactly ZERO shots inside any dark rides, so those are out. Anything fireworks related, ditto. Out. That leaves daytime/outdoors.

You're so right. Once in about 30 shots you get a REAL keeper. :thumbsup2

Ah thanks! I had no idea what Liesa is talking about with the gutter, now I know who, she was talking about! :rotfl:

:lmao: I like that, not a place, but a who. :rotfl2:

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to your TR and all of the great pictures you're going to get!

Amazing what photochopping can do!

Great may be quite an overstatement. But ya got start somewhere. I'll be starting with the owner's manual soon.

I liked all of your images! ;)

And I am so glad that someone else will doing a bunch of picture taking this trip!

Can you be in charge of all food pics? Because I am inept at remembering them at all. :confused3 And I am so looking forward to taking pictures of things I have hardly ever had time to really notice.

This is going to be awesome! :)
