For those of you that have stayed here, I'm looking for your input as to whether my first request should be a first floor room, or if I should ask for a renovated unit (of course, I'd love to get both!!!).

I like the idea of a 1st floor mainly because I like the feel of walking out of the unit onto "my lawn", rather than only having the small lanai area for any 'outside time'.

But, if security is an issue, or if being on the first floor will cause more bugs to be in the unit (?), or if I'll be listening to footsteps above my head all night -- then I'm more than willing to walk a few steps and lose the feeling of 'my lawn'. :D

Or, will all the units be renovated by the time we are going in late April 2005?

Something else you may want to factor into your request:
Cypress Pointe (Phase I) has no elevators. If you have lots of luggage, you'll be lugging it up the stairs. There are elevators at the Grand Villas, however.

Since there are no elevators at CP, I would go with first floor request. All the units have screened porches, even the ones on the first floor. You will not be walking out onto a lawn!

I was at the Cypress Pointe website yesterday, and the page which shows the difference between the two resorts, also mentioned that all units should be completely renovated by early 2005. We are going January 28th, and we were thinking that our chances of getting a renovated unit should be pretty good, as the ones that aren' complete, are probably being worked on.
We had although put in a request for a 3rd floor renovated unit.

I was told during my December stay that the last block of unrenovated rooms would be taken out of inventory in January and renovated over the next few months.

I loved the decorating in my newly remodeled room. There were lots of nice touches (silk plants, great color combinations, nice furniture, new appliances). Only the edge on the counter in the kitchen still showed wear. They actually put a new layer of sealant over the beat up edge that was missing at least half its finish. Other than that, the unit was great.

You will definately get a renovated unit. The only thing available at CP are the renovated units.

Thanks to all of you for the information. I'm glad to hear I'll definitely get a remodeled unit!!!

Nice to know that I won't be able to walk out of the screened in porch on the first floor. Kind of odd that they are set up that way, though. But, it will make it easier to accept a 2nd or 3rd floor unit. Thanks for the heads up!
