CVS Weekly 9/13-9/19

Puffkin - Congrats on your job!! In this economy I'm always really happy when I hear someone found something.

My dh, who will eat nearly anything, doesn't think he wants to try the Energy Shots. So, I don't know what we'll do with them. I usually save the energy drinks/Sobe things for our vacation drinks, but I'd prefer he not have a heart attack from this drink while on the road!!:lmao:

My trip:

1 Colgate $2.99
1 Listerine Total Care $3.99
1 2 pack Reach toothbrushes $3.99
2 Energy Shots $9.98
1 Clean and Clear .99
1 Lumene Vit C $2.99
1 Schick 2 Ct. $1.29

-1 coupon Colgate
-1 coupon Clean and Clear
-1.29 Schick
-2 Listerine
-2 Reach
-5/25
-5 Lumene

-5 ECB
-3 ECB

OOP: $1.72
Got back $15.98 ECBs (Listerine, Energy Drinks, Colgate)

I made almost $8 yesterday!! Woohoo! The woman at the register remembered my $90 trip for $0.11 last week and told me how she was telling all her friends about me. I'm not sure if I'm embarassed or proud!!

Rite Aid yesterday:

1 Wet Ones 1.99
3 Air Wick IMotion Kits $13.47
5 Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoos 14.95

-6 Air Wick
-6 Air Wick
-6 Air Wick
5/25
-1 shampoo
-1 shampoo
-1 shampoo
-1 shampoo
-1 shampoo

OOP $12.65
I'll be getting back: $11
$10 - Johnson and Johnson
$1 Wet Ones

So, for $1.65, I got lots of Christmas presents!!

Question - Do you guys make up baskets of this stuff for Christmas gifts? I've been setting things aside to use as stocking stuffers/gifts for a while. How do you package them up? Is that tacky?

I have a question about Walgreens RR tapes. I was reading on slickdeals.net that someone turns them into a GC when she gets $10 worth accumulated. Has anyone here done that? I'm getting tired of trying to work out deals at Wags each week and could put it all on hold for a while if they can go on a GC that can be used anytime.

Was the Clean & Clear a trial size, or bigger size on clearance?

Our go through that like crazy!

My brother described our stocking gifts to his girlfriend (now wife) years ago like this...You know all the stuff you can buy in the checkout lane? The little must haves and mustn't forget? Those are stocking gifts!

When I was in college and having to buy laundry/cleaning/toiletry type supplies with an extremely small income, my sister gave me a box full of stuff as a Christmas gift. It was wonderful.

Is there a new Lumene coupon out there somewhere? I love those little lotion jar thingys.

My grandma used to put this stuff in stockings too. I save up the makeup/nail polish for my dd's stockings and they love it.

I have a question about Walgreens RR tapes. I was reading on slickdeals.net that someone turns them into a GC when she gets $10 worth accumulated. Has anyone here done that? I have never heard of this before but if you find out how to do it will you please let me know. Walgreens is a pain in the rear for me. Too hard to roll.

Lol, that is too cute. I don't get out that way much....but good to know where all the stores in the area are!

Thanks everyone on the job wishes! It took me just shy of 3 months to find something....but it was nice to have the summer off. This is a temp-to-perm position. We have already negotiated out the perm salary and the temp "trial period" should be about 2 months. I am 99.9% sure the job will go perm....but I don't want to get too excited until it does. The money and benefits are a bit less than I wanted, but the location is really convenient and that was a huge issue for me. The company is growing (they sell business systems and services) and the people seem nice so hopefully it is a place with lots of room to go. I am just glad that the search is finally over!

Sounds really promising, I am so glad you found this job!

I have never tried it, I think those who do it buy lots of other stuff in the transaction and the first thing they do is get a gift card for a certain amount and then it's handed back and they put it away so by the time they start scanning coupons, the gift card is forgotten about.

Question - Do you guys make up baskets of this stuff for Christmas gifts? I've been setting things aside to use as stocking stuffers/gifts for a while. How do you package them up? Is that tacky?

I make "holiday survival kits" for teachers, friends, etc. That way I can put odd stuff in them like Excedrin and Gas-X :rotfl: (and candles and robes)

I buy baskets at the Dollar Tree and packages of those cellophane bags that you can fit the whole basket in and tie at the top.

I'll work the survival theme into any holiday/occasion.

So I just went and did a pretty good transaction thanks to my sister. Thanks Lexxiefern!

Here it is:
1 Colgate 2.99
2 Listerine Total care 7.98
1 Reach tbrush 2 pk 3.99
2 Dyna Pep 9.98
1 sm pk tissue CVS .50

Total = 25.44 Before tax
- 5/25 Ready fill
-4 (2 $2 off) Listerine
-2 Reach toothbrush
-1 Colgate

= 13.44 before tax
paid with ECBs and some cash
got back 9.98 (Dyna Pep), 6 (listerine), 2 Colgate = 17.98 Back in ECBs

For a profit of $4.54 before tax!!! I ended up paying .12 in tax so no biggie!

And to think I wasn't even gonna go this week!

Has anyone seen any good deals for wipes lately? I just got a note from DD's teacher looking for some. And I think I'm almost out of the Playskool ones from last April. Wish I could get a great deal like that again!

I can't believe you're saying it either! Often I think I will do the same, but I don't know how I'm going to keep myself from looking at the ads. This was definitely a good time to take a vacation from CVS, the next few weeks are BORING.

Please still say hi while you are on hiatus, and if you have time, go find those Miller girls, I think smiller got lost in the woods with her dad or something :rotfl:

Yes, I make up really nice gift baskets stuffed with stuff. My grandfather loved his....he still talks about it. It was his favorite gift ever he said. He is too funny, he gave me the basket back and said he wanted it filled again next year. He also gives me his coupon inserts every week to "help me out".

I give tons of stuff away, and while some people thought it was a bit odd at first, now they look forward to it. For my 12 year old nieces birthday I gave her a hair straightener this year and she was disappointed that I didn't give her a bag stuffed with CVS stuff....too cute:goodvibes

Was the Clean & Clear a trial size, or bigger size on clearance?

Our go through that like crazy!

It was the trial size. My 13 yo ds is just starting to need to use something like this. So, we're trying out all the little sizes of things to find out what he likes and what works.

LOL! I've always been a practical gift-giver. This will just push me to a new level of practical!!

Is there a new Lumene coupon out there somewhere? I love those little lotion jar thingys.

My grandma used to put this stuff in stockings too. I save up the makeup/nail polish for my dd's stockings and they love it.

The Lumene coupon was one I got from scanning my card at the store. I got $5 off the Vit C line. This week I got another one for $5/$20 in Lumene products.

Does the Dollar Tree have the cellophane bags? That sounds easier than the rolls of cellophane I was getting!

I love the survival theme!!!!

Sounds like you picked a good time of year to do it! I get a little tired of it sometimes and then I get a GREAT deal at the store and I'm right back at it!! LOL But, I can see where I'll need a break soon too.

I can't believe you're saying it either! Often I think I will do the same, but I don't know how I'm going to keep myself from looking at the ads. This was definitely a good time to take a vacation from CVS, the next few weeks are BORING.:

I'm actually glad the next couple weeks are boring!!! That means an easier time at checkout for me!

Your grandpa sounds like a sweet man! Yea- I have a friend who used to think it was weird that I shopped like this. But, now, she loves it when I let her shop in my closet!!!

Does the Dollar Tree have the cellophane bags? That sounds easier than the rolls of cellophane I was getting!

I love the survival theme!!!!

Yes, and for every holiday too, plus some any occasion ones. The nicest have 2 in a package, but sometimes I find some with 5 in a package. After major holidays they will often mark those as 4 for $1 so that is when I buy them.

I think I can make a few deals happen this week, LOL. Not sure when I will get there though because we are probably going to Knoebels (theme park) tomorrow due to a rain out today and I start work on Monday! There were some advantages to being unemployed, LOL....

Congratulations on your new job! I  Knoebels! We were just there a couple of weeks ago.
