CVS Weekly 9/13-9/19

Hi everyone, can't believe i'm saying this, BUT i'm gonna be taking a couple of months off - unless something great pops up! Was away for 2 weeks, have not bought the paper - have about 20ecbs on each card and since no great deals for the next couple of weeks atleast i'm just gonna use it up on things i'll use that i don't have a year stockpile of LOL! I've taken a week off here and there but never weeks or even months but i'm a bit burnt out so Happy Shopping.....

Lisa

I can't believe you're saying it either! Often I think I will do the same, but I don't know how I'm going to keep myself from looking at the ads. This was definitely a good time to take a vacation from CVS, the next few weeks are BORING.:

Ya know, I'm kinda, somewhat feeling the same way. I could get stuff to add to my stash, but I have soo much of it, even though I continually give it away, as well as having baskets completed for gifts.

I'm starting to think that while we DO save, we DO still spend - especially those of us who have more OOP. Mine is sometimes just pennies OOP, but oftentimes it's still $4 - $5. Still a great savings, but if I really don't *need* the stuff, well, maybe, just maybe, CVS is laughing allllll the way to the bank.:lmao:

LOL well clearly they are, as they're not in business for their health!!! :rotfl:

But when you really think about it, we're still spending, and they're still profiting. So I'm glad to hear the next weeks are boring LanaJae, because there's really nothing we *need* at all. Even soda is stocked for the next many weeks (months?) My receipts say I'm *saving* thousands, but I'm probably still spending more than I normally would.

Ok, sorry for the ramble, hope it made sense? Am i just burnt out, too? But occasionally I really wonder how much I'm really saving with a stash of stuff we as a family really won't use.

:confused3

Has anyone had a problem with the coupon on i heart cvs for the $25 GC with a transferred script? I printed it out and the thing beeped like crazy and said it didnt match the card and the cashier was very nice and they finally got me my gc by ringing up the gc, then refunding it (thats what they said they were doing). It was very embarrasing, and Ive never had anything like that happen before. Just wondering if anyone else had used it and had it work.

I get out of control at Walgreens and end up spending real money on things I absolutely don't need and then I am mad at myself.

I really enjoy giving things away though and I'd miss that. The tax thing at CVS bugs me a lot so I am much more careful lately, especially about buying things like those energy shots - I only used them this week to bring my total up to use a $/$$.

My whole thing with drugstore shopping is more about the happiness I get out of it, it takes my mind away from having health problems that continue to escalate without any relief in sight, so for that reason alone, I think I'm going to stick with it. I have found myself going in and not buying anything except maybe using a coupon for a free candy or something - I like looking at clearance, even if I don't buy anything.

This week is so lame!! This thread was almost on page 3:scared1:.

There is a money maker deal at WALGREENS this week on the True North nut crisps. They cost $3, give a $3 RR and there is a $1 IP out there.

Does Walgreens take expired manuf. coupons?

I've had them accept expired RR which are labeled mfg. coupons, but I've never tried any other type of expired coupon there. It may depend on the cashier you get.

I don't think this has been mentioned, sorry if it was.

CVS has their $6.99 containers of Cat Litter at 90% off - 69 cents!!! Its not a well known brand but works well. I found 3 at one cvs, but the other CVSs I tried were sold out. Worth looking for!

Thanks. I don't have any cats, but my brother has 5! I will check out our CVS because I am sure they could use the litter. I'm not sure if they are brand loyal or not. But for .69 cents I will risk it!

Congrats on the new job - that's so exciting!!
It's been a pretty good week for CVS, but I think I will sit out the next couple of ones. I still had several Ready Fill 5/25 coupons, so moneymaker on the Listerine, Colgate, and energy. I honestly don't know where to put the stuff that I have collected lately, especially Glade and Listerine. I want to give it to my siblings but my husband wants to wait for Christmas:santa: Since I started with the coupons, he's definitely become more frugal. He says even if we win Powerball, we still have to use coupons.

I've been toying with going to Walgreens this week to pick up some of the Carefree Ultra and the True North (should roll into each other perfectly, with the True North coupon) but I have NEVER had a good transaction there. It's at the corner of my house and except for emergency milk, we avoid it. One cashier actually kept a Catalina of mine and pretended it hadn't printed out!! It was an unadvertised sale, so I didn't have backup:(

I have to agree with you LanaJae, though. Last year, we went through a tough time and going to CVS kept me sane. It was cheap therapy - distracting, and it felt good to be able to give back to family and friends. I work full-time, so once a week I would load up the kids after work and head to my grandfather's house. The bigger boys would stay with my cousin, uncle, and grandfather to play video games (none at home so it was special) and I would go with my aunt and the baby to CVS. For an hour, it was retail therapy and I got an even better relationship with my aunt out of it. It was also great for my kids to hang out with my grandfather (he's 95), uncle, and cousin. At that time, the deals were huge - limits of 5 on most things, tons of frees, X/XX coupons galore so we would come home with these big bags of stuff that I would pose on the dining room table for my husband to admire:laughing:

Thanks again everyone on the well wishes for the job, you guys are the best:thumbsup2

I just wanted to throw out that once you get good at CVSing, you really have to stay disciplined and not get caught up in doing all the deals. My OOP is always <$1 and I pass up a ton of GOOD deals but not FREEBIES. Unless we absolutely need something, I ONLY do deals where I break even on bucks or come out ahead. It is hard to pass up some of the deals, but that is the only way to not spend too much money.....

I also agree that it is a good hobby/distraction. I find it fun. I think if I HAD to do CVSing to make ends meet, I wouldn't have as much fun. It really helped me get through my unemployment time and give me something to look forward to. Also, getting laid off is very depressing and really hits your confidence. It felt good to CVS because I knew I was good at something :goodvibes We all go through waves where we need a break from it, but it only takes one great week to suck you back in!!!!

LOL!! :rotfl:

My DH has really come onboard with the coupons this summer too. He'll even use some!!! But I don't think he would if we became rich!

I have to agree with puffkin and Lanajae about not going crazy over some deals. If I don't need it and it isn't free or a money maker I don't do it usually. But what helps is. I trade in my Mypoints for CVS gift certificates. And I also do that on my Discover Card. And that works out really well. I trade in $40 in rewards to get a $45 GC. So it's like I got a $5 coupon. And then my OOP doesn't hurt so much.

By the way, Lanajae, thanks for the link to the Ready fill coupon. I meant to thank you previously-------So Thanks! And I'm sorry to hear your health problems don't feel like they are improving. That must be incredibly frustrating. :grouphug:

Anyone?

I don't have experience with this particular coupon. However, it is not uncommon for CVS coupons to beep. I've had ones that have been sent directly to my email, with my name on them, and unused that have beeped.

I know its a little embarassing. But most clerks are used to it.

Yes, thanks Lanajae for the link! I was able to print out a couple the other day with a 9/30 expiration but when I tried yesterday I got an error saying to come back later to print :confused3 This of course was after I took the quiz.

Anyone had any luck printing these today? On I heart CVS there are $/$$ coupons but they always beep for me so I prefer the readyfill ones since they don't beep.

Puffkin, I'm not sure if I'll catch you tonight, but do you know of any Rite Aids around here that will definitely take a Bogo coupon on an item they have on sale Bogo? I just got SEVEN of the Covergirl foundation/face product BOGO q's in the coupon train today and I'd like to use as many as I can tomorrow on their sale. I know, though, that some Rite Aids won't take a BOGO on a BOGO.

Thanks, I got 2 of them! :thumbsup2

You know, those are good points. I must admit its still great fun to get a big bag of stuff for such little OOP. And when its more OOP, its due to buying stuff we need and still good prices, like soda for example.

:thumbsup2

What does the cat litter look like? I went to one CVS last night and scanned every cat litter. I didn't find anything and walked out. The cashier probably thought I was crazy!!!
