CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 1/20/08-1/26/08

I can't say for sure, but I think this is what happens..

The coupons adjust the totals so the remaining tax is based on the amount after coupons, but before ECBs are used for payment.

It's hard for me to figure it out in MN because we don't pay tax on food or over the counter meds, but we pay it on snack and convenience foods like pop.

We pay 9.75% tax. My order was $52.xx and tax was $5.xx making it $57.xx. I only used 1 $2 Q, a 5/50 CRT, a 5/50 printable and $28 or so in ECBs. It really confuses me. But like I said before it is not hard to confuse me.

I've been sitting here with a calculator looking at your trip from today and there's no way I can come up how it works. The closest I can figure is that you paid tax on a prorated amount after ECBs and CVS coupons, plus you paid tax on the full amount of the mfg. coupon savings ($2.69)

or

your out of pocket was 38 cents with 28 cents tax (tax on the mfg. coupon amounts plus tax on 38 cents?).

All I know for sure is that this is a good thing! You'd think that you'd have to pay tax on the entire amount no matter what, as that's how many other coupons/rebates work at stores.

Yes I did than triple coupon too.

Now I have another question. I did not think ECBs paid for your tax. But for example today on the shopping trip I posted today my taxes were over $5. After I used coupons and ECBs tax was down to .66. Do you know how that works?

ECBs do not pay for tax but they do reduce your pretax amount. So if your total was $10 before ECBs and you paid with $9 in ECBs, you would only pay tax on that last $1. This would screw me up with ECBs all the time as I would look at the amount after CVS and mfr coupons and get out a corresponding amount in ECBs. It never failed that I end up in the negtive with the last ECB. So I now get out ECBs equal to around $1 - $2 less than the total.

I totally agree! I used to watch the register balance after coupons in order to decide which ECBs to use on the spot, but then was caught off guard when the ECBs would take off the tax (a nice problem!); sometimes I have to grab the candybar at the register. What works for me now is to calculate at home before I go how much the balance will be after man.coupons and CRTs, assuming no tax. Then I match up ECBs to get at close as possible.

That's exactly what I do. I have to pay tax no matter what, so when I'm planning at home I don't even factor it in.

Sometimes, though, I'll get a CRT on transaction #1 that I end up using on transaction #2 so then I'll just ask "what's my pre-tax total?" and figure out my ECBs from there.

when using the 10 off 50 coupon is that for the total before the bogo free offeres or other deals. The register kept beepiing at me yesterday and the cashier said it was because after the mm's came off the total was less the 50.00:confused3 since I am new I had no clue. I know I need thicker skin but I get so nervous when that stupid register beebs and the cashier starts rolling thier eyes:rolleyes1

Total AFTER BOGO - it is pre-coupons wether CVS or mfg but after sale prices.

The total would have to be after CVS BOGOs but before any coupons. Just think of it this way, your total has to be over the required amount before you hand them any pieces of paper and any item that they are giving you free doesn't count toward that total.

Hope that helps!

BTW, if anyone was waiting for the printables to be released before they used them, they have now been released

The MM's come up B1G1 free as they are ringing up so that free bag doesn't add to your total. Anything that is a CVS deal of B1G1 free or B1G1 50% off will ring up like that so don't count the full price of that item into your total.

If you buy something and use a B1G1 free coupon you count the full price of both item toward your total. The coupon will take the price off after your total.

Also, I always give any $ of $$ coupons on top of my coupon pile so they come off first.

I hope that helps and I didn't leave your more confused.

Yup, as others posted, CVS $x/$x coupons are the balance after CVS sale prices.

Am loving this M&M sale-ECB combo. deal this week. Today's trip:
4 bags Valentine Plain M&Ms, 14 oz. $3.49 B1G1 Free
1 Mennen 24/7 Speed Stick, $3.99
1 Cadbury Mini eggs (filler because I was going to be -$0.03 after ECB and mine doesn't adjust the ECB down)
-----------------------------------------
Total was $10 + change
Less $2/$10 CVS printable
Less $9 ECB (from having previously bought 6 bags of M&Ms)
oop = $0.62+$0.04 tax
Received $6 ECB for M&Ms, $3.99 ECB for Mennen, & $10/$50 CRT

Just an FYI in case anyone is doing the soyjoy deal. I needed 2 more so today grabbed 1 apple (had never seen it before) and 1 coconut mango, but the apple did not count towards the deal. It also rang up $.97 vs $1 on sale. I returned it and got another coconut and my ECB printed out.

Quick question...(It may be a silly one.;) )

Is there any limit to how many of these we can print out? For example, can I print out 4 of the $3.00 off $15.00 and use them on separate transactions?

There is no limit although some people on other boards have reported having the computer beep if a coupon has been used multiple times on one card. I have used the same coupon ($2 off $10 in particular) a number of times and never had a problem :)

Has anyone purchased a clearance Maybelline foundation and gotten a regular priced maybelline powder free? Maybelline is buy any foundation get blush, concealer, powder free. I really need some loose powder but don't need foundation so much.

I purchased L'Oreal mascara last Saturday on 75% clearance and it rings up clearance price but still is labeled L'Oreal on the receipt (not taxable item). So I'm thinking it might work.

Thank you!:goodvibes

What does the beep mean? Does it mean that the coupon can not be used or that the transaction has to be overridden by a manager?

It worked for me last fall. There were foundations with a bonus pressed powder on clearance for $2.22 and I got full-priced bronzers and blushes with them free (had 2 coupons).
