cuttlebug and sizzxi big shot?

Are they the same size? One better than the other?

The big shot is wider and takes longer dies. The XXL ones that Sizzix sells only fit in the Big Shot or Big Kick, whatever they are calling it now.

Depends on what you want to use if for and what you prefer. I have used both and prefer the Big Shot. The cuttlebug is more compact. I've listed a few links that can explain the differences.
