Current promotion - How does it compare historically from what you've seen?

Since it's now 12/1/2022, all use years are in their 2022 use year and anyone buying direct now would receive 2022 points. 2022 dues would be prorated from the date of purchase.
I am a newbie and still have trouble quickly evaluating use years and their points. In short, is it good to buy Dec UY directly from Disney this month?

If you bought December today, you'd get December '22 points now, and the 23 points on 12/1/23.
If you bought February today, you'd get February '22 points now, and the 23 points on 2/1/23, or ten months earlier.

However, I think it's more important to get a UY that is a good match to your travel patterns than to get a good UY from the "extra points" perspective.

Thanks for the help everyone.
I ended up going with Grand Floridian direct for the entirety of the points I wanted and split the contracts 200/200.
With the promo that was going on and another incentive, I ended up being $184/point

My outlook was:
  • Best price for VGF on resale platforms was ~$168 when averaging the asking prices for 100-200 point contracts. Resale would have saved me 9.5% ($6,992)
  • While $7,000 is nothing to scoff at, I was able to bank the 400 points from this year which I otherwise wouldn't have gotten resale given current listings. I figure at $18/point renting them out, that's $7,200 alone and now I'm ahead $200 or even if I used them for a larger family trip next year it was still worthwhile.
Thanks again for all of the input!
