Cryptic Harambe Nights passholder email

This event seems like Party for the Senses at Epcot but with much less food and wine. The entertainment seems to be like what they have at party for the senses. I would have paid the premium to go to this as I love AK , food and wine. So sad I am going to miss this event. I have seen photos of weddings in Harambe village and I think this event is going to be awesome.

I have seen some wedding photos also, and I agree with you there, they looked stunning. The area is just gorgeous at night. :thumbsup2

More ala carte experiences.

While the ideas of it sound great I'm not happy that TDO continues to add on more entertainment but only if you're willing to pay for it. They are taking away more and more live entertainment only to have you paying for it separately. Why can't they do something like Disneyland's Mad T Party?

Looks very cool, many of the narrators are broadway stars who I'd love to see. Too bad the last event is the week before our trip.

Wow - just another reason I love the Disboards!!!

I was already planning on being at AK on June 14th - and was wondering what I was going to do after the park closes at 7:00 pm. I had previously scheduled a dinner rezzie at 6:40 for Tusker House - and perhaps going to Downtown Disney for some shopping…

…but Harambe Nights sounds awesome!!! I've cancelled my dinner rezzie, and just bought tickets to the June 14th event. Can't wait - it sounds pretty cool!

Thanks to all of you who shared the news with us! (I'm a pass holder, but never got the email!)

I have a friend that works in the reservations center...this is what she sent me....
Starting May 1, 2014 the DRC will be able to sell a new hard ticket event called Harambe Nights. Keep in mind, the marketing and promotional efforts will be delivered on 5/2 when George K makes the announcement during the Press Event.

This is an exclusive event for about 1000 Guests per night and it will be located in Africa only. It is designed to target our high affinity audiences looking for premium WDW experiences and who have a strong connection to the Disney brand. Guests who like Candlelight or signature Food and Wine experiences are good examples of the target audience. It is important to note the rest of the park will not be open and there will not be any rides or attractions open during the event.

Event Details:
Event title & tagline: Harambe Nights - Celebrating the grandest tales and tastes of Africa.
Dates: Saturday, June 7, 2014 – August 9, 2014 (10 event nights, Saturdays only)
General Admission Price: $119 adults / $79 child, plus tax
Floor/Premium Seating Price: $134 adult / $94 child, plus tax
Parking is FREE! for those attending this event

Notes on pricing: There are two different prices; the premium seats are considered better seating for the show only. There are about 150 of the 1000 seats that are considered premium while the rest are considered general seating. There are no other benefits other than better seats for the show.

Key Elements:

Overall Theme: Harambe Nights combines world-class theatrical entertainment alongside a sophisticated culinary experience in an
immersive setting to celebrate the story of The Lion King in a never before seen way.

Welcome Reception: From 7:00 – 7:30PM
The evening reception will start with passed, savory appetizers and African-inspired wine & beer. As Guests enter the theatre, they’ll receive a snack to enjoy during the show!

Show/Theatrical Experience: From 7:30 – 8:25PM
The centerpiece of Harambe Nights - approx 55 minute theatrical entertainment offers Guests a never-before-seen-way to experience the story of The Lion King
Lighting and scenic elements combine to re-create the immersive setting of the African Savannah.

Celebrity narrators, along with a company of performers draw the Guests into the theatricality of an African ‘story circle.’
The narrative interweaves film excerpts of select classic scenes.
The humor, heart, and stirring emotional power of the film will reach its height, as music of the film is performed by a live orchestra featuring soloists and Harambe’s very own
village choir.

Guests will experience anew Simba’s journey to ‘find his place’ as the Lion King, when scenes from the film come to life on the screen and in the theatre all around them!

Street Party / Food & Beverage: From 8:25 – 10:30PM
Harambe is transformed with special lighting and effects. African Tapas, specialty beverages and desserts are in abundance and there are F&B stations and groupings of tables for the Guests.
An African band fills the entire area with Afro-pop rhythms and a dancer encourages the Guests to participate. The band entertains throughout the evening and appears back-to-back with an African DJ, a dancer and a specialty performer. Throughout the night, the DJ provides information for the Guests.
A key to the experience is that the Guests are encouraged to GO WILD! participate, interact and join in with all the fun.
The Marketplace is expanded, offering exclusive Lion King Merchandise.
Some of your favorite Disney Characters, Specialty Stilt Walkers and Puppets appear throughout the evening (roaming, not M&G stations)

“Kiss Goodnight”: From 10:00 – 10:30PM
The evening will wrap up under the tree of life with desserts and cordials for a farewell ceremony under the stars.

Veronica, thank you for posting!!!

Sure would LOVE to do this but we won't be there until October.

We'll be there too that night  I think this sounds fabulous!! It'll be me, DH and my 17 year old DD...I asked her before hand and she said it sounded like a great way to end our trip :)

Sounds a bit pricey to me. I still miss e-ride nights, Where for $10pp you got MK nearly to yourself, including many rides.

I dunno. Adult focused events at WDW still run counter to the original WDW mission in my opinion. I get where they appeal to some, they just don't appeal to me. The world has plenty of adult venues, IMO. WDW, is almost the only place to see adults happily wearing Goofy hats!

I'd prefer to see WDW think up creative ways to get MORE adults wearing Goofy hats! (besides getting them intoxicated. ;) )

You would also think the after hours wind down at Epcot would not appeal to children, but so many people complained Disney had to change their policy after only a few days :confused3

Really? LOL. I guess that explains child ticket pricing on this!

I haven't paid much attention to the Epcot thing...isn't it essentially an opportunity to drink (more) after Epcot closes for the evening? I guess I don't get the appeal to taking kids to something like that, but to each his/her own I guess. I guess if guests want Disney to take more of their money to sit around with probably bored, cranky, tired kids, good for them!

I don't think sipping wine and tasting appetizers in an evening Harambe setting is the same as going to a college bar in Tallahassee on a Friday night. There can be events more geared toward sophisticated adults than preschoolers, and it doesn't have to be for everyone. Some people can choose to not go because it isn't for them. Others can choose to go. I'd prefer a WDW that had many options for all types.

Ok, yes, wine and beer will be served, but so will other beverages! And African inspired food to try, artists, musicians, a street party atmosphere, a special lion king show, maybe a preview of the Rivers of Light (from what people are inferring on popular disney fan site blogs ).
How is that anti-family? My almost tween DS wanted me to book us for it as soon as I mentioned hearing about it yesterday. Why does everyone assume kids only want to ride rides and eat Mac n cheese? There are families that take their kids to the real continent of Africa, and I'm sure while they're visiting villages and on safari, no one ever has to "wonder if the kids are bored ." This sounds like a WONDERFUL away for a family to spend an evening, experiencing Harambe Nights together.

TOTALLY AGREE! I am bringing my 6 and 8 year old and we are going to enjoy it... we're going June 28th! If adults get mad because they are there, that is THEIR problem, not mine, and they need to rethink their choice of Walt Disney World as their entertainment.
