Cruising, Wining, and Disney Dining - Two 2012 PTRs in One! **TR LINK UP**

Aw Palo sounds AMAZING! I love restaurants that serve souffle's - it's so fun ordering dessert first LOL. Makes you HAVE to eat dessert!

I'm sorry you got weird looks for your outfits. I guess it's not like WDW where even at the signatures you would have been dressed perfectly fine. Maybe more like V&A's?

whatever floats your boat.
:)

good update, but didnt want to take pics as you were afraid of people looking at your even more since you were not dressed up huh?

:thumbsup2

We were too distracted by the food to take pictures!

Yes, by the pitcher!! :thumbsup2 It'll be great!! I've been wanting to try my hand at my own sangria...was it still good despite its strength?

Lol, you are probably right about Garret not believing me. I'll just have to try getting him to think I'm cute for my effort!! ;)

Thanks for the spa showers info!!

Yayyyyy for getting into Palo!! What an amazing place!! I can't wait to try it out. I want to do brunch too!! :lovestruc

Sangria is a must at Via Napoli. You talked me into it. I guess I know where we're going when we take our Disney trip together ;) I enjoyed the sangria I made but I think Kris is thought it was too strong. I found a recipe that called for wine plus blackberry brandy so biting into that fruit afterward was an experience!

I've never tried the Palo brunch. I need to take a longer cruise so I can experience it!

Amazing that you got into Palo! Your meal sounded delicious.

It was amazing! So yummy!

Ooo, a nap on the balcony sounds so relaxing. At first I looked at the picture of Kris lounging really quickly and didn't realize the Cars towel was a towel. I thought Kris had really gotten into the Disney experience and bought a Cars bathing suit! :rotfl:
Mmm that Palo meal sounds heavenly! I've always wanted to try beef wellington, but no restaurant around here serves it and I'd be too afraid of messing it up if I tried to make it myself!
That picture of you guys is adorable-- I don't understand strange looks from other patrons. How does what you guys wear affect their meal-- it's not like you guys were in sweats or anything?! You looked great! :confused3

:rotfl2: He's liking Disney more & more because of my influence but I don't think I could ever talk him into a Disney inspired bathing suit. Do they even make them for adults??

Thank you! I don't understand what the big deal was either. I guess we weren't dressy enough for them? It was an older crowd so maybe that had something to do with their clothing snobbiness? :confused3

The souffle was to die for! YUM!

The dress code calls for suits or dinner jackets for guys & sundresses or pants suits for ladies. I have never owned and probably will never own a pants suit. I would never show up like that to V&A's but Palo? I don't get it. :confused3

That's awesome!! Some pixie dust on your cruise!!

Finally got caught up on everything! Wow! Scotland sounded amazing! I really want to get there within the next 3 or 4 years...I think I'll skip the haggis though

I didn't even knew DCL did short cruises like that, but it's really neat that they do! It would make for a nice little getaway, and also explains why the Magic isn't port every week, like CCL or some of the other cruise lines. I'm enjoying the updates so far though! :thumbsup2

It's hard to believe how long ago you started this PTR, and now you've only got 2 months to go (pretty much)!!! :dance3: :cheer2: It's exciting!

Scotland is a beautiful country. Except for Glasgow. Stay away from haggis! Yuck.

That was DCL's first 2 night cruise out of NYC. I think there are two more this summer. I hope they decide to sail out of NY again soon. I'd love to go on another one!

I started this PTR last July. I can't believe a whole year has gone by. It's getting so close!!!

Hi everyone! Stuck at work on this gloomy Saturday. I'm happy today will be a rainy day and tomorrow is supposed to be nice. I hate when it's the other way around. Since one of my co-workers quit, I don't have a Saturday off until September. :( Bummer.

Still no F&W booth information? Really Disney?

Time to finish up the cruise TR!

I forgot to post a picture I took of the sunset after dinner.

After our delcious meal at Palo, Kris and I headed over to the Walt Disney theatre to see Dreams. Kris wasn't really impressed with the Villains show and I don't think he really wanted to see this because of it. I assured him this show was way better and it's my favorite so we HAD to see it. Of course the sound blew out during the first 10 minutes of the show & there was a delay while they tried to fix it. :headache: After that the show went smoothly. Have any of you ever seen Dreams? It's hands down the best show on the fleet. I love it! For those of you who don't know it's about a girl named AnneMarie who is visited by the Blue Fairy who gives her until midnight to believe in her dreams. She's then visited by Peter Pan and they go through a journey of "Genies, Princesses, and Kings." There are great numbers featuring Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Cinderella. I absolutely love it!

A self pic in the theatre waiting for the show to start.

After Dreams, we headed over to Beat Street for a juggling show at Rockin Bar D. I forget the guys name but he was on America's Got Talent. Apparently he made it pretty far. He had this one bit where he was in a glow in the dark suit while he juggled and I managed to snap a few pictures of that. He was pretty entertaining overall.

After the show we stuck around for the One Hit Wonders party. The CMs were dressed like 80s stars. The main CM was dressed as Janet Jackson and I'm pretty sure another girl was Tiffany. The guys were 80s hair band rockers. They played songs and you had to name the title & artist. It was guys vs girls and the girls kicked butt! We had a few drinks & then headed up to the pool deck for some ice cream & watched a little bit of the movie playing on Funnelvision.

On the way to the top deck, I stopped for a photo op.

It was pretty late at this point & we had to be up early to disembark so sadly, we headed back to our room. I'd miss seeing the animal towels every night. Tonight was stingray.

600508_10150872634602944_655625735_n.jpg

We fell asleep quickly and before we knew it, it was morning. We gathered up our things and headed down to breakfast in Parrot Cay. They call you off the ship by color & we had Red Mickey. By the time we were done with breakfast, they had called our color. We left the ship, found our luggage (they collect it the night before), got in the car, and made it home quickly.

Bye Disney Magic!

And that does it for our cruise. I loved every minute of it but two nights is not enough. Kris and I are talking about taking a longer cruise next year. Not sure if it will be on DCL or not but it's definitely something we want to do.

Now that the cruise TR is over it's time to concentrate on our Disney World trip again. Only 64 days to go! Can you believe it?? It's almost here!! :yay:

Have a good weekend!

Yeah for Palo!! Sounds amazing!!!

Sorry you are having to work every Saturday. Hopefully they will hire someone else so you can get some time off!!

Hi there! It's been forever since I have had a chance to post on here but have been lurking. So glad to hear you enjoyed the cruise. Your pictures were awesome. It looks like you had a lot of fun and had some great relaxation time. You have me even more excited for our cruise in Jan now on the Magic. Since this is probably fresh on your mind, were the pools salt water or fresh water? I know most cruise lines do salt water so was curious if Disney was the same. I know I need to do some more research because I had no clue you could bring alcohol on board the ship. Usually it's just wine and you are limited. We usually don't mind paying the prices for the drinks because we usually only have one or two a day at most.

I need to go catch up with the rest of your trip report as I'm sure there is a lot I have missed.

Palo really was excellent. I need to go back!

I hope so. I am not looking forward to working every Saturday in August!

Hi! The cruise was so much fun and that was just a 2 nighter! The pools are fresh water and they are heated if it's cool outside. It's much nicer than the salt water pools. The first time I went on a cruise I jumped in the water not knowing it was salt water & was completely freaked out LOL. Yes you can bring alcohol/beer/wine on the ship as long as it's in a carry on. Technically you're not supposed to have it in the public areas but we had it in a water bottle on the pool deck. ;)

Great DCL TR :thumbsup2

Also, in case you haven't heard yet, more F&W info was released!!! They have all the menus up and on the Disney Food Blog they also have lots of pictures of last year's food and booths, that will get you even more in the mood for the festival (in case you weren't already ). Here's the URL for both pages:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/pa...rnational-food-and-wine-festival/marketplace/

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/...and-wine-festival-boothkiosk-menus-announced/

Thanks!!! I have to check them out! I can't wait for F&W Fest! In 2010 we only spent one day at the festival and this year we're planning to spend a LOT of time in Epcot. I'm so excited!

Hi everyone! Just a quick shopping/Disney fund update. It's the end of the month so I cashed out on MySurvey, I-Say, and Sunshine Rewards for a grand total of $61.18. I'm around the $565 mark. My goal is $1000 by trip time. I hope I can do it. I'd already be there if it weren't for a $400+ doctor's bill. Ugh. Oh well, it had to be paid!

Kris and I went to the mall on Saturday & I picked up a few things at Old Navy. I also ordered a few things from Victoria's Secret's catalog.

From VS:

I've already worn the shirt to the left and I love it. The shirt to the right is off the shoulder & kind of cropped so I may have to wear a tank top underneath while we're in Disney.

Everything was on sale plus I had a 25% off coupon so I got all three things for $21! Not bad.

Has anyone been watching the Olympics? I'm obsessed. I watch every night. I did the same thing with the 2008 Olympics. I watch swimming & gymnastics non stop and then my interest kind of fades once track & field starts. The gymnastics arena - OMGosh what an eyesore! What were they thinking when that was okay-ed? The men's team completely fell apart last night and I'm hoping the women's team fares better. I was impressed with the GB team - great for them to get a medal but I felt bad that they thought they had the silver until Japan contested their score. The poor Ukranians got the shaft. As for swimming, I remember it being all about Michael Phelps in 2008 so I was shocked not to see him medal in a race. Lochte too since he's supposed to be the golden child. Looks like Missy Franklin is going to steal the show!

Told you I was obsessed ;)

Hope everyone is having a good week. 61 days til Disney!!

The men's team did fall apart! Watching the women right now. Of course I know the outcome but it's pretty interesting. The one poor Russian completely went off the mat during the vault. But, her score wasnt as bad as I thought it would be for something like that. Yea...a little obsessed here too

I have not been watching the Olympics... I normally would be, but since I am so out of the habit of watching TV since dropping cable, I never think of it!

Love the shopping loot! I want new stuff but I hate actually going to the store to get it. LOL; I am not wired correctly for a girl, I think!

LOVE your new stuff! And even better on sale! :thumbsup2 There are a few consignment shops down here that I need to hit up. One of my friends went to one and got a Coach purse (real, I looked, hehe!) for $35!!!

We've watched a bit of the Olympics here and there. Of course J always has it on the events I don't know much about. Water polo, fencing, etc. Although the water polo looked pretty intense! I mean, those people are in the deep end of the pool and able to throw a ball! Guess I'm easily impressed.

I'm sure you'll get back to your $$ goal! Just keep up with those awesome and fun surveys! :lmao:

I was happy the US pulled out the win. Of course it made it much easier on them knowing the Russians fell apart on their floor routines. That one girl on the US team just had to vault and she got a gold medal! She let everyone else do the work LOL.

I hate going to stores. I usually order things online from stores I already have clothes from so I know they'll fit. I do all my Christmas shopping online because I hate dealing with crowds in the stores!

cute clothes...great deals!! I like that tank on the left! Cute!!

Thanks!

I can't get into the sports they show during the day. Why is it that cycling is always on?? I'm hooked on gymnastics, diving, and swimming. I'm not sure why I bother to watch diving though because the Chinese ALWAYS win. The thing that bothers me the most about the Olympics is Ryan Seacrest. :rotfl: Why does that man have to be everywhere??

I keep plugging away at those surveys! I almost have enough for another $10 on I-Say!

Nooooooo how is your cruise over already?! Oh well, you will be in Disney SO SOON!! YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

Your new clothes are cute. I love them. Random clothes question: Do you own any like Disney character clothing?? I do, but I never wear any to the parks. :confused3 I prefer looking really cute in the parks and am more likely to wear my Disney shirts at home running errands or something because I don't need to wear the cute, cropped, off the shoulder types for that!! :rotfl: Even still...I don't have many character shirts. I do prefer the more hidden kind...like that one dress every one loved. ANYWHO...tangent over.

Hooray for USA in the Olympics! :cheer2: I love watching them too. Gymnastics is the best, and I'm also a nerd and love synchronized swimming. Haven't seen that yet though. (Synchro-diving though...no. Diving bores me lol) I think I like the swimming because its so amazing that they can do flips and dives and actually pretty athletic stuff while holding their breath half the time! :cool1: Water stuff is usually the best. I saw kayaking or something the other day and it looked pretty intense. :rotfl2: Phelps is disappointing this year. Lochte is awesome because he's hot and doing well. And in women's, Missy Franklin is awesome because a.) she has a gold medal (singular so far, I believe.) and b.) she's from my area. And that's awesome in itself but also awesome that we finally are hitting headlines with good news and not wildfires and shooting tragedies. :flower3:

59 days to go!

I have some character stuff. That dress obviously, a Mickey spiderweb shirt that I'm planning on wearing to MNSSHP, and another tshirt with Mickey on it. I also have a Grumpy/Sleepy and Disney Nerds nightshirt. I wear those all the time but usually only wear my other stuff when I'm in the parks or on vacation. I also have Mickey sandals! And Jack Sparrow flip flops. Man I have a lot more than I thought I did.

Do you live near where the shootings took place? Anytime I see anything about CO I think of you.

I fell asleep during gymnastics last night! I found out the guy won the bronze though. I'll defintely be watching the women's all around tonight. The Olympics have consumed my nights!

59 days to go! I'll be in Disney World next month!! The very last day of the month but still NEXT MONTH!

I posted this on the FB group but I might as well post it here too. I applied for the Disney Visa a couple days ago and got approved. :cheer2: I've always wanted one! Do any of you have it? I know one of the big perks is if you charge a Disney vacation to it you get 6 months no interest which was a big selling point. I go to Disney enough where that's a definite perk. I also like that you get the special meet & greet with the characters in Epcot & the free photo. Soooo..where exactly is that in Epcot? :rotfl:

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
