I tried to answer this earlier but with how slow the DIS is going it timed out. I would agree with everyone else here. Even though it was 10 years ago that we took our cruise on the Disney Wonder we really didn't have any problem with kids.
We do the second seating for dinner, the places we hang out are the spa, the adult pool, the lounges, Palo, etc so we don't run into the kids so much. At Castaway Cay we had lunch at the adult beach before we went parasailing and barely saw any kids all day, except maybe when we were snorkeling in the morning.
I have been reading a lot of Mexican Riviera TRs (even familes, not just couples) and from what it sounds like, their kids are dying to go back to the Club and the Lab. Some of the families, one of the parents would take a break during dinner to drop the kids off at the club, and the parents enjoyed the remainder of their dinners child free. Disney does a GREAT job keeping the kids entertained. The places are themed like Andy's Room and they can play in giant toys designed after awesome Disney cartoons, so what kid would want to be sitting in a restaurant or lounge? They have their own pool. The pictures of that pool look like a total zoo, but I've heard that people with kids under 18 are quickly and quietly escorted from the Adult pool if they try to look like they want to stay.
I'm crossing my fingers for the next Disney Cruise. I've been reading the Navigators and it looks like we'll have a great time even without the excursions. There's so much to do, and most of this is all in the "without kids" activities!
You're not late, it's less than 24 hours since starting![]()
I totally agree with the other comments. We never felt overwhelmed by the amount of kids. And if you don't want to see any there are places they're not allowed to go where you can escape. The only time we were overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people, was at the Family Beach where we wanted to do some snorkling, but they have the adults only beach, Serenity Bay, which is a slice of Heaven. Even on the sea day we never felt overwhelmed with kids, and this was a sold out sailing with 4000 guests. We also did the late seating where we were paired with adults, who I will later describe in more detail, but they were perfect dining companions.
I think you should absolutely try DCL at least once to see how it compares. I felt like the CMs were even a step above the ones at the parks, they were all so fabulous. I have tons more photos and will share our experiences in length so hopefully I can sway you a little![]()
Wow - that is some seriously yummy looking pasta!
Thanks for all the detail pictures! I enjoy really seeing the way things flow together.
Lovely artwork. Ahhhh - such great details!
More great updatesI am loving all of the pictures so far. Cabanas looks so tropical and pretty and I agree with you about the special Disney touches in the theming. When I went on my previous DCL cruise on the wonder, it was a bad time of year for illness (colds, flus, etc.) and we were amazed at the DCL staff and how well they cleaned. If someone touched a handrail, there was a CM there to wipe it down after they left - the ship was spotless the entire cruise! I am glad to read in your TR that they have kept this up!
Great start on your TRCan't wait for more updates!
Looks like I did something funky with photobucket so I'm going to try and figure it out and fix all the pictures that aren't there now. Last night everything was there so I'm confused at what happened.
I am so mad at myself. I totally messed up a bunch of the links between photobucket and my pictures so I had to redo them all. I had moved them into another folder after posting them on here. Ugh! Hours wasted. They're all fixed now. Sorry if anybody had a problem viewing.
I was going to say to the first quote, make sure you didn't make any new folders or move the images. I made that mistake on my first TR too!But there are still a few that are not showing up. You may have to edit the posts and repaste the image link.
I am enjoying reading your TR, although it is making me miss it and wish I was there! We went in July and the looking at your pics makes it feel like I'm there! I showed DS13 and he misses the Dream too! Looking forward to reading more and seeing more pics!
Great start! Glad to see that you have been on your first cruise! DH and I are taking our second one in July. Leaving the kids with my mom. I can't wait. Looking forward to reading more.
Hi! Good to see you againthanks for coming over. I meant to ask on your TR, is your DH softening on the resister front? Looks like it since he's going again. Im so glad
The cruise was more amazing than I ever imagined. I know why people go back to Disney, everything is just so fabulous!
Yes he is becoming soft. We looked at other lines for our next cruise, but he wants to stick with Disney. I have absolutely no problem with that
I also managed to work in a trip to Disney World in May. I told him that we would take DD for her birthday. He said that he knew that I would get the kids to Disney before we left(some how, some way)I told him that he could stay in the room while we went to the parks and look on his face was priceless, followed by you are leaving me in the room!
