Cruise 10/11/2003

hopelea..have your kids join the kids list and join in the fun--alot of the kids have already started emailing each other--could it be that I am passing this addition on to my DD?? Wish Sarah was out on break the week that we are going--she will miss 4 days of school due to Columbus Day Holiday and I may pull her out for one additonal day for a total of five. Only problem is, is that our school district only allows a total of 10 days absence due to any reasons (they don't encourage school year vacations) and if you exceed the number of days, you receive a letter from the magistrate and if you get to 15 days you run the risk of jail time (seems to me that they should go after real criminals)--received a letter two years ago because Sarah was at 10 days and had to have it notarized, etc. They are trying to go after the parents of truant kids and unfortunately we all suffer. Sarah is an honor roll student and gives them absoultely no trouble and I try to play the "travel is education" card but it doesn't fly!! Sarah has been to alot of the places that they go over in the Social Studies classes including Alaska, Hawaii, pueblos of New Mexico, etc (thanks to DVC, we're able to do this!) which I think is more important than just reading about it in books. JMHO!!

Sarahsmom.........That is really too strict! I believe if my girls miss school more than 5 days in a row I will get a letter, but I know they don't put us in jail. There is a girl in my oldest dd's class that has missed around 20 days. Mine on the other hand haven't missed a day in two years. That will change for this cruise. My parents always took me out of school for traveling. It was wonderful and should be done!!

They would love to join the kids list, but me being the newbie that I am.....don't know who they contact!

Better go for now........have laundry to do and must take youngest dd to the ped this afternoon.

bette...we are located two hours north of Lancaster--you would travel right past our exit on Route 81--Lancaster is one of my favorite places to visit and spend the weekend. Are you headed down there anytime soon? Great quilt and craft shops--we love to travel the back roads and see the Amish and several of them have shops in their homes (one we used to stop at makes handmade/quality doll furniture for American Girl dolls)--let me know if you're headed that way! For you, I don't know how you would travel from NH but I'm assuming you might eventually end up on I-84 through Connecticut and NY state--we are located about one hour from Port Jervis, NY.

Doug...okwmiester--did do the Alaska vacation--21 days in both Alaska and Washington state--the trip of a lifetime!! IMHO, the most beautiful state in the union!!

Our menagerie has grown over the weekend by adding a guinea pig for Josh. A real cute little girl just over 4 weeks old. He named her Samantha and calls her Sammie.

Hopkins........I don't think we will do the hunt this time. I am not really sure what we will do there yet. I ordered my passporter last week. I am going to check it out first. We have never been to the Keys. I need to do some research. I feel like I am going on this cruise blind and I don't want to miss anything. Does that make sense?

I am sure you will have a great time and I look forward to hearing all about it.

We're already in the 50ies, but it's overcast. From Thursday on a high pressure system will arrive and hopefully we'll have fair weather on sunday when I run the halfmarathon.

Rosemary ... How is Ollie doing. Is he a "bucket head" to keep him from ripping open his stitches again? AshLee says woof BUT I told her to say it quietly so as not to scare the kitty.

Did a whole bunch of laundry over the weekend and never ended up on the puter .... well let me tell you, don't stay away for more than 8 hours or you have 3 pages to read.

The fluctuation in the temperature is giving me a sinus headache and seems the rest of the office. BOY I hope we aren't passing something around again.
