MaryJo:

What a coincidence! I can't wait to tell Christy...We really enjoyed that time at Vero with you and your family. Cori, who is turing 15 in September) will be excited to hear that she will be seeing Sarah again. I remember you were planning the Alaska cruise back then. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip (we really want to hear about it since that is on the horizon in our future.

Thanks for getting back to me, I think it has been about 4 or 5 years??

Matty204: I better start following this thread a bit closer so I can get better aquainted with fellow cruisers (especially those from Minnesota) Last year I spent half my time on the cruise in ESPN watching the Twins in the playoffs (until that frustrating 10 run inning against Anaheim). This summer we will be in Rochester for several Soccer Tournaments for both Cori and Connor.

Doug

Running short on time here, but I wanted to welcome all the new people to our group! I know there have been some lately, probably pages and pages ago. Just jump right in!

Jean-- Good to see you posting! This is our first ever cruise too and we're also doing the scavenger hunt. I think it will be fun. It's really cold here too... 6º last time I checked. The sun is shining to give us the illusion of warmth though. ;)

Kathy-- Our granddaughter, Becca--13 months, is also not a big breakfast eater even if she doesn't have a bottle in the a.m. One day she'll just love scrambled eggs or waffles and then the next day I catch her feeding them to the dog.... just ever so cautiously slipping pieces off the edge of the high chair tray. Good luck!

Need to run. Got laundry going, Becca's here today and a guy coming to install two new storm doors and inside front door.

Welcome back to all our weekend travellers. Glad everyone is home safe and sound.

Colleen

Coleen,

I've added Mandy "officially" to the list. I knew she'd want to go. How was Josh's birthday? Any Disney surprises?

Tina

Tina-- Josh's b'day went great! Had a delicious dinner at Chi-Chi's on Saturday night. They sang to him, brought him ice cream and a big Chi-Chi's sombrero. Then, Sunday afternoon was his party. Lots of fun.
Disney stuff?... but of course!! We got him the Disney Wonderful World of Music game... fun!! Also, the Mickey and Crew Print Studio and the Lilo and Stitch Pinball Game cd/rom's. We had picked up the cd/roms at World of Disney in January when we were down there. Love that store!!

I had figured Mandy would want to do the hunt too. We'll have a blast!

Colleen

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that. We will be sending our checks AND a self-addressed stamped envelope (so the checks can be returned if we miss Key West) to the following address:
The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040
DO NOT SEND CHECKS, YET!

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Tina :bounce:

Welcome Jean. It's our first cruise too and we are so looking forward to it.

Today of course it could be because it's so cold here. There was a record low temperature at the Toronto airport -- -25C and it's even colder with the windchill factor. The sun is out though so it's bright and very cold. It was quite nice on the weekend and then starting yesterday afternoon it started to get cold. Everything was melting and now it's all frozen. We have lots of icicles hanging down around the eaves at the moment. It's March though and it can't last much longer I hope.

Fiona

I am so excited!! It is our 1st Disney cruise too! I don't know how I will be able to make it through the next 221 days. My dd is already tired of hearing all the plans I am making! He thinks it is silly to be planning so far ahead.

Do you think there will be a fair amount of children on this cruise. I saw that someone was putting together a list of the kids. My DD's would love to be included in that list. It just occured to me that most schools will be in session during that time. My DD's will be on their fall break that week.

I am thinking of booking a room at the raddisson for the 10th. How far in advance should i book it??

Thanks in advance for all of your help!!

:Pinkbounc (this is me bouncing around the house I am so excited!)

Hope

ripp..(aka Jean) Welcome to our addiction!! I saw your post last night (the other post) and thought that your name sounded familiar! So glad that you could join us. It was single digits here today (5 degrees) and the sun is shining brightly but it is still freezing out (only supposed to reach a high of 20 degrees)--way to cold for me--bring on the cruise and nice warm weather!! Tomorrow is supposed to be just as cold!!

padisneyfan hope you had a safe trip to IUP and since it is so cold today, figured you couldn't find the groundhog!!

Everyone must be very busy at work today--today I am tackling my mounds of filing!! Have a great day and WELCOME, Jean!! Mary Jo

Hope,

Our very own @goofynut (Cathy) has talked to the Radisson and got us a group rate! Just call them and get the "cruistoberfest" rate! $89+tax. I would make a reservation ASAP with the amount of cruise now offered through Port Canaveral, it might book up fast.

Hope this helps.

Dan

:bounce: :bounce: RADISSON "CRUISETOBERFEST" RATE...
I contacted the Radisson at the Port (Canaveral) and it's $89 for a single room and $109 (I think) for a 2 room suite. I asked them to set aside 10 room for us under CRUISETOBERFEST. If we need more, let me know and I'll get back with my contact and get us more reserved. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SAY THE CODE IS :bounce: CRUISETOBERFEST:bounce: If they can't find it on the 1-800 reservation #, just insist that they check directly with the Radisson at Port Canaveral.

HEY, sounds like we are in for a really nice MEET at the Radisson before the cruise too.

Gotta get back to work and if I can, catch up on the 8 pages you guys had over the weekend (when I was up to my elbows in laundry, etc)
