OOPS, that linking with the insurance sounds tough. This wouldn't be possible here, as we have very strict laws protecting your data. But motorists also have mandatory school or have to do first-aid-training when they reach certain limits. Or you can swipe away points by doing voluntary schooling.
Insurance premiums are calculated according to your driving time without accidents. As a beginner you usually start with 275% of the standard premium, and then with every year without causing an accident you lose percentage. I pay 35% of the standard premium and will be further downgraded to 30% -which is the lowest- next year. This means I have never caused an accident for the last 18 years. To be honest I have never caused an accident, but switched insurance companies in between and lost some years. This doesn't simply mean that I'm a good driver, but that all the other motorists also took good care of me and that I was very lucky. ;)
If you cause an accident you are downgraded heavily.

Here in Ontario we have a point system too -- if you lose 15 points your license is automatically suspended for 30 days I think. We also have a probationary license period for new drivers for 2 years. If a new driver loses 9 points their license gets suspended for 30 days and they have to start the probationary period all over again. New drivers are also restricted in that they can't drive between midnight and I think it's 5am and they can't drive on the highways.

We saw the movie "How to lose a guy in 10 days" this past Tuesday and thought it was really funny.

Must go and change the laundry.

Sounds very similar to our system, we also have that 2 years probation time. Right now politicians are discussing to allow driving under supervision of an adult for 17-year-old. You must be 18 to drive a car over here.

Geez you folks. It is impossible to keep up with this topic if you are not doing it full time. I wasn't lurking for a few days and the list of page numbers to read went off the screen.

I did see a post wondering if we were still alive, so I thought I better at least sneek one post in here. We are doing well, just been busy with non-sense. Nothing exciting like all the other posts on the board here.

Tuli, glad to hear your cat is on the mend. We all become very attached to our four legged friends.

I'll be sure to post again in the next few thousand posts out there. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Hope to catch some of you on chat some time too.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Patronis90..I have sent you my kids info. I also included their pets names and their e-mail address. They do not check their e-mail too often so maybe you could post something on the board when you send a list so they will know to check their mail??

I think this will be great fun for the kids in the group!!Thanks for doing this!

Cheese, nice to see you posting.

Eric, got the list. Thanks! Any guess as to how many we will wind up with??

I just looked at the Bruce Springsteen concert schedule. The closest concert to me is in Jacksonvill Fl (4 hours away) and it is on a Tuesday night. I would consider it if it was on a Sat night, but for a Tues. I would have to use 2 vacation days!
I have seen him in concert 2X. Once on Long Island and once in Mobil Alabama. His shows are the BEST!

Our chat this morning was a lot of fun!

Dan, I hope your sis gets it together and books the cruise, but, as they say....you can lead a horse to water.......!!!!

The fine for speeding in a construction zone here in Tennessee is $500.00 dollars. A DUI conviction is an automatic 48 hours in Jail. They allow you to-serve it on the weekends so that you don't loose you Monday through Friday job. 2nd Dui offense is loss of license for six months. 3rd conviction and they can confiscated your automobile. It still doesn't stop a lot of people. Here your speeding tickets are reported to the state and are part of your mvr(motor vehicle report) that is available to all the insurance companies.

Windermere--do you go to the Philadelphia Flower Show--we have gone two years in a row but last year we went on a weekend which was a big mistake--way too crowded--our local tv station just had a preview of this years show and it looks pretty interesting. We left last years show in the afternoon and Sarah and I went to the Liberty Bell and Betsy Ross House--it was a gorgeous day and great for walking around Philly!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 days was a real cute movie and Matthew McCoughney (sp?) wasn't too hard to look at either!!

CALLING ALL KIDS---Contact TwinAve's daughter, Mary and give her your information--our 12 & 13 year old daughter's have already connected and have been e-mailing each other. I thought that I saw on the list a 14 year old (okwmeister). This way you will know someone before you even get on the ship.

I actually think that we met okwmeister several years ago at DVC Vero Beach and we went out to dinner together at a beachfront restaurant--lost their address so we lost contact. If I remember correctly, they lived by the Mall of America.

The Bruce Springsteen Concert was Great! Just LOVE that guy and his E-Street Band.:p I tried to record it but my VCR messed up. Anyone out there get it on tape? Will gladly pay for a copy.
I know I got tagged, but I thought I fixed my sig line. Oh well.
Daughter Mary is very excited about working on the Kid List. She has heard from several kids and will be posting a list very soon.
Hopkins, the hunt is sounding better and better. Mickey Ears! I love it! Thanks for all your hard work.
Lazy weekend for us, lots of rain, so no outdoor activities. Kids are bouncing off the walls. ;)
Welcome to all our Newbies! Don't worry about us, we're harmless, just jump right in.:D
Later, Ave'

Dave = Nice to see you posting. Just finished going through the thread with Tulirich (great way to spend our Saturday night ;) ).

Enjoyed chatting with you guys today. Sorry you all didn't make it. Windy - You never responded when we were leaving. I guess you got busy doing things. I can relate to that.

Dan - Gotta go searching for my Disney Ressie number. Do you really need everyones? Since I am already linked with others who sent you theirs? Okay, okay! I'll stop bellyaching and start looking. (Where did I put that number?

Also, still gotta call Radisson to reconfirm my Cruisetoberfest rate.

I gotta get better organized.

Have a great weekend

Oops - P.S. - Mike/Kathy = Loved the Elton John photo!! :jester:

Glad that you enjoyed it Rosemary. Good to see Rich posting.

Kathy and I are looking at a Subaru Forester for our next car. We live on a big hill and need the all wheel drive to get up the driveway and around this area as Nashville and Tennessee in particular are quite hilly. Looked at the hybrids, but they just didn't have enough room in them for all of our junk. Our VW has spoiled us for leather seats with heaters in them now. The old posteriors don't warm up in the cool weather like they used to.

Hi  Dave and Ellen. Good to see you posting also. Mike

Cathy and Art, hope that you guys are doing well this weekend and that you both are enjoying your time off.

Mary I am with Rich on the husband with 13 kids he is only disabled in the head. Being a family board I can't say which one he is thinking w**h. She needs lessons from L Bobbitt.

Mary Jo watch out for our new state mascot's(the orange and white construction barrels) along the highways.

Oh anyone traveling I-24 east or west this summer as there will be long delays during the bonnaroo festival again this year. Mike

Mike...we actually were in Tennessee last year--stayed right in Gatlinburg at a timeshare in town..hadn't been there in years and couldn't believe how commercialized it had become--went over to Pidgeon Forge to Dollywood on a Friday night and couldn't get out of there--they were having a car rally or something down the main (and I presume only) drag back to Gatlinburg. Also drove to Chattanooga. We were going to drive to Nashville because I was going to take Sarah to the Hermitage (she gets mad because I try to throw a little history into every trip!) but we never made it there because I thought the drive would be a little far. Last time (before this past summer) that we were in Tennessee was for the World's Fair in Knoxville and that had to have been in the early 80's. We did Knoxville, Chattanooga; Nashville and Memphis--did we put alot of miles on our car!! Drive isn't bad--right down I-81. This time we are going to Branson, MO and then flying into Nashville and spending a week and then flying home--think we leave for Branson on the 28th for a week and then Nashville for a week. Only problem is that JCAHO (hospital accreditation) is coming to work this summer and I just hope that it isn't going to be these two weeks--oh well, my tickets are already bought!! Have a great evening--its already Sunday here!! Got to go so I can get up for mass.

Mary Jo I know what you mean about the miles. Tennessee is only about 110 to 120miles wide, but it is 424 miles long: from the mississippi river at memphis to the virginia border at bristol.

The Hermitage(home of Andrew Jackson) used to have some beautiful 200 year old cedar trees lining the driveway until the tornadoes in 1998 wiped most of them out.

Have to close it down now and get some sleep. Mike

Hey,
this is Mary, Twinave's daughter. Parents I want you to know I'm doing a kids list. Send the following info to Patronis90@aol.com: name, age, b-day, grade, and hobbies. Thanks!

Hi Mary,
from Listkeeper to Listkeeper I'd like to welcome you and thank you for taking over the job. If you need any help feel free to ask me anytime.

Eric

Papa,

We had 2002 Subaru Forester. Just traded it for a 2003 outback. The difference is remarkable. The outback has a much more comfortable ride, is finished nicer and is about the same amount of money. It is my wife's car and you could not get her back in a Forester even though until we got the outback she liked the Forester.

We live at the top a large hill as well. While we have had limited snow the last couple of years neither Subaru has had any trouble in the snow. They seem to handle it as well as my 4x4 Suburban.

Matt I have had back surgery and when I try to get in an outback, I hit my head on the door jam. I can get in and out of the forrester fine. Don't ask me why. We have a VW TDI new beetle and it is a little crowded what with the granddaughters car seat and such. Oh and by the way Eric we had a 1972 VW beetle and we loved it back in the 70's, but then the children started arriving and we had to get something bigger.

Let's hope that with all of the scavenger hunters and their carts, that it doesn't turn into cannonball run in Key West. Mike

I wish that Shari would come back on the thread I know why she is not at this time, but we all miss her.

Cathy I need to look up the Disney Magazine to submit my hidden Mickey picture. Mike
