Ave - Did you see??? You've been **ZAPPED** by the Tag Fairy for not complying to the new regulations!!! Bad girl you is!!! hee hee hee Eric was zapped earlier today too!

Hey hey....

The trolley or train won't really cover the same areas we do with the hunt. That's more of a guided-sit-in-your-seat, don't-move-and- listen- kind of tour. The hunt will still cover the major points of interest and some "off the wall" places. There's even a twist or two! You'll go via Hemingways' house and can do the tour if you want to...but you may lose precious time...and pinky could be snatched up!

Key West is really easy to get around and we won't have you going too far (unless of course you want the bonus points!) But then again you can always bribe the judges!!

If you really want to do the trolley or train...you can always do it after the hunt...there's tours going non stop all day long....

Now...what to drink...a Rum Runner anyone??

That's what I was wondering about. See, we WANT to do Hemingway's house and there will really be no time AFTER the hunt because the house closes at 5 if I remember from the website correctly and the hunt ends at 4.

And ending at 4.... that's total time, hunt over and awards given out? The ceremony doesn't start at 4 - right? And then, of course, once the awards are awarded, then the partying begins. Of course, some may start before and during hunt too. LOL!!!

Just finished watching Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band!
Meet me at Mary's Place, there's gonna be a PARTY!!!!GREAT SONG!

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If we miss Key West, the checks will be refunded. I'll provide an address and more info on this in July so we can mail our checks to them.

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too. At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Tina :)

Told my husband about the scavenger hunt in Key West (he never cares what we do, he just shows up and pays the bill!) but he told me to warn papa, Eric and Dan that he is a speed demon and was stopped for speeding in the Petrified Forest in Arizona (where all that is there is dead wood!!) Caught going 65 in a 35 mile "forest"! It was only quick thinking on my part that got him out of the ticket (a friend of ours was in law enforcement at the Petrified Forest and had already transferred out of there when we got there (wonder if he knew we were coming) and I name dropped and voila--no ticket!!

Mary Jo,
don't forget that I live in the country of the Autobahn. So what you call speeding I call crawling :jester:

That would be neat to meet Amy -- really like Trading Spaces and While You Were Out although I have to admit I wouldn't want some of the rooms in my house. I like Amy, Ty and think that Frank is really funny.

Dan I'll send you the reservation number as soon as I find it.

Fiona

I just called my friend who is a part-time cast member at Walt Disney World, and she is getting us a pair of Mickey Ear and getting them sewn with the name "Pinky" on the back for the Scavenger Hunt.

I can't wait!

To all:

I'm sorry for the confusion with the dinner reservations, I will need your Disney reservation number, not the DREAMS number.

Thanks
Dan

Viking,

I have a wish that they close down an airport runway just for me, so I can take my car up to incredible speeds. Maybe, I should just go to Germany and see hubby's mother land. LOL! It must be nice to have such a roadway. I bet certain cars can't handle those speeds. They start rattling and shaking! I'm sure it has to be a quality car.

Ave, I think it would be really cool if DD will do the kids list. Maybe she could have info like:
e-mail address

Age/birthday
Grade
favorite TV show/music
pets
# of cruises/fav things to do on the ship
other intrests/scouts, scoccer, fishing, ect..

I think it would help the kids get to know one another before the cruise and maybe even e-mail each other.

She could use Eric's format and change it to suit her.
Let us know if she will do this and what info she wants and I will send (or have the kids do it) the needed info!

OK everyone...it is now March, another month gone!

32 weeks to go!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Viking...Sam would fit right in in Germany--although he has slowed down some since he got a speeding ticket in interstate 81 not far from our house--he was going 87 in a 55 mile zone and a very nice PA State Policeman pulled him over--he was driving my car at the time and he very conveniently "forgot" to tell me that he got the speeding ticket and points. He went to the credit union and took out the money and paid it in cash so that there would be no paper trail!! What he didn't plan on was that the PA Department of Motor Vehicles sends you a copy of the ticket in the mail and the day that the ticket came in the mail, Sam happened to be on 2nd shift and the mail didn't come before he left for work so guess who discovered that he got the ticket--I was so mad at him that he didn't tell me but his excuse was that he forgot to tell me--had a fine of about $170.00 plus 4 points on his license!! So he has slowed down some!!

Tried to get into chat last night but had no luck. Didn't try today because I just got up!!

Ave' --if Mary needs any help, just let Sarah know and she can help out.

Going out for breakfast with Sarah and then going to the movies to see "How to lose a guy in 10 days" (Sam is sleeping because this week he is on 3rd shift--he works all three shifts and switches every 7 days! so we try to leave the house nice and quiet so he can sleep!!) Talk to everyone later!!

RellingTwin..just saw where the boss is coming to New Jersey's Meadowlands (where the NY giants play)--maybe now you'll consider a PA meet!! Gotta love Bruce!

We spend weekends watching Trading Spaces and While you were out. Frank was at the Philly Home show last month. We think we would want Vern to do our house and work with Doug on the neighbor's house. I think Doug is a hoot.

Anyone get the BBC channel? It's funny to watch their version of TS. Only a half hour long but interesting to see a totally different way of life.

How many points can you have before they pull your license?
BTW, in Germany he would have his license suspended for four weeks for that offense. If you're more than 19 mph (30kmh) faster than posted you're dead meat ;) The same for running a red light.
I also like to drive fast, but in 22 years I haven't scored any points so far and had a total of about $250 in tickets.
In Germany you lose your license for some years when you reach or exceed 18 points. You get 3 - 4 for a red light, upt to 5 for speeding, 3 for passing on the right on the autobahn, etc.
Radar detecots are strictly prohibited, just having one in the car will cost you big bucks and score 3 points. The police have to proof you misdeeds by photo or video. I think about 300.000 licenses are cancelled every year. Main reasons are drinking and speeding. When your license is revoked you have to aquire it new as soon as a judge allows it, which may be some years. Additionally you have to pass a psychological examination, which will also cost you big time, it's called the "Jerk-Test" :p The usual cost to get your license back are in the range of 3000 to 5000$

sarah's mom,

The girls sent off a note alast night to your DD.

Matty204..Sarah got the email and she will be responding today!! Thanks.

Viking...I think if you get 6 or 8 points than you have to go to school (I'm not sure but I don't think they suspend your license) and then if your insurance company finds out for some reason (of course you don't make a point of telling them!!) or you go to switch insurance companies, then your insurance increases dramatically. They can also double the speeding fines if caught speeding in a construction zone or you can have additional money added to the ticket for not wearing your seatbelt. PA just started a new law that whenever you drive through a construction zone, you have to have your headlights on. The exit we get off at has been under construction for about 3 years--they are making several new exits because we have a major ski resort there (big name concerts in the summer) plus a 20 screen movie theater and a baseball stadium (we have the farm team for the Philadelphia Phillies)--sometimes you would be going to a concert or ballgame on Montage mountain and get stuck in traffic for hours so PennDot decided to make some long needed improvements!
